New Ability Every Ten Days: Becoming a Vampire Made Me Too OP
Chapter 210: Regions of the Abyss
Seven humanoid figures covered from head to toe in armor slowly advanced from the forest. Suddenly, the person in the lead, a figure with a curvaceous silhouette clad in green armor, spoke up. "Captain, I see someone up ahead."
A figure in red armor asked in a deep voice, "A human subspecies, or some other humanoid race?"
The warrior in green armor shook her head. "I can't tell, but they're definitely not Spartan warriors."
After a moment of silence, the leader in red armor decisively said, "Let's go make contact. Everyone, be ready for a fight."
The group continued forward. After emerging from the forest, they first glanced at the three-horned dragon lying on the ground before cautiously approaching Yu Xian and Little Nora.
Trying to sound as amicable as possible, the green-armored woman said, "Hello. We're members of the Carman Hunting Party. I'm the vanguard, Chun Mu."
Yu Xian looked at Little Nora, and they instantly shared knowledge. He could now understand Chun Mu's words. She was not speaking the universal language of the myriad worlds, but the language of the Swamp Humans.
Swamp Humans were a human subspecies that had lived in marshlands for generations. Their skin was exceptionally smooth and moist, which allowed them to move swiftly through mud. They could even remain underwater for several hours without surfacing for air.
However, their weakness was equally obvious. They were highly vulnerable to dryness. Once their skin lost moisture, it would easily crack, and they would rapidly lose water until eventually dying from dehydration.
Yu Xian smiled at Chun Mu. "Hello. I'm Salted Fish, and this is my companion, Little Nora."
Chun Mu stopped four or five meters away from the campfire. "May we rest here for a while? We can also exchange information about this place."
Yu Xian nodded. "Feel free."
He had already exchanged information with Little Nora. The strongest of the seven was the one in red armor, whose Power value was 1, equal to Little Nora's before the Primordial Blood Pact strengthened him. The other six members each had a Power of only around 0.8 to 0.9. Under the Blue Planet's ranking system, this meant that the red-armored figure was God rank, while the rest were all Dragon rank.
Without a doubt, this was a formidable team. As long as the Ancient Cosmic Dragon did not intervene, they were more than capable of sweeping through every dragon in this area.
The members of the Carman Hunting Party sat together, took out their canteens, and began pouring water over their armor. Chun Mu politely asked, "Mr. Salted Fish, have you also come in search of the Forbidden Fruit?"
Yu Xian was surprised. "The Forbidden Fruit?"
Chun Mu nodded. "Yes. A week ago, a Forbidden Fruit fell from the Abyss into this world fragment. Did you not know?"
Yu Xian shook his head. "I really didn't know. My companion and I have been in this world fragment all along. Have many people entered recently?"
Chun Mu replied, "Roughly several hundred factions. Most of them are relatively friendly, but there are a few you need to be wary of."
A woman in purple armor spoke up. "The Spartan warriors, for example. They're extremely overbearing and will kill any competitors they discover. You must be very careful if you encounter them."
"Spartan warriors..."
Yu Xian looked toward Eternal Purity, but she clearly had no intention of explaining, so he turned to Little Nora instead.
The next instant, Little Nora's voice sounded in his mind. "Big Bro, I know about them. The Spartan warriors are also known as the Ironblood Berserkers. Their king became a supernatural being through a Forbidden Fruit, then led his entire race to settle on a world fragment within the Abyss. Over time, they became one of the dominant local forces there. That big sister is right. The Spartan warriors consider dying in battle an honor. Whenever they encounter competitors, they treat them as enemies and fight them to the death."
Yu Xian could not help asking, "They're that unhinged and still haven't gone extinct? They must be pretty strong, right?"
Chun Mu smiled bitterly. "Ordinary Spartan warriors are only Heaven-rank, but the Spartan King is a peak Star-rank powerhouse. Those weaker than him cannot defeat him, while those stronger than him would never bother coming to such a remote and barren region."
Yu Xian was speechless. From Chun Mu's words, he gathered that this place was actually considered one of the more remote regions of the Abyss. Curious, he asked, "The Abyss is divided into different regions?"
Chun Mu nodded, a bit surprised that Yu Xian lacked even this basic common knowledge. "Of course. The region we're currently in is Nail Zone Five. Those at Void rank or above generally don't come to places like this. They usually operate in the Bone Zones or Organ Zones. Some legendary powerhouses are even said to venture into the Abyss's absolutely forbidden region, the Head Zone."
Yu Xian was a little confused after hearing this. "The names of the Abyss's regions are really strange."
Chun Mu explained with a smile, "They're actually quite easy to remember. The Abyss has two forbidden regions, the Head Zone and the Heart Zone. The others are divided into the Bone Zone, Organ Zone, Skin Zone, and Nail Zone. Each of those is further divided into smaller subzones. This place is Nail Zone Five."
Yu Xian frowned. "Why does that make the Abyss sound like some kind of living creature, with us inside its body?"
Chun Mu smiled. "No one knows. They've been called that since ancient times. Perhaps the Abyss really is an enormous turtle, and we're standing on its nail right now." ⅇ
Right at that moment, the meat in Yu Xian's hand sizzled to a golden brown. He smiled at the others. "All cooked up. Anyone want some?"
Chun Mu shook her head with a courteous smile. "No, thank you. We brought our own rations."
She took a drink from her spatial ring, opened the section of her helmet covering her mouth, and gulped it down. Yu Xian ate his meat, while the others drank their beverages, with the two sides occasionally exchanging a few words.
The Carman Hunting Party rested for about fifteen minutes before getting up to say goodbye and setting off in another direction. They had clearly figured out which way Yu Xian had come from and therefore decisively chose a different route.
Chun Mu walked at the front. Only after they had moved some distance away from Yu Xian did she say, "He probably isn't from the Abyss. Most likely, he's a newcomer from another world."
The leader replied, "But he's very powerful. We should establish a friendly relationship with him and avoid offending him if possible."
The woman in purple armor was surprised. "He's that strong? Why couldn't I sense it?"
The leader calmly explained, "That yellow duck beside him is actually a Garuda. A Garuda with one ring should be about as strong as I am, yet it's clearly Salted Fish's subordinate. Do you really think Salted Fish himself could be weak?"
Although he could not inspect Yu Xian's or Little Nora's attributes, the leader was highly experienced and knowledgeable. From Little Nora's physical characteristics alone, he had already formed a rough estimate of their strength. He just had no idea how much stronger Yu Xian was than himself.
Chun Mu smiled. "I noticed that as well, which is why I shared so much information with Mr. Salted Fish. Perhaps we may even become friends someday."
Under normal circumstances, even after two groups met and confirmed that neither side was hostile, they would not freely provide as much information as they had this time. But Chun Mu's judgment was slightly sharper than the leader's. Her instincts told her that Yu Xian was extremely confident, so confident that he had no fear whatsoever that the seven of them harbored malicious intentions. That was why he had remained calmly seated beside the campfire the entire time.
This meant that unless Yu Xian was merely bluffing, he had to be extraordinarily powerful, enough to eliminate all seven of them in an instant.
Meanwhile, Yu Xian listened in on the seven people's conversation. So, that was what they were thinking.
He realized that although he had not revealed his strength, his demeanor alone had already given away a great deal of information. I was still far too inexperienced.
