Chapter 486: Chapter 486: Let the World Feel Pain

Hearing the confidence overflowing from Kagami’s voice, the expressionless Deva Path furrowed his brow.

Originally, Nagato had believed that the only member of the Kamigami he needed to pay attention to was their leader, Yama.

Later, however, he heard that Obito had been defeated by Homura of the Kamigami.

Although Nagato didn’t think much of Obito’s Mangekyo Sharingan, he knew that Obito’s ocular ability was extremely unusual and notoriously troublesome. An ordinary person couldn’t even touch Obito, much less injure him.

Because of that, Nagato had gradually begun paying attention to Homura as well.

But never had he expected that this Kamigami member—the one wearing a mask patterned with raging winds, whose reputation was nowhere near as prominent—would also be this troublesome.

Not only had he defeated Hiruko, who possessed five Kekkei Genkai, he had even nearly injured the Deva Path.

That was something Nagato absolutely could not tolerate!

"He has enough strength to threaten me!"

After reaching that conclusion, the Deva Path’s gaze sharpened.

For the first time, a trace of seriousness appeared within his previously indifferent eyes as he asked, "State your name!"

Kagami chuckled softly.

"Kamigami—Furin!"

"Furin..."

Nagato pondered the name for a moment, but he had no impression of it whatsoever.

Thanks to Zetsu’s unique abilities, the Akatsuki’s infiltration of the major shinobi villages had gone extremely smoothly over the years. They possessed at least some information on virtually every renowned powerhouse in the shinobi world.

Yet no matter how thoroughly Nagato searched his memories, he couldn’t recall a single powerful shinobi who possessed both Magnet Release and Shikotsumyaku.

This Furin of the Kamigami seemed as though he had simply appeared out of thin air.

Or rather—

the entire Kamigami seemed to have appeared out of thin air.

There wasn’t even the slightest trace in the shinobi world that could reveal where they had come from.

At that moment, Jiraiya seemed to make up his mind. He said solemnly, "Nagato, as your sensei, I can’t allow you to continue committing these atrocities. Today, I have to stop you!"

The Deva Path shifted his gaze toward Jiraiya and said indifferently, "Sensei, are you going to kill me?"

Jiraiya replied heavily, "If you refuse to change your ways, then I have no other choice!"

"Change my ways?"

The Deva Path curled his lips in disdain.

"Why was it justice when you destroyed Amegakure, yet when I destroy Konoha, I’m the one who needs to repent? Why is it always those of us from the smaller shinobi villages who are expected to repent?"

Jiraiya said helplessly, "Nagato, hatred has already blinded you."

"No!"

Shaking his head, the Deva Path said coldly, "I’ve simply awakened to the truth. Yahiko warned me with his life that dialogue cannot bring peace. Power is the foundation of peace.

"Only when everyone has experienced the same pain I endured will they understand how precious peace truly is."

His Rinnegan stared coldly ahead.

"So I will make the world feel pain!"

Jiraiya had never imagined that Nagato’s thinking had already become this extreme.

He actually intended to use fear and suffering to maintain peace throughout the shinobi world.

He had simply gone from one extreme to another.

Heart aching, Jiraiya said, "Can peace obtained that way truly be called peace? Living in constant fear, without laughter, without freedom—what difference is that kind of peace from a prison?"

Fragments of his childhood surfaced in the Deva Path’s mind.

"At least it’s better than dying inexplicably in your own home... dying by the roadside with no one caring... or dying silently in the wilderness...

"Laughter? Freedom?

"If you can’t even guarantee your own survival, what meaning do those things have?"

Jiraiya shouted, "That’s exactly why we should work even harder to change the shinobi world! You possess the legendary eyes of the Sage. You may very well be the ’Child of Prophecy’ destined to bring change to the shinobi world! Don’t continue down this wrong path—"

Before Jiraiya could finish, the Deva Path extended an arm toward him.

"Shinra Tensei!"

BOOM!

Under the tremendous repulsive force, Jiraiya was instantly blasted away.

Only then did the Deva Path say quietly, "Sensei... it seems you still cannot understand my pain."

Kagami, however, had no energy to spare on deciding who was right or wrong.

As his bloodline disease continued to worsen, this Type-A Wind Release clone was rapidly approaching its limit.

The joints throughout his body felt like rusted machinery. Even the slightest movement produced faint creaking sounds, while the muscles across his body were either weak and aching or spasming uncontrollably.

There was no doubt about it.

The characteristics of the All-Killing Ash Bones within this Type-A Wind Release clone were becoming increasingly pronounced!

And the first thing to suffer from them was none other than the Type-A Wind Release clone itself.

The characteristics of the All-Killing Ash Bones within his blood were gradually breaking down the functions of this body from the inside.

"Hiss... this really hurts!"

Cold sweat poured down Kagami’s body. If not for the mask covering his face, he wasn’t sure he could have maintained such an unruffled appearance.

Enduring the various pains and abnormalities wracking his body, he kept his eyes fixed on Nagato while analyzing the situation before him.

The Six Paths of Pain were nothing more than human puppets fashioned from corpses.

As long as Nagato, who possessed the Rinnegan, remained alive, these human puppets could simply be replaced over and over again.

Therefore, killing them was meaningless.

But the Deva Path before him was slightly different.

It had been made from the corpse of Nagato’s closest friend, Yahiko. To Nagato, the Deva Path possessed a unique significance that none of the other Paths could ever replace.

Nagato would never abandon the Deva Path.

And because of that, Kagami could use this particular human puppet to his advantage.

An idea quickly formed in his mind.

Turning toward Jiraiya, who had just been blasted away by Shinra Tensei, Kagami shouted, "Stop wasting your breath on him! If you want to talk things out, then at least defeat him first!"

Jiraiya also realized that unless they defeated Nagato first, any attempt to persuade him would be meaningless.

So he said nothing more.

Flipping back onto his feet, he rapidly formed hand seals with both hands.

But at that exact moment, the Deva Path extended both arms toward Jiraiya and Kagami.

With cold indifference, he declared—

"Chibaku Tensei!"

In an instant, Kagami and Jiraiya were seized by an enormous gravitational force.

Their bodies immediately became weightless and floated into the air. At the same time, the surrounding earth, rocks, and rubble began rising along with them.

Jiraiya’s expression changed drastically as he shouted at Kagami, "Quick, think of a way to break free! If it completely pulls us in, we’re finished!"

Jiraiya still had lingering fear toward Chibaku Tensei.

During their previous surprise attack on Amegakure, Nagato had instantly subdued him with this very technique. If Shisui hadn’t activated Susanoo and risked his life to save them, then both Jiraiya and the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki, Killer B, might have remained sealed inside Chibaku Tensei indefinitely.

This was actually Kagami’s first time being caught in Chibaku Tensei.

Even so, his expression remained unchanged.

Beneath his mask, his Byakugan rapidly scanned the surroundings. It didn’t take long before his gaze locked onto an inconspicuous little black sphere floating above him in the night sky.

That faintly glowing black sphere—

was the core of Chibaku Tensei!

At that moment, Jiraiya suddenly shouted, "What’s going on!? The gravitational pull is even stronger than last time!"

Jiraiya had no idea what changes Nagato’s body had undergone.

But he could clearly feel that the Chibaku Tensei Nagato had unleashed this time was vastly more powerful than the one he had used back in Amegakure.

The gravitational force was so overwhelming that Jiraiya couldn’t struggle against it at all...
