Chapter 16: Easily Defeating the Amegakure Chunin

  • Next Chapter

In an instant.

The entire caravan, from the caravan leader down, erupted into a commotion.

Many people looked around in panic.

They had every reason to panic.

In a shinobi battle, even a kunai knocked aside or the aftermath of a ninjutsu could easily take their lives.

Reiji curled his lip, inwardly lamenting that he had a bunch of useless teammates.

With such an exaggerated reaction, the enemies would definitely know that they had been discovered.

Without hesitation, Reiji immediately launched a hand-seal-less Great Fireball toward the forest in the distance.

Boom—sizzle—

Weakened by the rain, the Great Fireball failed to inflict much damage, and the two shinobi hiding in the shadows easily dodged it.

One tall and one short, the two shinobi walked out of the forest.

Facing them directly, Reiji finally noticed that both of them were wearing Amegakure forehead protectors.

In other words, what the caravan leader had said earlier had come true.

Inside the Land of Rain, a caravan transporting supplies to the daimyo of the Land of Rain had been intercepted by Rain shinobi.

Seriously... there was nothing to say about this.

"Tsk, tsk. To think someone this young has already mastered ninjutsu. Looks like Konoha has produced another genius."

"Too bad geniuses are the easiest to die young."

The two Rain shinobi looked relaxed, completely unconcerned about Reiji and Might Guy.

The two of them were Chunin.

As for the two Konoha shinobi opposite them—

One was a strange man dressed in a green skintight suit who looked like a kappa. He did not even look like an adult, so clearly he could not be that strong.

The other was simply a little brat.

Even if the kid had mastered Fire Release ninjutsu, its power would be greatly reduced in a place like the Land of Rain.

"We’re taking this shipment. If you know what’s good for you, we’ll even give you a quick death."

The tall Rain shinobi spoke with a greedy look in his eyes.

How much money would all these supplies fetch if they were sold on the black market?

The caravan leader invoked the name of the Land of Rain’s daimyo in an attempt to intimidate them, but they did not care in the slightest.

Left with no other choice, he turned to Might Guy.

"Jonin-sama, it looks like we’ll need you to step in."

"Judging from their attire, I believe those two are Chunin from Amegakure."

He certainly did not think that a child like Reiji could defeat Chunin.

"There’s no need for Guy-sensei to deal with these two idiots."

Reiji raised a hand and lightly touched his eye.

Perfect.

These two would be just right for testing the abilities of his Two-Tomoe Sharingan.

After the Sharingan evolved to the Two-Tomoe stage, its genjutsu abilities had been greatly enhanced.

Reiji immediately gripped his kunai and charged toward the two Rain shinobi as if he were launching a desperate final assault.

The caravan leader became anxious, but seeing that Might Guy remained completely unmoved, he could do nothing.

The two Rain shinobi, however, simply sneered.

"Pretty brave."

"Then let us teach you a lesson before you die. In the shinobi world, bravery isn’t enough!"

As he spoke, the taller shinobi charged forward first. The short blade in his hand tore through the curtain of rain with a sharp whistle, swinging directly toward Reiji’s neck!

Buzz!

The scarlet Sharingan opened, and a genjutsu was cast silently.

The tall Rain shinobi slashed at the empty ground beside him, then suddenly turned around and swung his blade at his own companion!

Slash!

The short blade cut across the shorter Rain shinobi’s chest. Completely caught off guard, he took the blow without even understanding what was happening.

Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings!

From the tall shinobi’s perspective, his companion had now taken on Reiji’s appearance.

After suddenly stabbing his companion, the tall shinobi grinned viciously and began hacking at his teammate again and again.

"Hey! Have you gone mad... Damn it, is this a genjutsu?"

The shorter shinobi was furious and wanted to help dispel the genjutsu, but under his companion’s frenzied attacks, he had no opportunity to do so.

His heart hardened. He dodged another slash and, with a cold look in his eyes, directly slashed toward his companion’s chest!

Taking advantage of the other man’s agony, he finally found an opportunity to release him from the genjutsu.

Clap, clap, clap!

A round of applause came from nearby.

Reiji wore a smile as he leisurely said,

"Not bad, not bad. You two really have given me quite a lesson."

The entire caravan behind him was completely dumbfounded.

From their perspective, they had no idea why the two Rain shinobi had suddenly started fighting each other.

At this moment.

No one dared to look down on Reiji because of his young age.

"...You damn brat!"

The tall Rain shinobi endured the intense pain in his chest and gritted his teeth.

He had actually been controlled by a genjutsu cast by a kid who was not even ten years old.

"Attack together. Take them out as quickly as possible!"

The shorter Rain shinobi spoke in a low voice.

He was also burning with anger.

The other Konoha shinobi, the older one, had not even made a move yet. Just one child had already left the two of them in such a miserable state!

Reiji drew the short blade from his back and held it upright in front of him. His smiling face was reflected on the pale blade.

"Then let me teach you two a lesson as well."

"There’s an old saying in the shinobi world: when facing an Uchiha one-on-one, run. When facing two-on-one, stab them in the back."

"Of course, you two are so weak that even stabbing me in the back with two against one wouldn’t work."

Uchiha?

The two Rain shinobi exchanged glances, an ominous feeling rising in their hearts.

They looked up and, sure enough, saw Reiji’s scarlet eyes.

Two pairs of black tomoe revolved within them.

A Two-Tomoe Uchiha...

What kind of person had they run into?

Could he be one of the prodigies of the Uchiha’s new generation?

Regret began to surface in their hearts, but knowing that there was no way out, the two Rain shinobi endured their injuries and attacked Reiji from two different directions, one from the front and one from behind!

"Didn’t I already say it? Even stabbing me in the back won’t work."

Reiji easily fought the two of them using taijutsu, weaving between their attacks.

Before long, he defeated the two Rain shinobi, who were already badly injured.

"Perfect. I’ve been wanting to find someone to test a few more destructive genjutsu on. You two will do nicely."

A smile curled at the corners of his lips, and his voice sounded like the whisper of a demon.

"Don’t worry. It’ll only hurt a little."
