Life continued, calm and without ripples. If there was any change, it was Senjumaru Shutara.

She had been staying here for a year now and still hadn’t left, which left Shin speechless. ‘Was I not clear enough? Or does she actually think she has a chance to convince me to join Squad Zero?’

In reality, Senjumaru had already given up. But even after giving up on recruiting him, she didn’t want to leave.

She found the Seireitei far more interesting than the Royal Palace, and she began to understand why Shin had no desire to join Squad Zero.

“Compared to the Royal Palace, this place is much more fun. It’s a shame I have to leave,” Senjumaru said with a look of regret.

“Oh? You’re leaving? That is a pity,” Shin said, sounding terribly disappointed.

“Could it be that you can’t bear to see me go?” Senjumaru asked, hearing his tone.

“No, I’m not reluctant to see you go. I’m reluctant to see your money go. If you leave, the free meals stop,” Shin said with a look of genuine financial loss.

“So you were only after my money all along?” Senjumaru rolled her eyes at him.

“Phew. Finally, someone is leaving.” Yoruichi exhaled loudly, looking visibly delighted.

To be honest, Yoruichi really didn’t like Senjumaru staying here. The sooner she left, the better.

“I can’t believe we’ve lived together for a year and our relationship is still this bad. By the way, I hate you too,” Senjumaru said, turning her head to address Yoruichi coolly.

The relationship between her and Yoruichi was terrible. Yoruichi couldn’t stand her, and Senjumaru had no affection for Yoruichi either.

“Shin, farewell. Perhaps I will come to find you again in the future,” Senjumaru said with a final smile at Shin.

With that, she departed to return to the Royal Palace. Truthfully, her year-long stay was an anomaly.

If she stayed any longer, Ichibē Hyōsube—the Monk—would likely come down personally to drag her back.

Members of Squad Zero were absolutely forbidden to leave the Royal Palace unless it was a matter of utmost importance. They had to protect the Soul King.

But in reality, the Soul King was a joke. A tragic, cosmic joke.

Although the Soul King was the linchpin holding together the Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the World of the Living, he lived in the most humiliating way possible.

Even the title of ‘Ruler’ was in name only.

He only existed—only remained alive—because the stability of the worlds required his Reiryoku to maintain balance. If the Soul King died, everything would collapse into chaos.

“I have some business to attend to, so I’m leaving the affairs of the 2nd Division to you guys,” Shin said, starting to walk out.

However, before he could escape, he was grabbed. Yoruichi glared at him.

“Where do you think you’re going? Honestly, you are a terrible Captain for the 2nd Division,” Yoruichi scolded.

“Am I? Where have I failed?” Shin asked with a smile, refusing to admit any fault.

Seeing Shin deny it, Yoruichi grew even more annoyed, shooting him a glare.

“Fine. Since you force me to say it, don’t blame me for not saving you any face.”

“First of all, you dump all of the 2nd Division’s work on me and Soi Fon. Have you ever actually handled the 2nd Division business?” Yoruichi asked, full of resentment.

“Lady Yoruichi isn’t exactly in a position to say that…” Soi Fon muttered quietly from the side, only to receive a sharp glare from Yoruichi.

Soi Fon felt wronged. If anyone had the right to complain about hard work, it was her. No one knew the struggle better than she did.

‘I really am unlucky,’ Soi Fon thought to herself. In the past, she had been willing to handle these tasks, but even she was getting tired of it now.

She was only the 3rd Seat, yet she was shouldering the responsibilities of a Captain.

“You hear that? Did you hear what Soi Fon said?” Shin asked Yoruichi with a laugh.

“Yes, I heard her. But so what? Does that mean you can just refuse to admit your mistakes?” Yoruichi demanded.

‘Don’t forget how lazy you are. You’re practically an expert at slacking off.’

Running off now… he’s probably going to find Unohana Retsu.

“How about we go to the Captain-Commander and ask him to make you the Captain of the 2nd Division?” Shin’s eyes lit up as he suggested it to Yoruichi.

“To be honest, I never wanted to be Captain anyway.”

If he could dump the Captaincy onto Yoruichi, that would be fantastic. Then, no matter what happened, they wouldn’t be able to find him, and he could finally have some true peace and quiet.

Unlike now—even though Soi Fon did the work, some things still required Shin. Certain documents needed the Captain’s seal or approval.

“Forget it. I have absolutely no interest in being Captain,” Yoruichi refused, shaking her head. Not everyone wanted the job.

Yoruichi felt she was doing just fine as a Lieutenant. She didn’t care about power or authority.

Besides, even as a Lieutenant, she could give orders within the 2nd Division. She practically exercised the Captain’s power anyway.

“Then how about you, Soi Fon? Want to be Captain?” Shin looked at Soi Fon. Yoruichi was a lost cause—her personality was too similar to his.

They both hated troublesome things. Dumping the Captaincy on Yoruichi was next to impossible.

“No.” Soi Fon shook her head. She didn’t want to be Captain.

“Captain Shin, I won’t complain anymore. I’ll handle everything from now on. You just stay as the Captain,” Soi Fon said, urging him to keep the position.

“Alright. But moving forward, you’re going to have to work hard, Soi Fon. Don’t worry, I’ll give you a reward. A reward guaranteed to satisfy you,” Shin said.

Hearing this, Soi Fon’s eyes lit up slightly. A reward from Captain Shin… she looked forward to it immensely.

“Rest assured, Captain Shin! I will not fail your expectations!” Soi Fon said excitedly.

Yoruichi’s expression turned bizarre. Why is she so excited?

“Sigh. It really is hard to understand what goes on in Soi Fon’s head,” Yoruichi said, shaking her head.

“Alright, I’m leaving it to you, Soi Fon. I’m off.”

Shin used Shunpo and vanished instantly, leaving Yoruichi staring at empty space.

“It doesn’t matter. You can’t run. Watch me find you.” Yoruichi decided to go to the 4th Division to find Shin. He was definitely there.
