Chapter 2140 - 2140: Specialty of the Raith Spirit Clan

After killing Veyric, Ajax knew he would be targeted by the Crimson Fang Hall.

The reason was simple.

Not only was Veyric a direct bloodline descendant of Ancestor Vorath, but he was also a genius heir whose chances of ascending to the Heavenly Realm were extremely high.

Naturally, the Crimson Fang Hall, which was known for its cruelty over even the slightest matters, would not let his death go unavenged.

However, what confused Ajax was the reason he had to be careful with the Raith Spirit Clan.

Ajax knew that the Raith Spirit Clan was one of the most powerful factions in the Human Region, but he had no idea why they would target him.

"The Raith Spirit Clan practices a unique type of Spirit Cultivation Technique that helps them strengthen their souls to an extraordinary level from a young age."

Seeing Ajax's confused expression, Nyra explained through Spectros.

"Thanks to that, the members of the Raith Spirit Clan can form twice as many Official Contracts with Elemental Spirits compared to other Spirit Cultivators."

"What? Double the number of Official Contracts?"

Learning about the Raith Spirit Clan's speciality, Ajax was shocked.

Generally, a human cultivator gets an opportunity to enter the Elemental Spirit World whenever their cultivation advances by a major realm.

Each time they enter the Elemental Spirit World, they can form only one Official Contract with an Elemental Spirit.

However, the cultivators of the Raith Spirit Clan can form two Official Contracts each time they enter the Elemental Spirit World.

'Two Official Contracts mean two Official Contract Elemental Spirits, and two Elemental Spirits mean twice as many Official Skills.'

Ajax immediately understood how advantageous this was.

Although an Official Contract Elemental Spirit was not necessarily stronger than an Unofficial Contract Elemental Spirit, Official Contract Elemental Spirits had better growth potential and could provide their Summoners with powerful Official Skills.

Moreover, having two Official Contract Elemental Spirits instead of one meant that a cultivator could have more options in battle.

Even if both cultivators had Elemental Spirits of the same cultivation realm, the one with more Official Contract Elemental Spirits would generally have an advantage.

"Because of this speciality, the Raith Spirit Clan is the strongest power in the entire Human Region. However, they act weak unless it is absolutely necessary to show their strength."

Nyra added another piece of information that surprised Ajax.

"That's not surprising."

Ajax nodded.

From the information he had gathered earlier, he knew that the Raith Spirit Clan ranked among the lowest in terms of apparent strength compared to the other top powers in the Human Region.

However, after learning about their special cultivation technique, Ajax was no longer surprised that they were actually the strongest power in the entire Human Region.

'They are hiding their true strength to avoid unnecessary attention.'

Ajax could understand their approach, as he had followed a similar approach and was still doing so.

After all, revealing their true strength would only make the other factions wary of them.

As long as the Raith Spirit Clan continued to appear weaker than the other top powers, those factions would not consider them their greatest threat.

And by the time anyone realised the truth, it might already be too late.

Of course, in some situations in the past, the Raith Spirit Clan had emerged as the winner among the top powers.

Every time, they would claim that it was all due to luck and other factors.

Nevertheless, the top powers had already noticed this and decided to be careful with the Raith Spirit Clan, making it an unofficial number one power in the Human Region.

'But the question is, why would they target me? Is it because of the strength I displayed?'

Ajax wondered for a moment before shaking his head.

'I am a Body Cultivator, whereas they are a Spirit Cultivation Clan. Why would they want me?'

It was not uncommon for talented loose cultivators to be recruited by powerful factions.

However, most factions preferred to recruit cultivators whose talents aligned with their own cultivation paths.

Of course, Ajax was also a Spirit Cultivator. However, he hadn't displayed any of his Spirit Cultivation abilities since entering the Elemental Source Land.

Everyone who had witnessed his battle with Veyric had seen only his terrifying physical strength.

So, why would the Raith Spirit Clan be interested in him?

"That's right. They are interested in you because of your Body Cultivation."

Nyra nodded, seemingly understanding Ajax's confusion.

"Whenever there is a powerful Body Cultivator, the Raith Spirit Clan tries to recruit them by any means necessary."

"By any means necessary?"

Ajax raised his eyebrows.

"Yes. If they cannot recruit them, they will kill them."

Nyra's voice became slightly serious.

"As for what the Raith Spirit Clan does with those Body Cultivators after recruiting them, no one knows."

Spectros hesitated for a moment before Nyra's voice continued through its mouth.

"However, none of those recruited Body Cultivators have ever been seen again. No one knows whether they are still alive or have already died."

"..."

Hearing that, Ajax frowned for a moment.

The fact that the Raith Spirit Clan specifically recruited powerful Body Cultivators and that those cultivators disappeared afterwards made him feel that something was wrong.

'Are they using those Body Cultivators for something special?'

Ajax couldn't help but wonder.

After all, if the Raith Spirit Clan simply wanted to recruit talented cultivators, there was no reason for those cultivators to disappear without a trace.

Moreover, the clan was already powerful enough to dominate the entire Human Region.

There was no need for them to go to such lengths just to recruit a few talented Body Cultivators.

'Could they be conducting some kind of secret experiment?'

Ajax thought about it for a moment before shaking his head.

He had no evidence to support that idea, and there was no point in making random guesses.

'Since I decided to showcase my Body Cultivation, I already knew I would be targeted by the top powers in this universe. So, there is no need to worry too much about it. Instead, I should focus on the Elemental Source Land.'

Even before killing Veyric, Ajax had already known that showcasing his battle prowess would attract the attention of powerful factions.

Some would want to recruit him, while others might try to kill him before he became a threat to them.

The Raith Spirit Clan was simply another faction he needed to be wary of.

Moreover, with his current strength, Ajax wasn't particularly worried about being targeted by them.

If they wanted to recruit him, they could try.

If they wanted to kill him, they would have to possess the strength to do so.

'Besides, I still have many things to accomplish before I leave this Elemental Source Land.'

Ajax had already collected more than enough Elemental Spirit Ascension Crystals for himself.

However, he still wanted to make sure that Thorne and his team obtained enough crystals to secure their positions in the top ten rankings.

After all, he had already promised to help Thorne obtain the Divine Elemental Potion.

And Ajax intended to keep his promise.

Moreover, besides the information he hoped to obtain from Thorne about unlocking his sealed Divine Elemental Spirits, Ajax was interested in the Sentient Flame of this Elemental Source Land.

'I wonder what they are doing with the Body Cultivators they recruit?'

Nevertheless, Ajax couldn't help but wonder about the recruited Body Cultivators for a moment.

However, since he had no way of finding out the truth right now, he stopped thinking about it.

For now, there was no need to concern himself with the Raith Spirit Clan.

He would deal with them if they approached him in the future.

With that thought, Ajax relaxed and waited for the end of the First Round.
