Necromancer: I Am A Disaster
Chapter 880: The Human Race’s War God, Xiao Zhantian
Space rippled as God Sovereign Night Breeze stepped out beside Gu Qingxuan.
"What's wrong?"
Gu Qingxuan gave a helpless smile, "He's been standing here staring for two days already."
God Sovereign Night Breeze glanced at Lin Moyu and immediately understood.
Lin Moyu was clearly in a state of enlightenment. Faint ripples of law aura swirled around him.
There were certain things Gu Qingxuan didn't know. But as a God Sovereign, he understood them perfectly.
"It seems Young Friend Lin possesses an exceptionally high-grade soul." God Sovereign Night Breeze said.
Gu Qingxuan had suspected as much, "Could it be peak 2nd grade?"
God Sovereign Night Breeze merely smiled without answering.
His silence made Gu Qingxuan's heart skip a beat, "Master... are you saying he might possess a 3rd grade soul?"
God Sovereign Night Breeze shook his head, "I said nothing. Qingxuan, don't forget the rules of the human race."
Gu Qingxuan's expression immediately turned solemn,"I would never forget."
Among the human race, probing another person's realm, especially the soul rank and soul grade, was frowned upon.
Unless someone revealed that information voluntarily, one shouldn't even ask about it.
At best, such behavior bred resentment; at worst, it created a lifelong enemy.
God Sovereign Night Breeze looked at Lin Moyu, "This young man is extraordinary. Qingxuan, you should try to be friends with him."
Gu Qingxuan replied softly, "Master, you've always taught me to make more friends, and I have always followed your advice. But friendship also depends on fate. More importantly, both sides must be sincere."
God Sovereign Night Breeze nodded with satisfaction, "Exactly. Sincerity is the foundation of every genuine friendship. Without it, all you'll gain are fair-weather companions, and those are better not having."
"From what I can see, this young man is calm, steady, and mature. He is an excellent seedling."
"Those who can distinguish themselves and rise from a small world rarely disappoint. There are those in the greater world who look down on people from small worlds, but I have never shared that prejudice."
Gu Qingxuan nodded, "I understand."
God Sovereign Night Breeze disappeared, leaving Gu Qingxuan to continue waiting.
A task that should have been completed long ago ended up being delayed by another ten days.
Only then did Lin Moyu finally emerge from his state of enlightenment.
Opening his eyes and seeing Gu Qingxuan still standing there, he felt somewhat embarrassed.
"I've kept you waiting, Senior."
Gu Qingxuan smiled and shook her head, "Don't be so formal. Besides, I'm not that old. Don’t call me ‘senior.’"
Lin Moyu hesitated, "Then... how should I address you?"
He was still unfamiliar with the customs of the greater world and didn't want to offend through improper etiquette.
A gentle smile bloomed across Gu Qingxuan's elegant face, beautiful as a plum blossom blooming amidst winter snow.
"We humans are all descendants of the Human Emperor, sharing the same roots and origins. You can simply call me senior sister."
Lin Moyu nodded without hesitation, "Very well, Senior Sister Gu."
Gu Qingxuan asked, "Junior Brother Lin, were you able to comprehend anything from those five characters?"
Lin Moyu answered honestly, "The five characters contain a law, though it's incomplete. I didn't have enough time to gain much insight."
Gu Qingxuan wasn't surprised, "That's only natural. This is merely a branch of the Human Race War God Temple. Those five characters are nothing more than projections from the main temple."
"If you wish to comprehend the complete law one day, you'll have to visit the main temple."
"Where is it?"
"In the Central Starfield’s God City."
Lin Moyu nodded, "I'll go there someday."
Gu Qingxuan didn't doubt him, "Reaching God City isn't easy. It is the dream of every human expert. Countless strive to enter, yet only a handful ever succeed."
"The greater the challenge, the more worthwhile it is." The thought crossed Lin Moyu's mind, though he kept it to himself.
Gu Qingxuan chuckled, "Come. Let's begin the first step of your journey tp God City."
The two entered the War God Temple together.
A solemn, majestic aura filled the temple, and an immense pressure weighed upon everything within.
At the center of the temple stood a colossal statue that towered thousands of meters into the air.
Gu Qingxuan spoke softly, "This is the human race's War God—Xiao Zhantian."
"He was an unequaled powerhouse of our race, and the War God Temple was founded entirely by him."
"It is said that his inheritance remains within the main War God Temple in God City."
Lin Moyu immediately caught the implication in the word was.
"Is Senior Xiao no longer alive?"
Gu Qingxuan shook her head uncertainly, "He should still be alive... but he hasn't appeared for a very long time."
How could an unequaled powerhouse fall so easily?
Perhaps he was secluded somewhere, pursuing an even higher realm.
To someone of his caliber, the ordinary affairs of the human race were no longer worth his attention.
What he sought was a higher realm and greater power.
Gu Qingxuan led Lin Moyu to the foot of the War God's statue and bowed respectfully.
Every member of the human race paid homage here.
Long ago, humanity had stood on the brink of annihilation, and it was Xiao Zhantian who, with his unrivaled strength, turned back the tide of destruction and secured an enduring era of peace for future generations.
Lin Moyu followed suit and bowed respectfully.
The moment he lowered his head, an inexplicable sensation washed over him. It felt as though the statue were watching him.
He searched for the source of the feeling but found nothing. After a moment's thought, he dismissed it as his imagination.
After paying their respects, the two continued deeper into the War God Temple.
Tap. Tap.
Their footsteps echoed through the silent temple.
The farther they ventured inside, the heavier the pressure became.
Even the flow of air had disappeared.
Aside from the rhythmic sound of their footsteps, no other sound disturbed the stillness.
Gu Qingxuan stopped speaking aloud and switched to soul-echo, "In a moment, the War God Temple will assess you. It will record your bone age, assess your soul, and determine your cultivation aptitude."
"Don't worry. The temple won't pry into your secrets. No one except you will know the details of the assessment. Outsiders will only see your final evaluation."
Lin Moyu understood her meaning, "Don't worry. I won't hold back."
Gu Qingxuan continued, "Before the assessment begins, you'll first receive the greater world's law baptism. Only then can you achieve the highest possible evaluation."
"The higher your evaluation, the greater the rewards you'll receive, and the easier it will be to enter God City in the future."
"There are four ratings: ultimate, excellent, good, and poor."
"It would be best if you could obtain an excellent rating. A supreme rating would be even better."
Supreme represented the highest evaluation the War God Temple could bestow.
Lin Moyu nodded, "I'll do my best."
Deep within the War God Temple lay an enormous square.
High above, countless specks of starlight glittered like a miniature night sky, bathing the square in a gentle radiance.
At its center, a massive formation rotated slowly, emitting an unimaginably vast aura.
Standing before it, Lin Moyu felt as insignificant as an ant that could be crushed at any moment.
Compared to the power scale of the greater world, he was still far too weak.
This ignited an even stronger desire within him to become more powerful.
Gu Qingxuan explained, "This is the Grand Stellar Formation. It draws upon the power of the stars to supply energy to the entire War God Temple."
"The War God Temple is more than a temple of inheritance. It is also a temple of war."
"If war erupts, every War God Temple can become an extraordinary weapon."
Lin Moyu silently nodded.
From what he could sense, the War God Temple far surpassed even his Godslaying Fortress.
If fully activated, it could likely annihilate even God Kings.
Beyond the formation stood a row of stone houses of varying sizes.
Seated cross-legged before them was an old man clad in a plain green robe. His appearance was utterly unremarkable.
Yet the instant Lin Moyu looked at him, he felt as though he were gazing upon a mountain that pierced the heavens, an immeasurable peak whose summit lay forever beyond sight.
The sensation vanished as quickly as it had come, leaving him wondering whether it had been nothing more than an illusion.
