Chapter 210: The Doomed Raikage

The two parties were extremely close. In a situation like this, leaving a snake inside the sloughing skin to act as a coordinate while the main body reverse-summoned into Ryūchi Cave to hide would carry immense risks, and upon coming back out, there was a high probability of being attacked by the Third Raikage.

He could only use his serpent-transformed modified body, tucking himself into a corner of the snake skin like bone-shrinking techniques to minimize his target area as much as possible.

However, the opponent’s speed was too fast, and he still sustained some injuries.

Had it not been for Yin Healing Wound Destruction, this wound would only have been deeper.

Wisps of white steam emerged from the wound, and Uchiha Gen unhesitatingly swallowed a specially crafted Military Rations Pill.

Under the effects of Medical Ninjutsu and the Healing Body, even severe injuries could be brought under control.

“Hiss— When old folks start fighting for their lives, they really are fierce like monsters.”

Uchiha Gen gasped inwardly, unable to help complaining silently.

This was already a Hell Stab weakened by the third-stage Susanoo; even with the Sengoku Ninja Sword in hand, he was still at a disadvantage in the clash.

But at least he had managed to barely endure it.

If Uchiha Gen didn’t have enough self-preservation methods and strong enough recovery power, even if he hadn’t died just yet, he would have definitely lost his combat capability due to severe injuries.

As for now, under the dual effects of Medical Ninjutsu reinforced by powerful Yang Release and Military Rations Pills made based on the Healing Body, although he was quite heavily injured, it hadn’t reached the point of affecting his combat capability yet.

In fact, the longer the fight dragged on, the more his injuries would recover, and his state would only get better and better.

His health bar hadn’t even dropped by a third, and he was still rapidly regenerating health.

Taking a deep breath, Uchiha Gen cast his gaze back toward the battlefield.

“What a pity. I originally planned to use the Multi-Shadow Clone Technique combined with the Phantom Body Flicker Technique to ambush the Third Raikage, but now I can only make him suffer a minor setback.”

These Shadow Clones hidden underground were a temporary trump card left behind when the Third Raikage charged toward Danzo but was ultimately blocked by the Nightmare.

If he had been able to block the Third Raikage’s Hell Stab just now, these Shadow Clones would have also appeared, cooperating with the Phantom Clone to ambush him just as he had envisioned.

If the Third Raikage misjudged the location of his main body, there was a high probability that he would have taken a hit from him.

By then, the Third Raikage would inevitably have taken a full-power output of Amaterasu driven by his Ocular Power, leading to certain death.

But if it failed, they could only do as they were doing now: let piles of Shadow Clones swarm forward to buy time and protect the main body.

This move was frequently used by Naruto when facing troublesome enemies in the original timeline, then seizing the opportunity to look for flaws—sometimes judged by companions like Kakashi and Sasuke relying on their supreme combat IQ, and other times relying on Naruto’s own exceptionally brilliant combat awareness to pull off all sorts of unpredictable operations and take down the enemy.

Uchiha Gen had to admit that this move was indeed useful, effectively entangling the Third Raikage for the time being.

Otherwise, if the Third Raikage had seized the opportunity to press the attack, he truly might have been heavily injured.

Soon, black lightning surged forth once more, breaking Uchiha Gen’s Shadow Clones one by one.

However, this time, Danzo finally returned to normal, clearing away a large swath of black lightning with a powerful Wind Style: Great Breakthrough.

Meanwhile, Uchiha Gen’s massive Susanoo reconverged at a visible rate, reaching the third stage.

Bones, flesh, armor!

The half-body giant with a black face, yellow eyes, and heavy armor drew its bow and nocked an arrow, aiming squarely at the Third Raikage.

Atop the arrow, black flames blazed fiercely, as if they were going to burn a hole right through space.

Simultaneously, even more Shadow Clones burrowed out from underground, swarming toward the Third Raikage in a mad rush to trap him.

From this moment on, the battle fell into Uchiha Gen’s rhythm.

Facing the endless stream of Shadow Clones and Wind Style, no matter how strong the Third Raikage’s defense was or how terrifying his impact force, it was difficult for him to break through for the time being. Under the keen insight of the Mangekyō Sharingan, Uchiha Gen had a considerable degree of certainty of landing a hit with this arrow.

“Go!”

The sound of tearing through the air rang out as the arrow of black flames rent the air, shooting forward with a piercing whistle.

Things did not exceed his expectations.

The entire Raikage family were essentially stat monsters—either their defense was maxed out, or their speed was maxed out.

Hitting the Third Raikage was certainly difficult, but not impossible; the truly most difficult part was actually breaking through his defense.

Although Amaterasu’s battle record was lackluster, it was equivalent to carrying a buff that guaranteed continuous health drain upon hit, and true damage at that—which happened to perfectly counter the Third Raikage.

“Boom!!!”

A terrifying shockwave exploded with the Third Raikage at its center, instantly wiping out all of Uchiha’s Shadow Clones in the surrounding area and causing him to grunt involuntarily.

He wasn’t as thick-skinned as Naruto, able to keep a straight face while simultaneously enduring the death feedback transmitted by multiple Shadow Clones.

Even so, a pair of eyes bearing a hexagram pattern still stared fixedly at the very center of the explosion.

The violent shockwave subsided, and the smoke and dust filling the air from all directions settled down accordingly.

The miniature-giant-like figure still had not fallen; only most areas of his arms and back were covered in black flames emanating an ominous aura.

Paired with the leaping blue electrical currents all over his body and his entire body covered in blood, it was filled with a tragic and fierce aura.

The Third Raikage was still alive!

“He is heavily injured! Most of his body has also been burned by Amaterasu, and he is not far from death!”

Danzo gripped his cane sword in hand, staring excitedly at the Third Raikage, while forming hand seals with his single other hand, preparing to cast Wind Style once more.

Although the credit for heavily injuring the Third Raikage belonged to Uchiha Gen, if he could successfully steal the kill before the Third Raikage died, he would undoubtedly reap massive renown.

With just a little maneuvering, everyone would know that the Third Raikage ultimately died at his, Danzo’s, hands.

Killing a Kage on the battlefield!

What kind of monumental achievement and extraordinary glory would that be?

This was an existence on par with the status of the Third Hokage, an existence that Sarutobi Hiruzen could only fight to a draw one-on-one on the battlefield.

If he, Danzo, could cut him down with his own hands, wouldn’t that prove he was stronger than Hiruzen?

Danzo was still secretly looking forward to it, while the Third Raikage himself knew very well that given his current condition, death was certain.

If only a section of his arm or something had been burned by Amaterasu, he could still sever his limb to survive, but too many places on his body were now contaminated by Amaterasu.

If they were cut off, he would instantly suffer severe injuries on the spot, leaving behind hardly any combat power, and would only die even faster.

The scorching flames ruthlessly burned his flesh, yet the Third Raikage gritted his teeth hard, keeping a straight face as he pondered countermeasures.

To him, pain had long since become an everyday occurrence.

From this moment on, his life was destined not to be saved, so what he should consider now was what value his death could exchange for.
