"If I didn’t hold you back, who would you choose to help?" Shin asked Aizen.

"I was once a Soul Reaper," Aizen said with a gentle smile. The meaning was clear: he was once a Soul Reaper, so if he were to act now, he would naturally help the Soul Reapers. The Quincy were not his allies.

And from a practical standpoint, Aizen would never choose to help the Quincy. The reason was simple: a glance at the man standing beside him was enough to know which side to choose. His intuition told him that if he chose to help the Quincy, he would likely find himself sealed away once more.
