Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Revolving Heaven Blade

After Kakashi lost consciousness, Hyuga Kagami had effectively taken over as captain of Team Eleven. So Guy didn’t dare argue any further. He immediately hoisted the unconscious Kakashi onto his back and began breaking out of the valley.

Several squads of Kumo shinobi immediately split off from the main force and gave chase.

At that moment, the elite Jonin leading the Kumo forces looked over Kagami and Shisui, who had remained behind, and suddenly smiled.

"What an outstanding group of juniors."

Kagami replied coldly, "Thanks for the compliment."

"My name is Fukado, commander of this garrison force." After a brief pause, the elite Kumo Jonin named Fukado continued, "I admire you. Unfortunately, all of you are going to die here today—including those two who escaped."

Kagami said nothing. Instead, he swept his gaze over their surroundings, his expression extremely grim.

Even excluding the Kumo squads that had just gone after Guy, there were still more than a hundred Kumo shinobi surrounding him and Shisui.

And among them, more than a dozen possessed chakra reserves at the Jonin level.

Worse still, the Kumo shinobi had sent out the signal that the secret supply depot was under attack a long time ago. By now, Kumo reinforcements were probably converging on this location from every direction.

Seeing that Kagami and Shisui still hadn’t given up hope even in such a desperate situation, Fukado couldn’t help but admire them. With a smile, he said, "If I manage to kill such outstanding juniors from Konoha, I suppose Lord Raikage won’t blame me too harshly for failing to defend the depot."

Kagami silently stared at Fukado, waiting for an opportunity.

As his strength had steadily improved, the maximum range of Wheel of Will had expanded to around 22 meters. If he was willing to overdraw his chakra at the cost of damaging his body, he could push that range even further, to roughly 25 meters.

At the moment, Fukado was about 21 meters away from him, which placed him within Wheel of Will’s effective range.

But considering that Fukado was an elite Jonin of Kumogakure, his strength was undoubtedly formidable. Twenty-one meters was still too risky. Ideally, Kagami wanted him within about fifteen meters before making his move. Only then could he be certain nothing would go wrong.

While silently calculating the distance between himself and his enemies, Kagami took a bottle of poison from his waist pouch.

During the previous battle, the paralyzing poison coating Kusanagimaru had already been mostly used up. He needed to apply another coating if he wanted the blade to retain its paralytic effect.

Everything had happened so quickly that he’d forgotten to do it earlier. With no other choice, he could only hurriedly apply poison to the blade right in front of all his enemies.

Seeing Kagami openly poison his short sword, the surrounding Kumo shinobi reacted with varying expressions.

Fukado frowned slightly and thought, "Why hasn’t Kurapa arrived yet?"

The reason the Kumo shinobi hadn’t attacked immediately was because they were waiting for Kurapa, an interrogation ninja from their village, to arrive.

As far as Fukado was concerned, Kagami and the others were already dead men walking.

But before killing them, he intended to make good use of them. At the very least, he wanted to extract some intelligence about Konoha.

At present, Kumogakure had yet to develop a secret technique capable of invading the brains of corpses to extract information. That was why they were waiting for the interrogation ninja Kurapa before making their move.

Once Kurapa arrived, even if they beat Kagami and Shisui to the brink of death, there would still be enough time to interrogate them on the spot.

Shisui immediately noticed the strange behavior of the Kumo shinobi. He whispered into Kagami’s ear, "Senpai, something seems off. It looks like they’re waiting for something."

Kagami had naturally noticed it as well. Knowing that they couldn’t afford to hesitate any longer, he said, "The moment we make our move, activate Susanoo immediately!"

Shisui didn’t ask why. He simply nodded seriously.

After giving Shisui his instructions, Kagami slowly began walking toward Fukado.

Fukado’s expression sharpened. He immediately ordered the surrounding Kumo shinobi, "Forget waiting. Attack!"

Before the words had even finished leaving his mouth, Fukado suddenly felt an enormous, indescribable force of attraction seize his body and drag him toward Kagami.

And it wasn’t just him.

With Kagami at the center, everyone within a twenty-one-meter radius—even Shisui—was caught by that tremendous attractive force and dragged toward him!

At that moment, Kagami tightened his grip on Kusanagimaru and shouted,

"Revolving Heaven Blade!"

Revolving Heaven Blade was an unconventional move Kagami had come up with after obtaining Kusanagimaru.

The idea was simple.

First, he would use Wheel of Will to drag every enemy in the surrounding area toward himself all at once. Then, with Kusanagimaru in hand, he would forcibly execute Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven.

Kusanagimaru’s blade would serve as the attack, while Revolving Heaven itself would serve as the defense, creating a technique that combined offense and defense into one.

The only problem was that Kagami hadn’t even had the chance to practice the idea in private before being sent out on this secret mission.

So now, with his life on the line, he could only force himself to try it for the very first time!

The tremendous attractive force of Wheel of Will dragged more than a dozen shinobi—including Fukado and Shisui—straight toward Kagami.

Forget the Kumo shinobi.

Even Shisui was staring at him in shock.

Although Shisui had seen Kagami use Wheel of Will before, this was the first time he had personally experienced its effects.

Fortunately, Kagami had already warned him beforehand, so he didn’t panic. He promptly activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and unleashed Susanoo.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

The sharp sound of a blade slicing through the air rang out at just the right moment.

Every shinobi dragged into Kagami’s vicinity by Wheel of Will was struck by Kusanagimaru to varying degrees.

Aside from Shisui, who was protected by Susanoo, every single one of them was cut by Kusanagimaru without exception.

After bringing Revolving Heaven Blade to a stop, Kagami panted heavily as he surveyed the results.

Using Wheel of Will over such a wide area and at such high intensity had completely drained what little chakra he had left. So he had to make absolutely certain that Fukado, the commander of the Kumo forces, had been struck by Kusanagimaru.

But at that very moment, among the Kumo shinobi he had cut down with Kusanagimaru, something unexpected happened.

Aside from the Chunin and Genin, every single Jonin vanished with a poof, dissolving into flashes of lightning.

"Lightning Clones!?"

Kagami’s heart jolted in shock.

A sufficiently advanced Shadow Clone Technique wasn’t necessarily something even a dojutsu user could see through. Kagami remembered that Kakashi had once successfully used a Lightning Clone to deceive Pain, despite Pain possessing the Rinnegan.

But knowing something like that could happen was one thing.

Having it happen to him, while trapped in such a desperate situation, was another matter entirely.

And it certainly didn’t feel good.

In truth, it wasn’t that Kagami had failed to notice anything at all.

His Tenseigan had vaguely sensed that something about Fukado seemed off. However, Kagami had never encountered a Lightning Clone before, so he hadn’t been able to determine that all the Kumo Jonin standing before him—including Fukado—were actually nothing more than Lightning Clones.

At that moment, Fukado and the other Kumo whose Lightning Clones had been destroyed emerged one after another from the shadows.

Fukado studied Shisui’s Susanoo with great interest before smiling.

"Heh. Looks like I underestimated you. Shinobi sent into enemy territory on this kind of suicide mission really do have a few tricks up their sleeves."
