Chapter 105: Reinforcements of One, First, Wipe Out the Hidden Grass Village

  • Next Chapter

Jiraiya and Nara Shikaku looked at each other.

They both felt as if their minds had completely stopped functioning.

What was going on?

The battle on the Hidden Cloud side was already over?

After being stunned for a moment, Nara Shikaku was the first to recover. He cleared his throat.

"Silence!"

"Report the exact situation in detail."

The messenger ninja stepped out from the crowd, cleared his throat, and gave them a detailed account of the battle on the Hidden Cloud side.

First, Reiji had led more than a hundred people to intercept Killer B and directly captured him alive.

He had even signed a summoning contract, turning both Killer B and the Eight-Tails into summoning beasts.

Then, when Konoha’s main forces encountered the Hidden Cloud army and the two sides became locked in a stalemate, Reiji arrived first.

He easily crushed the Fourth Raikage and then relied on the power of Susanoo and the Eight-Tails to completely annihilate the Hidden Cloud army!

Nara Shikaku was dazed after hearing the report. Suddenly thinking of something, he immediately asked,

"Wasn’t Killer B a Perfect Jinchūriki? How could he still be controlled by the Sharingan?"

The messenger ninja shook his head.

How would he know about something like that?

Anyway, as long as Lord Reiji was awesome, that was all that mattered.

"The Sharingan is indeed said to possess the ability to control Tailed Beasts, but I didn’t expect it could even control a Perfect Jinchūriki."

Jiraiya frowned deeply.

The legend of the Sharingan being capable of controlling Tailed Beasts originally came from the battle in the Valley of the End, where Uchiha Madara controlled the Nine-Tails and fought the First Hokage.

A few years ago, the Nine-Tails’ rampage had also apparently been caused by someone using the Sharingan to control it.

"So the threat from the Hidden Cloud has been completely resolved?"

Nara Shikaku breathed a sigh of relief.

"That’s right!"

The messenger ninja’s eyes were filled with admiration.

"Lord Reiji has already returned to the village with everyone who went out to intercept the Hidden Cloud."

"We basically didn’t suffer many casualties, while the Hidden Cloud was beaten so badly that they are probably wondering how much compensation they need to offer before we’ll be satisfied."

Hearing this, another round of cheers erupted from the Konoha shinobi nearby.

The battle on the Hidden Cloud side was already over, so their side should be receiving reinforcements soon.

Compared with how easily the war had ended on the other side, their battle here had been extremely difficult.

Not only had they failed to drive the enemy back after all this time, but their own casualties continued to rise.

"It would be great if Lord Reiji were leading our forces."

Someone couldn’t help complaining.

The others couldn’t help nodding when they heard this.

The difference between Reiji and Jiraiya, the two commanders, was being displayed in the most obvious way possible.

Although the voice had been very quiet, Jiraiya still heard it, and the corner of his mouth twitched.

Was he really doing that badly?

Had they already started disliking him?

Nara Shikaku cleared his throat twice before asking,

"Since the battle on the Hidden Cloud side is over, I wonder when the reinforcements can arrive?"

The war here also needed to end as soon as possible.

Fighting on the territory of the Land of Fire for too long would result in enormous losses.

The messenger ninja hurriedly took out a kunai.

"Lord Reiji asked me to bring this over. He said that after I arrived, I only needed to inject chakra into it."

Hearing this, the expressions of both Nara Shikaku and Jiraiya changed.

They looked at the kunai and saw the black markings of the Uchiha clan’s crest on it.

"Could it be... that he learned the Flying Thunder God Technique?"

Jiraiya asked in astonishment and uncertainty.

"It’s certainly possible. Uchiha Reiji personally went to inspect the Scroll of Seals before. Perhaps he copied the Flying Thunder God Technique from it at that time."

Nara Shikaku said, but then fell silent.

Not much time had passed since the Uchiha coup ended, and since Uchiha Reiji had gone to inspect the Scroll of Seals.

He quickly calculated the time in his mind.

If Reiji had started learning the Flying Thunder God Technique back then and had already mastered it now...

This...

Even the Fourth Hokage hadn’t learned it this quickly back then!

Seeing that neither of them was saying anything, the messenger ninja simply injected chakra into the kunai.

After waiting for a moment—

Whoosh!

Reiji’s figure suddenly appeared out of thin air!

"...It really is the Flying Thunder God Technique."

Jiraiya muttered to himself.

He could clearly confirm that Uchiha Reiji had appeared out of nowhere!

He had actually mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique in such a short period of time!

Now he understood why Reiji had been able to defeat the Fourth Raikage of the Hidden Cloud.

In front of a Space-Time Ninjutsu like the Flying Thunder God Technique, even the Fourth Raikage, known as the fastest shinobi in the world, was no match!

"You’re still inside the Land of Fire?"

"You have this many people, yet you still haven’t managed to drive the Hidden Stone out of the Land of Fire?"

Reiji’s expression was displeased.

When he had used the Flying Thunder God Technique to come here, he had immediately confirmed the spatial coordinates.

They were still within the Land of Fire!

Wasn’t Nara Shikaku supposed to be some kind of genius military strategist?

How could he be this useless?!

"...Lord Jiraiya is responsible for the overall command."

Nara Shikaku felt that he had to defend himself.

He wasn’t taking the blame for this!

Reiji glanced at Jiraiya and smiled.

"You told me before not to overestimate the power of an individual, that there were limits to what one person could accomplish."

"Now, you’ve done a very good job of proving that point."

"Since the Hidden Cloud side is already finished, inform the Hidden Stone of the battle report afterward. I imagine they won’t want to keep fighting either. We should be able to negotiate peace soon."

Jiraiya’s face flushed red. He was so angry that he nearly rolled his eyes, but he forcefully controlled his emotions and said,

"Negotiate peace? Are they even worthy of negotiating peace with us?"

Reiji did not conceal his displeasure in the slightest.

"Besides, we haven’t taught the Hidden Stone a proper lesson yet. How could we possibly end things like this?"

Seeing that Jiraiya was about to speak, Nara Shikaku also advised,

"Lord Jiraiya, the Hidden Stone started this war. There is no reason for us to take the initiative to negotiate peace now."

"Moreover, if we take the initiative to negotiate, it will be difficult to say how much compensation they’ll be willing to pay afterward."

"Is that really necessary? I think it would be better if everyone could simply sit down and have a proper discussion. Compensation is secondary."

Jiraiya said.

Hearing this, the expressions of Reiji and Nara Shikaku both became somewhat strange.

This way of thinking was simply too naive!

Was this really something Jiraiya, one of the legendary Konoha Sannin, had just said?

"Tsk, tsk. That old bastard Sarutobi Hiruzen didn’t ask for compensation after winning a war either."

"As for you, you don’t want compensation either. Is that because you’re stupid?"

Reiji said without the slightest politeness.

He had thought he already understood Jiraiya well enough.

He had never expected Jiraiya’s naivety to still exceed his imagination!

The enemy had invaded them of their own accord, and Konoha now held an overwhelming advantage, yet Jiraiya still wanted to take the initiative to negotiate peace and didn’t care about compensation.

That was simply too stupid!

Did he really think the Hidden Stone Village would appreciate his kindness?!

Thinking about it now, Yahiko and the original members of the Akatsuki being killed through the joint schemes of Hanzo and Danzō could not be blamed entirely on how evil Hanzo and Danzō were.

Yahiko and the others being foolish was also an important factor!

They believed in Jiraiya’s ideals, yet they were doing so in a place like the Land of Rain, where even an ordinary level of strength was nowhere near enough to survive!

They needed at least Super Shadow-level strength to survive there!

"I don’t want to hear any more of your foolish nonsense. Just tell me about the situation on the Hidden Stone side."

Reiji no longer paid attention to the Jiraiya who had been angered once again and asked directly.

Nara Shikaku hurriedly said,

"The Hidden Stone and Hidden Grass Villages have joined forces to invade us. Of course, the majority of the forces are from the Hidden Stone, and their shinobi are very experienced."

"The average strength of the Hidden Grass shinobi isn’t particularly high, but for some reason, their chakra and physical stamina recover extremely quickly."

Reiji slowly nodded, deep in thought.

Come to think of it, Karin, who possessed the bloodline of the Uzumaki clan, had originally been from the Hidden Grass Village, hadn’t she?

The Hidden Grass shinobi’s rapid recovery should have something to do with this.

"I’ll go to the Hidden Grass Village first and take a look. If they’re sensible, then it’ll be easy to handle."

"But if they aren’t, wiping out the village directly won’t be a problem either."

Reiji sneered.

"Only you? Isn’t that a little too risky?"

Nara Shikaku frowned.

Although the Hidden Grass Village was only a minor shinobi village, its strength was not weak.

Even if Reiji could borrow the power of the Eight-Tails, going there alone could still lead to unforeseen problems.

"Hey, if we can end the war easily, there’s no need to cause more casualties, right?"

Jiraiya couldn’t help trying to dissuade him.

From Nara Shikaku’s reaction, it seemed that he didn’t think there was anything wrong with wiping out the Hidden Grass Village. He was only worried that it might be somewhat risky!

This was too crazy!

"I suggest you stay out of things as much as possible. With a brain like yours, and your strength still being insufficient, you won’t accomplish anything."

Reiji said without the slightest courtesy.

If Jiraiya possessed the future Naruto’s Six Paths-level strength, then he could talk about following his own shinobi way.

But the problem was that his strength was not strong enough, while his thinking was naive to the extreme!

Every day, he did nothing but peep at women and write his novels, placing all his hopes for peace in the shinobi world on some Child of Prophecy!

It was simply laughable!

After saying this, Reiji no longer paid attention to Jiraiya and headed alone toward the Land of Grass.
