The instant Obito’s hand landed on "Hyuga Kagami’s" shoulder, "Hyuga Kagami’s" body immediately began to distort.

Not far away, Shisui, whose back had been injured by the explosion of the explosive tags, stared warily at Obito.

He had also witnessed the bizarre scene just now, when Kakashi had passed straight through Obito’s body. Even with his Mangekyo Sharingan, he couldn’t figure out what exactly had happened.

Realizing that he might be facing the most powerful and bizarre enemy he had ever encountered, Shisui didn’t dare let his guard down. He turned to the still somewhat confused Naruto beside him and said, "I’ll deal with him. Run! Head toward the village!"

Shisui knew that the reinforcements sent by the village to support Team 11 had to already be on their way. As long as Naruto ran toward the village, he would soon encounter the main force of reinforcements.

Naruto didn’t know that Shisui was one of the ANBU secretly assigned to protect him, but he had clearly seen Shisui risk his own life to save him just moments ago.

So Naruto nodded and immediately took off running.

When facing Shisui, Obito felt an instinctive sense of wariness, especially toward Shisui’s Mangekyo Sharingan. Because of that, he avoided confronting Shisui head-on whenever possible.

Shisui furrowed his brows and thought, "What exactly is that? Genjutsu? Or Space-Time Ninjutsu?"

At that moment, figure after figure landed throughout the forest, with Danzo at their head.

Danzo swept his gaze over the surroundings before fixing his eyes on Shisui.

"Where’s the attacker? Where’s Naruto?"

Shisui pointed in the direction Naruto had fled. "The attacker just escaped! Naruto ran that way. I’ll go bring him back right now!"

"Stop!"

Danzo called out to Shisui just as he was about to chase after Naruto. His gaze flickered, as though he were contemplating something.

Shisui looked puzzled. "Lord Danzo, what is it?"

By this point, Kakashi had also gotten back to his feet while clutching his waist.

Unlike Shisui, whose thoughts were entirely focused on Naruto, the sharp-eyed Kakashi noticed the strange expression on Danzo’s face.

Just then, the captain of the Hokage Guard Platoon, who had already regrouped with Danzo, quietly approached Kakashi and whispered into his ear, "Someone attempted to assassinate the Hokage. The prime suspect is very likely Uchiha Shisui of your Team 11!"

Kakashi froze for a moment before immediately shouting, "That’s impossible!"

Kakashi’s loud denial seemed to make Danzo come to a decision.

Without the slightest warning, Danzo used the Body Flicker Technique and appeared directly in front of Shisui, who had only just lowered his guard.

The kunai in Danzo’s hand stabbed straight toward Shisui!

Shisui had never expected Danzo to attack him at such a critical moment, when the safety of the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki was at stake. Coupled with the injury on his back, the completely unprepared Shisui had no time to evade Danzo’s attack.

He could only hastily cast a genjutsu on Danzo.

In an instant, Danzo froze in place, as though he had lost consciousness.

With Shisui’s ocular power and mastery of genjutsu, even a genjutsu cast in haste was enough to subdue Danzo instantly.

But just as Shisui was about to figure out why Danzo had attacked him, the Danzo before him suddenly disappeared.

And the way he vanished was extraordinarily strange.

There was no cloud of smoke like when a Shadow Clone dispersed, nor was there any substitute left behind as there would be with the Substitution Technique.

It was as though some mysterious force had simply erased him from existence.

Shisui’s expression tightened.

"This is..."

Suddenly, without the slightest warning, Danzo appeared behind Shisui.

In the same instant, the kunai in his hand stabbed straight into Shisui’s back.

Shisui barely managed to turn his head.

"W-Why...?"

Danzo said coldly, "Hmph. You attempted to assassinate the Hokage and betrayed the village, and you still have the nerve to ask me why?"

With that, Danzo didn’t even give Shisui a chance to explain himself. He immediately reached toward Shisui’s eyes, intending to seize the Mangekyo Sharingan that contained the ocular technique Kotoamatsukami.

But just as Danzo’s fingers were about to touch Shisui’s Mangekyo Sharingan, a figure suddenly flew in with a kick aimed straight at Danzo!

At the same time, another figure scooped the injured Shisui into his arms.

However, the captain of the Third Hokage’s Guard Platoon stepped forward and said, "Lord Danzo, Uchiha Shisui is only a suspect. His guilt hasn’t been confirmed yet. Wouldn’t handling things this way be a little..."

Danzo cut him off and snapped, "I’ll personally explain everything to the Hokage! Right now, Uchiha Shisui is a dangerous individual. He must be eliminated immediately!"

With that, Danzo ignored the captain of the Hokage Guard Platoon. His figure flickered as he used the Body Flicker Technique and raced after Kakashi and the others.

Watching Danzo leave with murderous intent radiating from him, the members of the Hokage Guard Platoon exchanged uneasy glances.

After pondering for a moment, their captain said, "We’ll return to the village first. We need to report everything that happened here to the Hokage immediately!"
