Chapter 426: A False World
Chapter 426: Chapter 426: A False World
In the original timeline, Uchiha Madara, as the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki and in his Six Paths state, had taken a direct hit from Eight Gates Guy’s Night Guy. Half of his body had been kicked away, yet even that failed to kill him. In just a matter of moments, he had completely regenerated.
Such regenerative ability could practically be called invincible.
And yet, Black Zetsu had been able to subdue him in a single move. Even though there had been an element of surprise involved, it was still enough to prove that Black Zetsu possessed a power capable of threatening even a Six Paths-level powerhouse!
Of this, Hyuga Kagami had no doubt.
The only thing Kagami was uncertain about was just how much of the Kekkei Mōra power Kaguya had left within Black Zetsu.
And more importantly—
How many times could he still use it?
If it could only be used once, then Black Zetsu would undoubtedly save it for the most critical moment—namely, to use it against the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki. In that case, the threat Black Zetsu posed would be considerably smaller.
But if that power could still be used twice, or even three times, then Black Zetsu was a threat no less dangerous than Nagato or Obito, and Kagami would have to be doubly cautious around him.
After calming his wandering thoughts, Hyuga Kagami swept his gaze over Shisui and Itachi.
"What do you two think about what’s written on this stone tablet?"
Itachi answered with a solemn expression, "A genjutsu is still a genjutsu. Something false will always be false. The Infinite Tsukuyomi cannot bring peace to the shinobi world."
There was no doubt that Itachi, who possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan dōjutsu Tsukuyomi, did not agree with the Eye of the Moon Plan recorded on the stone tablet—even if that plan had supposedly been proposed by the Sage of Six Paths.
Because Itachi understood better than almost anyone that the world of Tsukuyomi was something artificially created.
It was a false world.
And if the world itself was false, then peace within that world held no meaning whatsoever.
Shisui immediately shook his head as well.
"I don’t think peace obtained by deceiving and manipulating the will of others can be called true peace."
At this moment, although Shisui still had that pair of Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan in his eye sockets, he had only recently undergone the First Hokage cell transplantation surgery, and his body had yet to fully recover. For the time being, he was unable to activate the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.
Therefore, the contents of the stone tablet he knew were still limited to the portion that could be deciphered with the Mangekyō Sharingan.
As for the section concerning ’Yin and Yang become one, giving rise to all creation,’ which required the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan to decipher, he was still unaware of it.
"I’m relieved that the two of you understand that."
Hyuga Kagami truly did breathe a sigh of relief.
Although he had long known that Shisui and Itachi would never be misled by the Eye of the Moon Plan recorded on the stone tablet, hearing their thoughts with his own ears still put his mind considerably more at ease.
Immediately afterward, Kagami found the whole situation rather amusing.
Uchiha Madara and Uchiha Obito—two battle-oriented Uchiha who were hardly renowned for their mastery of genjutsu—firmly believed in the Infinite Tsukuyomi, a massive genjutsu cast through the moon as its medium. They believed that this was the only way to save the shinobi world and bring it peace.
Yet Shisui and Itachi, two genjutsu-oriented Uchiha whose mastery of genjutsu ranked among the very highest in the entire shinobi world, were instead deeply opposed to the Eye of the Moon Plan.
Putting aside the amusing thought, Hyuga Kagami turned to Itachi and asked, "What about the ancient records?"
Itachi immediately opened a hidden compartment within the secret chamber and took out several ancient texts. Their pages had long since yellowed, making their age obvious at a glance.
Hyuga Kagami sat down cross-legged and began leafing through them.
However, after only a short while, his brows knitted tightly together.
Although these ancient texts did indeed record the history of the Uchiha Clan, nearly every page was filled with accounts of how, in a certain year, the Uchiha had defeated some powerful shinobi clan, and then, some number of years later, defeated yet another powerful shinobi clan, and so on.
There might have been some important information hidden among these records, but as far as helping Hyuga Kagami find a way to deal with Obito was concerned, they were practically useless.
"Looks like all of the Uchiha Clan’s ancient texts concerning research into the Mangekyō Sharingan and analyses of its various dōjutsu were taken away by Madara!"
Although Hyuga Kagami had already expected as much, he still couldn’t help feeling disappointed.
Still, it made perfect sense. After the Uchiha Clan turned its back on Uchiha Madara, Madara had already come to regard the Uchiha of Konoha as traitors. Naturally, he would never leave important information concerning the Mangekyō Sharingan in the hands of a group of traitors.
The dōjutsu and forbidden techniques currently preserved by the Uchiha Clan had most likely been recollected and compiled through various other means afterward.
Seeing the disappointment on Hyuga Kagami’s face, Itachi asked, "Senpai, are these ancient texts of no use?"
Hyuga Kagami nodded lightly. "What I need are your clan’s ancient texts containing research and analysis of the Mangekyō Sharingan."
Itachi and Shisui exchanged glances, then shook their heads in unison.
After Uchiha Madara left the village, the Mangekyō Sharingan had practically become the stuff of legend among Konoha’s Uchiha Clan. Before Shisui, forget awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan—even those who knew about its existence were few and far between.
As a result, during that period, the Uchiha Clan’s research into the Mangekyō Sharingan had essentially ground to a halt.
Hyuga Kagami changed his approach and asked Itachi, "Suppose—and I mean suppose—Shisui and I both died, and Konoha and the Uchiha Clan were on the verge of being destroyed by Akatsuki. What would you do?"
Itachi froze for a moment before falling into thought.
Shisui also looked curiously toward Itachi, waiting for his answer.
After quite some time, Itachi asked, "Then what about En-senpai and Kaze-senpai?"
Hyuga Kagami was speechless.
"They’re finished too. You’re the only member of Kamigami left."
"That wouldn’t happen." Itachi shook his head. "There’s no way I’d be the last one to die."
Hyuga Kagami said, "Suppose you were lucky enough to survive until the very end. What would you do?"
Itachi answered seriously, "I would find a way to increase my strength and stop Akatsuki!"
"Good. That’s exactly the line of thinking I’m looking for." After a brief pause, Hyuga Kagami continued, "Pretend you really have been driven into such a desperate situation. Carefully draw up a plan for increasing your strength and hand it to me in two days."
From the ancient texts he had just gone through, Hyuga Kagami had found no information whatsoever concerning the two divine weapons, the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror.
Nor was he certain when, or by what means, Itachi in the original timeline had obtained these two divine weapons.
So for now, he could only place his hopes on this rather clumsy method.
After thinking it over again and again, Hyuga Kagami felt that as a divine weapon capable of instantly sealing a target from a distance, the Totsuka Blade was the perfect weapon for dealing with Obito once he had both eyes!
As long as the timing was right, a single strike would be enough to eliminate the enormous threat that was Obito once and for all.
That would be far easier than using Izanami. After all, activating Izanami not only required creating a closed loop of fate through physical interactions and recording those moments, but afterward, one Sharingan would also be permanently sacrificed.
Itachi, meanwhile, was completely bewildered, with no idea what Hyuga Kagami was getting at...
