Chapter 45 - Sent to the servant’s quarters
Chapter 45: Chapter 45 - Sent to the servant’s quarters
Jua Gu simply stood there with his shirt still half undone, staring at the woman who was putting on such a pitiful act in front of her husband.
He could tell exactly what she was doing.
What surprised him more was that the man on the other side of the call seemed to be falling for it.
Or at least, he seemed to be.
Ying Rui’s voice sounded bored and dull, almost lifeless, as though he barely had the energy to care about what was happening.
He really didn’t sound interested at all. "Where is he?"
Mo Yuxin immediately lowered her head, pretending to hesitate before answering.
"I... I think he locked himself in his room. He’s with that man as we speak. What should I do, honey? I... I really don’t know what to do anymore."
Her voice trembled as she spoke, and she even glanced toward Jua Gu with a frightened expression.
The corners of her lips almost curled into a smile when she thought he wasn’t looking.
Jua Gu noticed it anyway. ’Nice acting...’ He simply raised a brow.
For a moment, there was silence on the other side of the call.
Then Ying Rui sighed. "I’ll have Jua Gu moved to the servants’ quarters."
Mo Yuxin’s eyes immediately lit up. "But..."
She quickly lowered her head again, hiding the smile that was threatening to appear on her face.
"Okay... I’ll have the servants move his things."
"I’ll talk to you later. I have a meeting soon." With that, Ying Rui ended the call.
Mo Yuxin stared at the phone for a few seconds as if she couldn’t quite believe how easily everything had gone.
Then she slowly lowered it. A bright smile spread across her face.
"See? It was that easy."
She looked toward Jua Gu, no longer bothering to hide the satisfaction in her eyes.
"You really thought a swine like you could influence my son?"
She stepped closer, looking him up and down with disgust.
"Now you’re going to the servants’ quarters. And next..."
Her smile widened.
"...the street."
Jua Gu raised a brow.
He couldn’t help but find the whole thing a little amusing.
"I did such a bad thing under his roof, and yet all he suggested was moving me to the servants’ quarters?"
He tilted his head slightly.
"I wonder..."
His eyes narrowed playfully.
"Am I his secret son as well?"
"No!"
Mo Yuxin’s face immediately twisted.
The scream came out so loudly that even Jua Gu blinked.
"You are nothing but a fucking mutt he picked up!"
Her chest rose and fell heavily as she glared at him.
In fact, when Ying Rui had first brought this child into the household, she had suspected exactly the same thing.
Why else would he suddenly bring home a strange child and insist on keeping him around?
She had immediately ordered someone to perform a DNA test.
The result had been clear.
Jua Haisin had absolutely no relation to Ying Rui.
Not even the slightest.
That was the only reason she had allowed the child to remain in the household all these years.
If there had been even a small possibility that he was Ying Rui’s biological son, she would never have tolerated him.
She would have gotten rid of him long ago.
But now, things were different.
Jua Gu had somehow managed to get close to her children, especially Ying Di.
And that was something she could no longer ignore.
Gritting her teeth, Mo Yuxin turned around and stormed out of the room.
The servant did not waste any time after Mo Yuxin left.
He quickly packed Jua Gu’s things into a large bag, hardly daring to look him in the eye. Whatever had happened earlier had clearly frightened him enough that he wanted to finish the job and get away from Jua as quickly as possible.
Jua stood by the door and watched him silently.
So this was it.
One phone call and he had been kicked out of the main house.
He almost wanted to laugh.
Ying Rui had not even bothered to come and see him in person. He had simply decided that moving him to the servants’ quarters was enough.
At least he was not being thrown onto the street.
Yet.
Jua glanced at the bag in the servant’s hand and sighed inwardly.
I really am being treated like some troublesome stray.
The servant carried the bag downstairs and led him toward the back of the estate.
The servants’ quarters were not actually rooms inside the main building. They were a small separate house located a little farther away, surrounded by a quiet patch of garden. It was modest compared to the huge main house, but it was still clean and had everything someone needed to live.
Jua looked at the little house and raised a brow.
Well... at least it has walls.
He was about to step inside when he heard the sound of a car approaching.
The servant froze.
Jua turned his head.
A few moments later, the car stopped near the entrance, and the doors opened.
Ying Mao and Ying Di had returned from school.
Ying Di stepped out first, his usual blank expression on his face. Ying Mao followed, still carrying his schoolbag. He looked tired from the day, but the moment his eyes landed on Jua standing outside with a bag in his hand, his entire expression changed.
"Jua Ge?"
The little boy ran toward him.
Jua barely had time to react before Ying Mao threw himself into his arms and hugged him tightly around the waist.
"Jua Ge!"
Jua looked down at the small arms wrapped around him.
"What happened to you?" Ying Mao asked, his voice already trembling. "Why are you holding your things?"
Jua opened his mouth, but the boy suddenly squeezed him even tighter.
"Are you leaving?"
His voice cracked.
Jua’s expression softened slightly.
"I’m not leaving the estate."
"But you’re carrying your things!"
Ying Mao looked at the bag, then back at him. His eyes quickly filled with tears.
"You’re leaving me..."
"No, I—"
"Don’t go!"
The boy started crying before Jua could finish.
He clung to him as if someone was trying to drag him away, burying his face against Jua’s clothes.
"I don’t want you to go! Jua Ge, please don’t go!"
Jua stood there awkwardly, one hand hovering over the boy’s head.
He had expected Ying Mao to be upset.
He just hadn’t expected this.
The little boy was trembling.
Jua slowly placed his hand on his head and rubbed his hair.
"I’m only moving to the servants’ house. It’s not far."
Ying Mao cried harder.
Jua blinked.
Well... technically he has a point.
Before he could explain further, Mo Yuxin came out of the main building.
She had clearly heard the commotion.
Seeing Ying Mao crying while holding onto Jua, her expression changed for a moment, but she quickly put on a gentle look.
"Mao Mao, stop crying. Your father ordered this."
Ying Mao looked at her through his tears.
"Why?"
Mo Yuxin sighed as though she hated having to explain something unpleasant to a child.
"Because Jua Gu is not a good influence on you and your brother."
Ying Mao frowned.
"Why?"
"He is..." She hesitated deliberately, glancing at Jua before lowering her voice. "He is a filthy man who likes men."
Ying Mao froze.
Even Jua paused.
The boy slowly loosened his arms and looked up at Jua.
His eyes were wide. "You...Jua Ge... likes men?"
Jua stared at the child.
That reaction was much bigger than I expected.
He had thought Ying Mao might simply ask what it meant.
Instead, the poor boy looked as though someone had just told him the sky was falling.
Jua sighed. "Yes."
Ying Mao’s mouth fell open.
Jua scratched his cheek awkwardly. "I do like men."
The boy stared at him for several seconds.
Jua was beginning to wonder if he had broken the child’s brain.
Then Ying Mao suddenly grabbed his shirt again.
"Even if you like men, it’s okay!"
Jua blinked.
"I still like you!"
Mo Yuxin’s face twitched.
"Mao Mao!"
Ying Mao ignored her completely and held onto Jua again.
"I don’t care! You can like whoever you want! Just don’t leave me!"
Jua looked down at the boy clinging to him and felt something strange in his chest.
The child really was scared.
Just afraid of losing the one person in the house who had treated him kindly.
Jua reached down and gently wiped the tears from his cheeks.
"I told you, I’m not leaving."
"But you’re going to that little house!"
"It’s still on the estate."
"I don’t care!"
Ying Mao stamped his foot.
"I want you here!"
Mo Yuxin finally lost her patience. She rushed over grabbed the kid and pulled him away from him like he was some kind of a disease.
"Mao Mao, enough! Your father already ordered this. You cannot change his decision just because you are throwing a tantrum."
