Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Tenseigan Chakra Mode

Before the Third Hokage could speak, Homura Mitokado adjusted his glasses and said, "Kakashi is Minato’s disciple. There’s no need to question his loyalty."

As the son of Konoha’s White Fang, the disciple of the Fourth Hokage, and one of Konoha’s heroes from the Third Shinobi World War, Kakashi had far too many honors attached to his name.

If even someone like him had to be viewed with suspicion, then there probably wasn’t a single shinobi in the entire village who could escape suspicion.

The Third Hokage nodded. "I’ll personally question Team Eleven about the matter in private. There’s no need to place the entire team under surveillance. They’re all trustworthy shinobi of Konoha."

"Trustworthy?"

Danzo sneered coldly before continuing, "Hyuga Kagami used to be one of Orochimaru’s subordinates. Who can guarantee that he isn’t a spy Orochimaru planted inside the village? Hiruzen, you’re being far too careless by allowing someone like him to remain in the Anbu!"

The Third Hokage was clearly displeased that Danzo was dragging up old matters again. He said in a deep voice, "Danzo, there’s no need to bring up the past."

Danzo refused to relent. "His name was once on the purge list. Someone like that absolutely cannot be allowed to remain in the Anbu. If you insist on having your way, then I’ll have no choice but to privately arrange for Root to keep him under surveillance."

The Third Hokage fell silent.

The fact that Hyuga Kagami’s name had once appeared on the purge list was like a thorn lodged in the Third Hokage’s heart, preventing him from ever completely trusting Kagami.

After all, no matter who it was, once they had been placed on a purge list—once they had been abandoned by the village—their loyalty would inevitably be greatly diminished.

With the Third Hokage tacitly giving his approval, Danzo said nothing more. Leaning on his cane, he left the Hokage Building.

Meanwhile, after parting ways with Shisui, Hyuga Kagami headed to the Forest of Death alone.

Not long after entering the forest, the little wild boar he had once used to test his poisons suddenly burst out from the thick undergrowth. It ran straight up to him, circling around his legs while sniffing at his pants.

"How... how did you get so big?!"

Kagami stared at the little boar, dumbfounded.

It had only been a little over a month. Back then, it had still been a tiny piglet, but now it had grown several times larger, nearly reaching Kagami’s waist.

Taking a closer look, Kagami realized there was hardly a patch of uninjured skin anywhere on its body. Scars covered it from head to toe, and even its fur had become sparse. Apparently, it frequently got into fights with the other wild beasts in the Forest of Death.

"You’re beaten up this badly, yet you’re still wandering around without a care in the world like nothing happened. You really are a pig, aren’t you?"

After muttering to himself, Kagami activated his Byakugan.

He carefully swept his gaze across the surrounding area. Only after repeatedly confirming that no one was hiding nearby and that there were no abnormal chakra reactions did he slowly close his eyes.

When he opened them again, the eyes within his sockets had transformed into a magnificent sapphire blue.

Then, he slowly formed a hand seal and shouted in a low voice,

"Tenseigan Chakra Mode!"

Whoosh—

Sky-blue chakra instantly enveloped his body, lifting him effortlessly into the air until he floated weightlessly above the ground.

The little wild boar nearby wasn’t particularly alarmed. It cautiously approached and sniffed him with its nose. After realizing that his scent hadn’t changed, it stuck its rump out and began circling around Kagami again, seemingly waiting for him to give it something to eat.

Kagami smiled faintly but paid no further attention to the little boar, focusing entirely on experiencing the Tenseigan Chakra Mode.

Although he had entered Tenseigan Chakra Mode before while in the Land of Lightning—and had even used the Truth-Seeking Balls to unleash Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion—that had been in the middle of a battlefield, and he had maintained the state for only a very short time.

Because of that, Kagami had never truly familiarized himself with Tenseigan Chakra Mode. He didn’t even have a clear understanding of how much chakra it consumed.

Now that he had secluded himself within the deserted Forest of Death, he could finally examine Tenseigan Chakra Mode without interruption, testing its various abilities as well as its chakra consumption.

Slowly descending back to the ground, Kagami, still enveloped in Tenseigan Chakra Mode, placed one hand against the earth and poured his Tenseigan chakra underground.

Very quickly, with him at the center, every chakra reaction within a radius of nearly five miles was transmitted directly into his mind through his Tenseigan chakra.

"My chakra-sensing range has increased by almost tenfold!"

Secretly delighted, Kagami poured even more chakra into his Tenseigan and focused his gaze on his surroundings.

With an abundant supply of chakra supporting them, his Tenseigan immediately erupted with an incomparably magnificent radiance. At first glance, they looked like two dazzling gemstones!

At that moment, everything within his field of vision became astonishingly clear.

Even the patterns on the wings of a moth dozens of yards away appeared to him as though they were right before his eyes.

Glancing at the little wild boar wandering around beside him, Kagami suddenly noticed that the chakra within its body had grown considerably stronger during this period. However, several of its chakra pathways were still somewhat obstructed and had yet to fully open.

The corner of Kagami’s mouth curled upward as he beckoned toward the little boar.

In an instant, the little boar involuntarily flew toward Kagami. No matter how desperately it struggled, it was unable to break free from the pulling force of Wheel of Will.

After pulling the little boar to his side, Kagami gently placed a hand against its abdomen and slowly infused Tenseigan chakra into its body.

The moment the Tenseigan chakra entered, the chakra within the little boar’s body instantly surged to several times its previous level. The few chakra pathways that had previously been obstructed were also forced open by the greatly strengthened flow of chakra.

"You’ve been testing poisons for me for so long. Consider that your compensation for all the hard work!"

In an excellent mood, Kagami smiled faintly.

The little wild boar, whose chakra pathways had now all been opened, staggered around as though it were drunk, grunting continuously while its steps swayed from side to side.

Paying no further attention to the little boar, Kagami concentrated and began attempting to form a Truth-Seeking Ball.

Unlike the last time, when he had effortlessly summoned nine Truth-Seeking Balls with barely a gesture, this time, without the support of the Giant Tenseigan, Kagami had to expend considerable effort just to barely form a single Truth-Seeking Ball.

Moreover, he could vaguely sense that the moment he actually used this Truth-Seeking Ball, his own chakra would begin draining away at an astonishing rate.

As Kagami casually played with the Truth-Seeking Ball in his hand, he thought to himself, "If I’m only maintaining Tenseigan Chakra Mode, my own chakra should be enough to last for about ten minutes. But if I actually use the Truth-Seeking Ball to unleash Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion or Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion, my chakra might be completely exhausted in an instant!"

Kagami had long since stopped caring about his lack of natural talent.

From his days at the Ninja Academy all the way through the Third Shinobi World War, he had always been an insignificant nobody in the eyes of others.

But so what?

He had still made it this far.

In the current shinobi world, how many people could casually toy with a Truth-Seeking Ball in the palm of their hand like this?!

He had already left countless people who once stood ahead of him far behind!

With a profound look in his eyes, Kagami gazed toward the distant sky.

"Heh, so what if my talent is poor and my chakra reserves are lacking? Any problem that can be identified... isn’t really a problem at all."
