Chapter 191: Chapter 191: Mangekyō Sharingan vs. Mangekyō Sharingan

Fugaku’s gaze swept over him, and Hyuga Kagami seemed to lose consciousness on the spot, standing there completely motionless.

The sight scared the hell out of Shisui!

In Shisui’s mind, Hyuga Kagami was practically invincible. If he absolutely had to name someone capable of dealing with Kagami, then after searching through everyone he knew, he felt that perhaps only Lord Third Hokage could match him.

That was why he never could have imagined that Kagami would fall under Clan Head Fugaku’s genjutsu so easily.

Shocked to his core, Shisui reacted almost entirely on instinct. Beneath his mask, his three-tomoe Sharingan instantly transformed into a four-bladed shuriken pattern as he activated his Mangekyō Sharingan.

At that moment, Fugaku slid the short blade in his hand back into the sheath at his waist. Slowly walking toward Shisui, he asked in a deep voice,

"Tell me the truth. Just who are you?"

Distracted, Shisui glanced once more at Kagami standing beside him.

Fugaku said coldly,

"There’s no need to look at him. He’s already trapped in my genjutsu!"

Staring at the pair of strangely patterned Mangekyō Sharingan in Fugaku’s eyes, Shisui swallowed lightly.

Then, feeling decidedly guilty, he took a small step backward.

Fugaku didn’t stop walking, continuing to close in on Shisui as he barked,

"Stop trying to hide it! Your taijutsu and the way you throw ninja tools are unmistakably Uchiha. That much cannot escape my Sharingan! Speak! Just who are you?"

From the very first moment Fugaku saw Shisui wearing a flame-patterned mask and a black cloak trimmed in gold, he had felt a faint sense of familiarity.

At the time, however, he had mistakenly assumed that the person beneath the mask was the rogue Uchiha Shinichi.

But now, he was almost certain that the masked man was not Shinichi at all, but another Uchiha clansman he knew personally.

While watching the battle earlier, Fugaku had been constantly trying to guess the man’s identity.

However, he understood Shisui’s personality well. He knew Shisui was the straightforward sort who might turn his back on the clan, but would never betray the village.

Because of that, Fugaku had ruled Shisui out from the very beginning.

Thus, even after racking his brain for quite some time, he still couldn’t figure out exactly which Uchiha clansman this strangely familiar masked man could be!

Faced with Fugaku’s relentless questioning, Shisui remained silent.

Fugaku’s gaze sharpened.

"Stop clinging to false hope. Before my Sharingan, you have nowhere to run!"

The instant Fugaku finished speaking, Shisui discovered that everything around him had turned black and white.

All things lost their sharp edges, gradually becoming blurred and distorted, like the chaotic scribbles of a child.

Suddenly, two enormous Mangekyō Sharingan appeared in the sky.

Their pattern was identical to the Mangekyō Sharingan in Clan Head Fugaku’s eyes. They resembled three-bladed shuriken, with a single black dot nestled between each of the blades.

The black and white continued to spread.

Little by little, it crept toward Shisui’s body.

At that moment, an icy voice came from the sky.

"If you truly are a member of the Uchiha Clan, then take off your mask yourself. I’ll give you one chance to explain!"

Watching the black and white gradually surge toward him, Shisui altered his voice and asked in confusion,

"What kind of genjutsu is this?"

The icy voice once again echoed from the sky.

"You don’t need to know what kind of genjutsu this is. All you need to know is that within this space, everything about you is under my control. There is nowhere for you to escape... Hm...?"

Halfway through his words, the voice in the sky suddenly faltered.

Just as the black and white engulfing heaven and earth was about to reach Shisui and drain the color from his body as well, countless black crows suddenly burst out from him.

The black crows circled around Shisui like a protective barrier, completely blocking the encroaching black and white from reaching him.

The previous composure vanished from the voice in the sky, replaced by shock and anger.

"This... How is this possible!? Your ocular power is actually this strong? Just who are you?"

"I... I... I am Homura of Kamigami!"

At the thought of doing this for the sake of the village and the clan, Shisui finally steeled his resolve.

"Don’t tell me you also possess the Mangekyō Sharingan!?"

After a brief pause, the voice in the sky suddenly erupted in fury.

"You’re not Shinichi, and you’re not Shisui! Then why do you possess the Mangekyō Sharingan!? Don’t tell me... you’re the mastermind who attacked the Fourth Hokage and unleashed the Nine-Tails!?"

The claim that the Nine-Tails had been controlled by the Sharingan during the Nine-Tails Incident was no malicious rumor.

Because on that night, Fugaku himself had seen the crimson pattern of the Sharingan reflected in the Nine-Tails’ pupils.

Thus, Fugaku had always suspected that somewhere within the clan—or perhaps outside the village—there was an Uchiha harboring sinister intentions who had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.

After all, only someone who had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan could possibly possess the power to control the Nine-Tails.

And since the culprit had indeed controlled the Nine-Tails, that meant they must have awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Now, seeing that this mysterious "Homura" possessed ocular power capable of contending evenly with his own Mangekyō Sharingan, Fugaku immediately turned his suspicions toward this unknown figure.

Consumed by anger, Fugaku unleashed the full power of his genjutsu.

In an instant, the enormous pair of Mangekyō Sharingan in the sky slowly began to rotate.

As they turned, the black and white surrounding them immediately grew thicker and more oppressive. Everything in existence was swallowed and erased by it until the entire space became an endless expanse of black and white, with the only remaining trace of color surrounding Shisui.

At the same time, beneath his mask, Shisui’s Mangekyō Sharingan also slowly began to rotate.

Two trails of bloody tears streamed down from his eyes...

......

On the river downstream from the bounty station.

Tap, tap, tap...

Amid the rapid sound of feet striking the water, one figure after another sped across the river’s surface.

As he raced forward, Sasori glanced back at the pursuers behind him, as well as the kunai, shuriken, and other ninja tools they were hurling his way.

His fingers twitched lightly.

One red-robed puppet after another moved into position behind him, some wielding sabers, others swords, forming a protective screen at his back.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Amid a flashing storm of blades, every kunai, shuriken, and other ninja tool flying toward Sasori was knocked aside by the red-robed puppets.

At that moment, the corner of Sasori’s mouth curled upward as his fingers danced nimbly.

The ten red-robed puppets under his control immediately opened their mouths and fired countless senbon at the pursuers behind them.

The Third Hokage’s expression darkened at the sight. He hurriedly spun the Adamantine Staff in his hands, knocking aside every senbon flying toward him.

The other Konoha ANBU also responded with their own methods, either dodging the barrage or using ninjutsu to defend themselves.

Splash!

Suddenly, an ANBU who had been struck by the senbon toppled forward and plunged into the river.

A nearby comrade hurriedly pulled him out, only to discover that his face had turned bluish-purple—an obvious sign of poisoning.

While quickly taking out an antidote, he shouted a warning,

"Everyone, be careful! The senbon are coated with deadly poison!"

At that moment, the Third Hokage shouted,

"Hokage Guard Platoon, stay with me and deal with this one! Everyone else, go after the other target!"

"Yes!"

The ANBU responded in unison before breaking away from the group and pursuing the other target.

Kakuzu, who had gradually put some distance between himself and Sasori, saw a large group of Konoha ANBU rushing toward him and cursed under his breath.

Immediately afterward, his figure flickered, and he plunged headfirst into the dense forest along the riverbank...
