Chapter 1379: When A Ruler Falls (Part 2)
“Who are you?”
When Evan heard Eldraker’s question, he did not feel confused or surprised, as he immediately understood what he was trying to ask.
“What do you think?” He asked back instead of answering the question directly.
Eldrakar remained silent for a moment before speaking again.
“At present, you are not him.”
Evan couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
’It really isn’t easy to deceive these powerful beings who have lived for millions of years and ruled over entire clans for so long.’
He had been maintaining a cold and indifferent expression, just like Azroth in his memories.
But even then, with just a single glance, Eldrakar was able to tell that he wasn’t truly Azroth.
’Well, it might not be because my acting is poor, but because if it were truly Azroth, he would have already destroyed them the moment they appeared before him instead of wasting time talking like this.’
Although he felt it was a pity that they didn’t mistake him for Azroth and flee immediately, it did not stop him from continuing his act.
“If I am not him, then who do you think I am?”
This time, Eldrakar remained silent, as even he could not fully understand Evan’s situation.
He was certain that when he and Baphomet had first attacked Evan inside the Tomb of the Ancient, Evan had definitely not been Azroth. The way he had behaved back then was completely different from that man.
But immediately after their attack, Evan had turned into a completely different person, someone whose power was far beyond anything they could handle, even if both he and Baphomet joined forces.
The reason neither of them attacked immediately after catching up to him was because they feared that the same situation might repeat itself.
They had already suffered a great loss because of what happened last time and had no desire to experience anything like that again.
Just as Eldrakar was lost in thought, Baphomet suddenly spoke.
“What are you afraid of?” The demon monarch’s blood-red eyes glowed with intense anger.
“It doesn’t matter who he is. Even if he is the Shadow Monarch, what can he do to us? Last time, he was able to injure us because instead of fighting, we were focused on escaping from the Tomb of the Ancient so that we wouldn’t be trapped inside. But here…”
Strange runes began to glow within Baphomet’s eyes, and an aura of destruction spread outward in all directions.
’Eyes of Destruction…’
Evan felt the suffocating destructive aura filling the surroundings and immediately recognized Baphomet’s skill—the Eyes of Destruction.
He had heard about this skill from Sylavn and the others, as it was one of Baphomet’s signature abilities capable of utterly annihilating its target in mere seconds.
But—
’Trying to use something related to the Law of Destruction against me is useless…’
As that thought flashed through his mind, a golden glow erupted around Evan. A power of destruction that was not inferior to Baphomet’s spread outward from his body.
The Halberd of Destruction appeared in his right hand and he swung it lightly.
BOOOOOOM!
It was as if Elora had been triggered upon sensing the destructive aura pressing down on Evan. The golden glow around the halberd intensified instantly, completely blowing away the destructive effects of the Eyes of Destruction.
Baphomet was stunned when he saw this, and his gaze immediately fell upon the halberd in Evan’s hand.
Even though he did not know what kind of weapon it was, he could feel a vast and terrifying power within it—a power that was the very embodiment of destruction, as if the concept of destruction itself had originated from that weapon.
For the first time in thousands of years, Baphomet felt greed rise within his heart.
He wanted that weapon.
He could feel that if he obtained it, he might be able to reach the level that Azroth had displayed inside the Tomb of the Ancients.
Eldrakar was also quite surprised when he saw the Halberd of Destruction in Evan’s hand.
But unlike the greed that filled Baphomet, Eldrakar became even more cautious as he understood that anything capable of rendering the Eyes of Destruction ineffective was far from ordinary.
Of course, just like Baphomet and Eldrakar, Evan also had his own thoughts rapidly running through his mind.
The moment Baphomet used the Eyes of Destruction, he already knew that a battle was inevitable and was no longer any way for him to avoid it.
From the instant he had seen them and sensed their chaotic, unstable auras, as if they were not in their perfect condition, Evan had already begun planning his next move.
The best course of action would have been to escape and avoid battle for now, as his rank was far too low.
But he knew it was simply impossible. Baphomet and Eldrakar would never allow him to flee.
That left him with only one option—fight.
And since he was going to fight, Evan intended to do something big.
All of his skills, authorities, and other methods flashed through his mind one by one at incredible speed and in just a few seconds, he formed a complete battle plan.
’Everything depends on a single move…’
Evan’s eyes gradually turned indifferent and even under the overwhelming pressure of two peak Rank Six Core Evolvers, his mind became completely calm.
’If it succeeds, a peak Rank Six Core Evolver who has stood at the top of Utopia for thousands of years will fall here. If it fails…’
A faint smile curled onto his lips as intense battle intent burned within his eyes.
’Then this will be my end.’
Suddenly, without saying anything, Evan took a step forward. His figure blurred as he appeared directly in front of Eldrakar.
Of course, against Rank Four or even some Rank Five Core Evolvers, his speed would have been exceptional.
But in front of Baphomet and Eldrakar, he was as slow as a crawling turtle.
Even though he used Void energy to move, both Eldrakar and Baphomet easily tracked his movements and looked at him coldly.
Seeing Evan appear right before him and attempt to attack as if he didn’t even regard him as a threat, Eldrakar’s blood boiled with rage.
As a dragon, his pride was far greater than that of most beings. Now, seeing someone who clearly seems much weaker than him daring to attack directly caused his anger to explode.
“You bastard! You are dead!” The ruler of the dragons roared furiously and his hands moved at lightning speed, transforming into massive dragon claws that engulfed Evan’s entire body.
Evan watched as his entire vision was covered by the enormous claw, a sense of impending doom enveloping him.
He could feel that if those claws struck him, his body would be crushed into nothing but pulp and even with his Law powers, he would not be able to recover.
But despite knowing the danger, Evan did not try to dodge, and just before the claw struck him, he gave Eldraker a cold smile and the situation changed.
