Naruto: The Shameless Uchiha Tycoon
Chapter 91: No More Medical Leave
Ren held the Mangekyō active as the pattern settled inside his restored right eye.
Tsunade swore under her breath and immediately stepped closer. Green medical chakra gathered around her fingers before she pressed them lightly against his temple.
"Hold it exactly where it is," she ordered. "No technique yet."
Ren remained still while Tsunade followed the repaired pathways around the eye. She checked the sections that had fractured during the Nine-Tails attack, then moved her fingers lower to examine the treated Hashirama cells supporting the repair.
Thirty seconds passed.
The familiar pressure never appeared. His vision did not blur, and no warmth gathered beneath his eyelid.
Tsunade’s expression gradually shifted from anger to concentration. She continued examining the eye for another ten seconds before finally withdrawing her hand.
"Deactivate it."
Ren allowed the Mangekyō pattern to collapse back into three tomoe before the Sharingan faded completely.
Tsunade immediately checked his pupil and the skin beneath the eye. There was no blood and no new damage inside the repaired pathways.
"The activation itself is stable," she said. "That does not prove Black Vault won’t tear the repair apart the moment you open it."
Ren began fastening the upper buttons of his shirt. "Then we should test it."
Tsunade refused to conduct the practical test anywhere near the hospital. Too many medics, patients, visitors, and village personnel moved through the grounds, and even a sealed courtyard could not hide a spatial technique from someone specifically watching for unusual chakra.
Half an hour later, Ren and Tsunade reached a private training yard inside the Uchiha estate. The yard had been closed for the afternoon, and Pakura had already cleared the surrounding walkways before their arrival.
When Tsunade explained that she needed a controlled opponent capable of pressuring Ren without accidentally killing him, Pakura looked mildly offended by the qualification.
Ren drew an ordinary kunai from his pouch and rolled it once between his fingers, leaving a faint trace of Mangekyō chakra inside the metal.
His right eye changed.
The space around the kunai twisted inward. The weapon disappeared from his hand and entered Black Vault without the stabbing pain that had accompanied even the smallest use before his treatment.
Ren waited several seconds before opening a narrow rift above his palm. The kunai dropped back into his waiting hand.
Tsunade checked the monitoring seal she had placed against his temple. "Again."
Ren repeated the storage and retrieval twice. The technique consumed a noticeable amount of chakra, but his vision remained clear and the repaired pathways did not strain.
Tsunade recorded the result before turning toward Pakura. "Moving test. Start slowly."
Pakura drew a wooden practice blade. "How slowly?"
"Slow enough that I don’t have to repair him again."
Pakura stepped forward without further warning.
Ren activated the Sharingan in both eyes. Red Ledger caught the shift in her balance before the practice blade moved. He saw the path of the incoming strike and the brief opening that would appear beneath her raised arm.
He leaned outside the blade’s path and touched two fingers against Pakura’s ribs before she could recover.
Pakura stopped and looked down at the point where his hand had reached her guard.
"Again," she said.
Her second attack came faster. She threw the practice blade toward Ren’s chest and followed behind it, using the weapon to hide her approach.
Red Ledger showed him the blade’s path and the direction Pakura intended to move after it. Ren opened Black Vault directly in front of the incoming weapon.
The wooden blade vanished into the spatial tear.
Pakura continued through the opening, but Ren had already shifted aside. He caught her wrist, turned with her momentum, and stopped her with one arm pinned behind her back.
Both Mangekyō patterns remained steady.
Ren released her and stepped away. There was no blood beneath either eye, no clouding in his vision, and no violent pressure building inside his skull.
Tsunade examined the monitoring seal for several seconds before clicking her pen shut.
"The repair is holding during individual and combined use," she said. "The treatment fixed the damaged pathways and stabilized the cells supporting them. Normal use is no longer tearing the eye apart."
She glanced once more at the monitoring seal.
"You can still exhaust yourself if you burn through too much chakra, but that is a stamina problem, not another eye injury. The damage from the Nine-Tails attack is gone."
Ren looked toward Pakura’s missing practice blade. He reopened Black Vault and dropped it onto the grass beside her feet.
"So the medical leave is over."
"The medical leave is over," Tsunade confirmed. "Try not to make me regret saying that before dinner."
Once Tsunade finished the final examination, Pakura lifted the temporary restriction around the training yard and returned to the afternoon security rotation.
Ren crossed the estate and returned to his study alone.
He had barely placed Tsunade’s signed medical clearance on his desk when a sharp tapping came from the window. A small messenger hawk stood on the outer sill with the crest of the Hokage residence tied around one leg.
Ren opened the window and removed the narrow scroll tube.
The parchment inside appeared blank. He warmed the paper with a small flame held beneath his palm until elegant characters slowly emerged across the page.
Biwako’s message was brief.
Danzo has people watching your visits to Konoha General.
His office requested your treatment records and the stated purpose of those visits. The request was denied.
Someone inside the hospital still informed him that Tsunade has been providing you with ocular treatment.
He is comparing that information with the reports concerning the masked fighter who interfered during the Nine-Tails attack.
