Never Judge

Chapter 716 - 716

The next day, Mae rubbed her eyes as she pushed Dave's heavy arm off her. She was sure that he would make sure she got to bed safe and sound.

"Dave, let me get out of bed." Mae said as she struggled to move his arm off of her.

"Mmmm, no." Dave mumbled as he pulled her to him and held her in a tight embrace.

"Dave Lazaro! It's 5am and we are leaving at 7am. I need to get out of bed and get ready." Mae complained as she successfully got out of his arms and hopped off of the bed.

"Why did Cedric want to leave so early?" Dave grumbled as he followed Mae into the bathroom.

"No, you are not joining me in the shower." Mae shouted as she pushed Dave out of the bathroom and locked the door.

"Hey! It's my bathroom!" Dave complained as he knocked on the door.

"Go ask the cook to prepare us some breakfast!" Mae called out from the otherside of the door. "I'll prepare your clothes after I get out."

"It's fine, I'm not a child. I can manage." Dave grumbled.

"Thanks! I love you." Mae called out as she continued to take a bath.

"Oh, before I forget. Mien and I sort of bonded last night. He's going to move permanently to the capital and work for the Reyes Group." Dave said, catching Mae by surprise.

"And here I thought you didn't like him." Mae said with a laugh.

"We settled our differences last night." Dave explained.

"Last night while I was shitfaced drunk?" Mae asked as she remembered how she had passed out as soon as she got into Dave's car.

"Yep." Dave laughed. "He's having breakfast with us. The room you set up for him, Cedric said he could have it."

Mae tried to recall which unit she had placed Mien at. It wasn't one of the large ones Cedric had prepared for his assistants and bodyguard, but it was part of his staff's wing.

It was one of the large four bedroom units on the lower floors with two or three on each floor. Like their units, it had its own staff to handle the occupants' needs.

"I guess I'll need to make sure everything's in order before we leave then." Mae called out.

"I'll help you." Dave promised. "I'll see you in a bit then."

Mae smiled as she realized that Dave and Mien now truly got along. She connected quite well with Mien and she could see a good working relationship between her and him.

She definitely didn't see him the way she saw Dave, but she knew Mien would be a friend.

As she walked into Dave's huge closet she picked out a simple black suit and trousers for herself. She knew that a difficult task was ahead of them since Fernando's family didn't even know he was alive.

Mae looked at the clothes in the closet and smiled, she couldn't help but notice how Dave had already emptied out half of it for her. She hadn't brought most of her clothes since she didn't spend every night with him. She just brought enough to make it so that she didn't need to go back and forth.

Once she was dressed, she picked a simple suit for Dave and laid it out on the couch at the center of the walk-in closet. She also picked out a watch and a tie for him and neatly organized everything.

"Mae, are you done?!" Dave called out as he looked for her in the room.

"Just a moment. Doing my make up!" Mae said as she placed some powder on her face.

As always she chose to go with something light, working for Cedric Reyes meant that she was always on the move and there was barely any time to do a touch up. So she had gotten accustomed to wearing simple make up.

"Mien is here, I told him I was just going to take a bath." Dave said as he walked into the closet.

"Alright. I'll pack your bag after this, then have breakfast, then pack my bag." Mae said as she did some final checks of herself in the mirror.

"You know you don't need to pack my bag. I can do that on my own." Dave said as he rolled his eyes.

"Fine, but don't forget your toiletries and toothbrush. I swear, for an assistant you pack horribly." Mae teased Dave as she stood up and walked out of the room.

As Mae walked down to the living room, she was greeted by a smiling Mien who had looked up from his laptop when he heard her.

"No hangover?" Mien asked with a grin as he moved to stand up.

"None." Mae said with a laugh as she walked up and gave him a hug. "Dave told me the news, so when are you moving everything?"

"Well I called my mom last night and it seems like she has been wanting to come home for years. She even cried. Now I feel bad about having kept her in Singapore." Mien said with a frown as he folded his laptop.

"I'm sure your mom was happy in Singapore too. The only hard part was she never got to come home because of your dad." Mae said as she led them to the dining room.

"Good morning Miss Mae." The cook greeted as he served her and Mien some breakfast.

"Chef Mac, this is Atty. Mien, he'll be living in Solaire as well." Mae said as she introduced the chef to Mien.

"Happy to have you join us, Atty. Mien. I hope you enjoy your stay. If you need anything, the staff would be more than willing to oblige." Chef Mac said with a small bow.

"Thank you." Mein responded.

"Miss Mae, your bags are packed and in the lobby. Mr. Dave asked us to prepare it for you." A maid said as she appeared beside Chef Mac.

"Oh, wow, thank you." Mae said, a little bit surprised with Dave asking a maid to pack her bag for her.

"We will leave you now, enjoy your breakfast. I'll be back to serve Mr. Dave's food when he returns." Chef Mac said as he and the maid left.

"Wow, Dave wasn't kidding when he said things were really luxurious here." Mien commended as he took a bite of his breakfast.

"Dave and I normally prepare our own food, but since we are going away today, we have the staff prepare it for us." Mae explained. "But they do complain a lot that we don't let them do their jobs enough."

"They were hired to do away with the daily chores for you so you could do your jobs better." Mien said with a shrug. "If you guys perform subpar then they are to be blamed as well."

"Mmmm, I guess you are right." Mae said as she continued to eat.

"So it was Dave?" Mien asked with a raised eyebrow, making Mae choke on her food.

Mien couldn't help but laugh at her reaction as she drank a glass to relieve herself.

"Yes, it is Dave." Mae said with a nod as soon as she recovered. "And I would appreciate it if you didn't let anyone know."

"Why not? I think it's only natural that a relationship would form between the two of you." Mien said as he drank his coffee.

"Cedric isn't a fan of workplace relationships." Mae said. "Or at least that's what the rumors say. His mother was really only strict with that, it seemed she hated it when personal lives interfered with the professional one. Not everyone can keep the two separate."

"Mae, I doubt Cedric thinks that way. Have you even ever asked?" Mien said with a questioning look.

Mien's question suddenly made Mae realize that they never had asked. And even back when Cedric had found out about Leon and Mia there was nothing but understanding his eyes.

Maybe they had judged Cedric too quickly? She simply assumed that since people said Cedric was opposed to it because of his mother's beliefs then he would be too.

Their boss had shown time and again that he was an ally of love, of being with the person that you loved. So why wasn't it possible that he would be alright with two of his assistants dating?

Surely, he would find that acceptable?
