Chapter 1382: When A Ruler Falls (Part 5)

Chapter 1382: When A Ruler Falls (Part 5)

When Evan stepped forward to attack Eldraker, Baphomet did not intervene, as he was confident that Eldraker could easily stop him.

Another reason was that although he had spoken confidently and claimed that even if Evan once again exploded with immense power they would be able to handle him, he was not one hundred percent sure about it.

Not to mention, both he and Eldraker were not in perfect condition and could not display the full extent of their power.

Thus, when Evan attacked Eldraker, Baphomet simply stood aside, waiting for the dragon to counterattack and to see whether Evan would once again turn into Azroth.

From the moment Evan launched his attack and Eldraker nearly killed him in a single move, to the instant Evan’s strength suddenly surged to an entirely different level, only one second passed in reality.

All the events happened so quickly that, despite being a Rank Six Core Evolver, even Baphomet could not fully process everything that had occurred.

Moreover, when Evan used the Gaze of Monarch skill and the sky almost entirely turned blood red, the memories of the Tomb of the Ancient surfaced briefly in the demon monarch’s mind.

For a moment, he assumed that the events that had taken place inside the Tomb of the Ancient were about to repeat themselves.

However, he soon realized that the killing intent released by the red pupil in the sky was quite weak compared to what he had felt inside the Tomb of the Ancient.

Not only that, although powerful, Evan’s aura was still weaker than that of a Rank Six Core Evolver, indicating that the power boost he had received was far inferior to the one he had exhibited inside the tomb, where his aura had been on a completely different level—so overwhelming that even Baphomet had felt insignificant.

Although Baphomet processed all of this within a single second, by that time, Evan had already used the Rune of Sealing, completely sealing Eldraker’s powers.

Seeing the sky almost entirely collapsing as Evan’s punch descended, Baphomet was certain that if the attack landed, Eldraker would undoubtedly die.

He was not certain what kind of trick Evan had used, but he could clearly sense that Eldraker, in his current state, was no different from a newborn dragon with no powers at all.

As Eldraker saw the small fist, one that seemed to contain the power to destroy the world approaching him, a look of fear flashed in his eyes.

He tried to use his powers to escape, attempted to mobilize his law energy, his physical strength, and even his spiritual strength to avoid the attack.

But nothing worked.

All of his abilities, including his physical strength had been sealed by that strange rune.

Just as the punch was about to strike him and the shadow of death enveloped his existence, Eldraker saw a tall figure with two horns on his head appear before him.

’Baphomet…’

For the first time in his life, upon seeing Baphomet, Eldraker felt a surge of happiness rising from the depths of his heart.

“Trying to kill someone in front of me? It seems you don’t take me seriously at all, huh?” Baphomet said coldly as he raised one of his palms to block the attack.

Evan saw Baphomet suddenly appear before Eldraker, blocking his path, and a gloomy expression flashed across his eyes.

Although he had expected that Baphomet would intervene, he had still hoped that by acting at lightning speed, he might be able to kill Eldraker before he could react.

Even though Baphomet stood in his way, Evan did not stop his attack.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Baphomet caught Evan’s fist without much effort, but the shockwaves generated by the collision between his palm and Evan’s fist were like the simultaneous detonation of tens of thousands of nuclear bombs, destroying everything within millions of miles.

The ground, which had long been covered in cracks, sank and then shattered like a mirror, collapsing for hundreds of kilometers. Despite it being daytime, the sky lost all its luster as the fractured space turned into chaotic void rifts that spread in every direction.

The entire world seemed to welcome Armageddon as everything began to collapse bit by bit.

Evan’s eyes flickered due to the devastating aftereffects, and his gaze shifted toward Eldraker, who was now nothing more than a powerless dragon.

If he were struck by such shockwaves, he would undoubtedly be erased from existence.

However, to his disappointment, when Evan looked at him, he saw Eldraker enveloped in a light violet-colored barrier, completely unharmed.

A pendant hanging around his neck was glowing, radiating an extraordinary aura.

’Of course, as the king of dragons, it’s only natural for him to possess life-protecting artifacts,’ Evan thought inwardly, though his heart sank slightly.

’Just three seconds left before the effect of Death Guardian Authority ends. Once it ends, I won’t be able to survive their attacks.’

Evan’s mind raced and seeing Baphomet coldly gripping his fist, attempting to crush it but failing due to the Death Guardian Authority, a crazed glint flashed across his eyes.

Without saying anything, he poured all of his strength into the Halberd of Destruction and swung it.

Baphomet immediately felt a tingling sensation, as if something was wrong with the weapon, and chose not to take the attack head-on as he had done with Evan’s punch. He released Evan’s hand, and a blood-red shield materialized in front of him.

However, the moment the halberd struck the shield, a golden light filled with destructive power burst forth from it.

At the same time—

(Critical Hit)

Bang!

The effect of the Master of Shadows Authority triggered once again, and before Baphomet’s disbelieving eyes, the Halberd of Destruction shattered his barrier instantly and struck the side of his chest.

BOOOOOOM!

The immense force of the halberd broke several of Baphomet’s ribs due to the critical hit effect and sent him flying nearly ten meters to the side.

A look of pain flashed across Baphomet’s face as the power of destruction invaded his body, rampaging within him. However, his law power reacted swiftly, and his injuries healed almost instantly.

Though he recovered in a moment, a blazing fire of rage ignited within the demon’s heart as he could not believe that he had been injured by someone far weaker than himself.

“You damn ant!” Baphomet roared in fury as he turned toward Evan, only to see him relentlessly attacking the barrier protecting Eldraker.

Baphomet sneered in disdain at the sight. Unlike Evan, he knew that the barrier protecting Eldraker was a peak Rank Six barrier, and even he would need some time to break it.

For someone like Evan, breaking it was completely impossible.

Evan’s hands moved at a speed that left behind countless afterimages, striking the barrier with the Halberd of Destruction more than a thousand times in a single second.

He had already attempted to enter the barrier using his Shadow Walk skill, but he had failed.

Evan was not surprised by this as the barrier protecting Eldraker was formed from extremely powerful laws, and it was impossible for a mere skill to ignore such laws and allow him to pass through.

But Evan did not care.

There was a reason he was attacking the barrier at such an overwhelming speed.

“Save your strength. It’s impossible for you to break this barrier. I don’t know what you have done to me, but once I recover, I will make you wish for a fate worse than death,” Eldraker said, his eyes filled with hatred.

It was the first time he had ever suffered like this.

Although he still did not understand what kind of rune Evan had used to seal his powers, as he attempted to mobilize his energy, he could tell that its effects were gradually fading and that his powers would soon return.

Evan ignored Eldraker’s words entirely and continued attacking the barrier without pause.

Suddenly, just as there was only one and a half seconds left before the effect of Death Guardian Authority ended, the moment Evan had been waiting for finally arrived and the eyes of the King of Dragons widened in fear.
