Chapter 2214.2: Ingrate
Chapter 2214.2: Ingrate
“What a bunch of fools.” Lu Yun could be certain that this group didn’t come from Great Xia or a highly ranked Jade Ruins empire. They came from another world. The cultivators of Great Xia, even the lowest ones, had much stronger mentalities than these fellows.
One of the four awakened cultivators was the first to react and hoisted his flying sword, stabbing it at the center of a spirit’s forehead.
Pfft!
The mid dao rank flying sword pierced it through, but the vicious spirit remained unbothered and continued shrieking. It brandished its claws and pounced on the awakened cultivator.
“Why didn’t it work?!” the powerhouse screamed with fury. He propelled his sword and sliced the vicious spirit to bits, but it swiftly reassembled again. “Give me your flying sword!”
Being peak latter awakened, the powerhouse flung himself at Lu Yun after he slashed the spirit apart. His silver sword light formed a straight line that made for Lu Yun’s head, wanting to slice the young man into two.
“Damn it, I really did save a bunch of ingrates!” Lu Yun swore. He’d planned on using the vicious spirits’ secret to collect some goodwill. At his stage of soul projection, he found that he could use goodwill to enhance his cultivation, manipulate the Seal of the Multitude, and also improve the heavenly dao combat arts.
Too much goodwill was needed for the latter, however. The tiny bit he’d collected before was far from enough.
But he’d met a bunch of blithering idiots! They didn’t focus on how to kill the enemy, but turned their swords on their own kind instead! Lu Yun highly regretted saving them.
The awakened cultivator’s strike had hit the blood rune, but hadn’t fully destroyed it. Leaving even a squiggle behind permitted it to be reborn..com
All of the hairs on Lu Yun’s body stood on end to see such a powerhouse locked onto him. He wasn’t Terra Demon, he had no ability to face a peak awakened heavyweight!
Hongmeng qi churned inside of him as the sword light reached him and he disappeared.
“Die!” Lu Yun reappeared behind the powerhouse, silver light flashing past his fingertip and piercing through the latter’s defensive treasure.
There was no match for the sharpness of connate gang metal. As long as he didn’t attack an immortal rank defensive treasure, there was nothing that he couldn’t penetrate in his current state.
The awakened heavyweight hadn’t imagined that someone just in front of him would suddenly shift behind him.
Pfft!
He felt his dantian ache and silver radiance shoot out from it. The powerhouse in a towering fury sagged weakly to the ground. Lu Yun’s jade-green sword brilliance exploded once more and chopped him to pieces before a mouthful of fire burned the man to ashes. A cultivator’s body had to be destroyed or they would still turn into a vicious spirit if polluted with blood light.
“Master!”
“Senior brother!”
“Martial uncle!” screamed the cultivators when they saw Lu Yun kill one of their own.
“The Yu Mountain Sect will pursue you to the ends of the world for killing our senior brother!” The other three awakened cultivators simultaneously abandoned the fight and about-faced for Lu Yun.
How could the remaining cultivators possibly defend themselves? Wails and shrieks rose and fell and Red Ribbon’s defenses were shattered. She was so weak that more vicious spirits pounced on her before she could finish turning. They ate her alive, leaving not a single bone fragment behind.
The others cried out with disbelief and some female cultivators dropped weakly to the ground. The vicious spirits also ate people?!
These cultivators were the young disciples of a major sect from another world. They were here to test and temper themselves and had never seen anything like this! In the absence of protection, they panicked and fled in all directions.
They might’ve stood a chance had they remained together and worked in tandem.
Pfft pfft pfft!
The clean skies immediately turned into a slaughterfield. Six vicious spirits attacked one cultivator at a time; no one was able to fight back, not even combination cultivators.
The spirits were too fast!
Blood spewed through the sky as the stronger ones were assimilated and the weaker became food.
“Bastard!!” The awakened powerhouses vented their spleen on Lu Yun to see their sect’s disciples fall and their attacks grew more furious.
Lu Yun smirked and didn’t bother exchanging further words with these people. He shifted several kilometers out with a few teleportation moves.
“The Yu Mountain Sect?” Lu Yun left after glancing at the three awkward cultivators surrounded by vicious spirits. He didn’t think much of what’d just occurred—his three thousand lifetimes had brought so many experiences to him that he was long since numb to it all. If the three died, they well deserved it.
They had a chance of living if they could think through what he’d said and grasp the method to kill the vicious spirits. Unfortunately, they were predisposed to thinking that Lu Yun was able to kill the spirits only because of the treasure in his hand.
……
As more cultivators entered the formation array, so did the number of vicious spirits grow. Those newly entered were ill-prepared and swiftly turned into more vicious spirits when attacked. After Lu Yun left, he searched for a new target.
“Oh?” He raised a brow at two scintillating rays of stark white and blood red rising in the distance. Shooting for the horizon, they were as if two constantly moving pillars of light. There were more than five hundred vicious spirits gathered around them.
Gui Xie roared with laughter. His hair was stark white due to practicing the Immortal Canon of Life and Death; white light also enveloped his body. The Cosmic Flag fluttered and waved in his hand. While it was unable to communicate with the stars due to the formation array, the stark white light scythed through spirits.
Next to him, Bloodbath remained the same as he always was—long blood-red hair with long blood-red robes… He looked no different from the vicious spirits. No, Bloodbath was several times more formidable than the spirits.
What surprised Lu Yun was that Bloodbath had reached tribulation stage. He would be an awakened cultivator as soon as he weathered his tribulation!
Gui Xie and Bloodbath were like two killing machines, endlessly reaping the lives of the vicious spirits. The five hundred spirits were completely cleared out after two dozen breaths.
“I’m sure I’ll beat his brains out if I meet that empyrean immortal again!” A keen light shone in Bloodbath’s eyes.
Jadecliff’s ambush and subsequent hanging of him and Lu Xiaochi on a flagpole had become an internal demon. If he didn’t personally kill the immortal, he stood almost no chance of making it through his tribulation.
With the incredible increase in his cultivation and full comprehension of the profound meaning within the Canon of the Blood God, his battle strength was on par with a real immortal.
“Don’t worry, I’ve heard of that Empyrean Immortal Jadecliff. He’s as timid as a mouse and will never set foot outside Jade Ruins Realm. You’ll find him one day!” Gui Xie comforted.
“You two…” Disguised as a hulking man, Lu Yun approached the duo.
“Who are you?” Bloodbath dismissed the light around him and furrowed his blood-red brows. Gui Xie looked at Lu Yun as well. Although it’d been less than a month since the two ventured into the array, they’d long since grasped the true meaning behind all of their cultivation methods after repeated encounters with death. They’d also killed more than a few peak awakened powerhouses.
“I almost forgot that this is the perfect environment for the methods you guys cultivate.” Lu Yun smacked his forehead and returned the Metamorphosis Talisman into his hand with a flash of green light. His appearance and aura underwent drastic changes.
“Young… young master?” Gui Xie and Bloodbath gaped, their confidence crumbling before their eyes. How had they failed to see through a minor art of disguise?
The Immortal Canon of Life and Death absorbed the power of death from the vicious spirits to enhance Gui Xie’s strength. At the heart of things, the spirits were evolved from dead things. When that power disappeared, they were truly dead.
As for the Canon of the Blood God, the bloody light around the vicious spirits was the most optimal nutrient for Bloodbath.
Due to the presence of heavenly dao in the world of cultivation, all things had a chance of survival and one sliver of weakness. Thus, the vicious spirits here had their counters and weaknesses. Apart from the blood rune in the center of their forehead, the Canon of the Blood God could also temporarily restrain them.
“Well done.” Lu Yun was very satisfied with Bloodbath and Gui Xie.
“You praise us too highly, young master. It’s all thanks to young master’s cultivation method. The two of us wouldn’t have these accomplishments otherwise!” Gui Xie responded sincerely.
He was just a wandering cultivator and practiced the lowliest cultivation method. If it wasn’t for Lu Yun giving him the Immortal Canon of Life and Death, he would still be an ordinary combination cultivator even now. Meanwhile, Bloodbath would still be tormented by a fragment of the Canon of the Blood God.
“Alright, be careful. In here, cultivators are much more frightening than the vicious spirits,” Lu Yun reminded solemnly.
“We understand!” Bloodbath nodded. They were no fools—it would be very dangerous if word got out that they could enhance their cultivation through killing vicious spirits. If Lu Yun hadn’t dismissed his disguise earlier, they would’ve attacked the young man.
