National Guardian's Gone and We're Done
Chapter 583 - 413: Whoever Knows the Right Thing to Do and Fails to Do It, For Him It Is Sin (Part 2)
The moment the words left his lips, he suddenly extended a finger.
The finger was fair and slender, yet it carried the aura of death.
He simply pointed gently at Hou Zhijian from across the void. The motion seemed soft, but it was like the Death God swinging his scythe.
In that instant, a blindingly pure white light exploded before Hou Zhijian.
The light coalesced into a colossal fingerprint, a fingerprint that seemed to possess a life of its own.
It radiated terrifying energy fluctuations, warping and distorting the very air around it.
In a single moment, Hou Zhijian felt an unstoppable, majestic force bearing down on him like a collapsing mountain.
He had no time to react at all.
His entire body was struck as if by a massive cannon, sent flying backward like a cannonball.
"BOOM!"
Hou Zhijian crashed heavily into the sea, instantly throwing up a colossal wave. The splash shot so high it seemed to dye the sky blue.
The massive boom echoed across the ocean surface, lingering for a long time and startling the nearby birds into scattering in all directions.
Seconds ticked by. The sea continued to churn, but there was still no sign of Hou Zhijian.
Beckett watched with cold eyes, his expression utterly unfazed.
Everything was within his expectations; he had merely done something trivial.
Witnessing this, the other members of the Defense Team paled.
Their eyes filled with shock and fury.
In their hearts, Hou Zhijian was their mainstay.
But now, he had been sent flying by a single move from Beckett, his fate unknown.
Without the slightest hesitation, they leaped, plunging into the sea like great dragons.
One after another, they dove into the turbulent waters, desperately searching for any trace of Hou Zhijian.
Fortunately, Hou Zhijian hadn’t sunk into the deep sea.
The Defense Team members quickly retrieved him, but the sight before them was heartbreaking.
Hou Zhijian’s face was ashen-white, and blood constantly poured from his mouth, dyeing the surrounding seawater red.
Although a sliver of clarity remained in his eyes,
his breathing was so faint it was barely perceptible.
Who would have thought that a mighty expert of the King-Sealing Realm would be so utterly defenseless before Beckett?
"Fleet, advance!"
Beckett didn’t pause for a moment. He ignored Hou Zhijian’s wretched state, turning to issue his command to the fleet.
The carpet of light constructed beneath his feet continued to extend forward, like a mysterious passage to the unknown.
Beckett leisurely stepped onto the strange carpet of light. With every step, his figure would instantly reappear a hundred meters away, moving with a dazzling, phantom-like speed.
The eerie carpet of light didn’t extend far.
A short distance away, three figures materialized from the void.
They were Xiao Yu, Nanting Snow, and Lin Zuoguang.
The trio’s expressions were grim, their gazes locked tightly on Beckett.
"Take Hou Zhijian to get medical treatment. We’ll handle things here," Xiao Yu said, his expression grave and his tone resolute.
This Beckett before them was from the renowned Bright Holy See, and his power was unfathomable.
For him to so brazenly intrude into the Great Xia Empire’s waters, he must have come prepared. ’It’s highly likely he’s learned that Master is in seclusion.’
’This means the Great Xia Empire’s tightly guarded secret has been leaked. There must be a traitor within.’
The thought filled Xiao Yu with helplessness and rage,
but he showed no intention of backing down.
At this moment, he and his companions were the Empire’s last line of defense.
Nanting Snow and Lin Zuoguang nodded silently.
The three of them stood shoulder to shoulder upon the vast sea, like three towering mountains,
prepared to face a difficult battle to protect the honor and glory of the Great Xia Empire.
The sea wind raged like a frenzied beast, its sharp howls threatening to tear at the eardrums. It churned the ocean into a tumult of rolling waves. Mountain-like surges rose and fell, slamming against the ships’ hulls with a deafening roar. The atmosphere grew heavy, as suffocating as a sky leaden with low-hanging clouds.
Xiao Yu, Nanting Snow, and Lin Zuoguang stood proudly in mid-air in a triangular formation, their robes whipping fiercely in the gale.
Their gazes were like three scorching lasers,
locked onto the man opposite them—Beckett, who emanated a frigid chill. Their eyes were filled with vigilance and resolve.
Beckett let out a disdainful snort, his bone-chilling voice piercing their eardrums. "I know exactly who you are. You three are nothing more than Chu He’s personal disciples.
"Look at you. You’ve only gotten this far by plundering the Divine Power of others, taking opportunistic shortcuts. You’re like an incredibly stupid farmer trying to help his seedlings grow by pulling them up, creating something misshapen and fundamentally unstable.
"Chu He might have some personal strength, but when it comes to teaching students, he’s a world apart from our Bright Holy See. He can’t hold a candle to us."
With that, the corners of his mouth twisted into an arc of pure ridicule, his face practically overflowing with contempt.
His condescending, holier-than-thou demeanor was enough to make anyone who saw it burn with anger.
Every single word was like a sharp, poisoned barb stabbing deep into the hearts of the three disciples.
For in the hearts of Xiao Yu, Nanting Snow, and Lin Zuoguang,
Chu He was a larger-than-life, omnipotent Deity,
the pillar of faith that guided them through this chaotic world, the brilliant Lighthouse that illuminated their long journey.
To them, Chu He was not only their revered master who taught them their skills, but also the guide for their very souls.
He was the one they would follow and protect with all their might.
Now, to be humiliated by Beckett in such a way, flames of fury instantly ignited in their eyes.
The flames flared high. Their chests heaved violently like volcanoes about to erupt, and their fists clenched unconsciously, knuckles turning white from the force. They looked ready to charge in and fight to the death at the slightest provocation.
