Myths Reawakened

Chapter 529 (2): Is It Too Late to Head to Dragonheart Island and Knock on the Ancient God’s Door?

Rumble—

Countless tentacles hung down from the sky and rose from the land, like mouths of the void opening and closing, flooding over the Lord of Greed, leaving him with nowhere to hide. His power, scepter, and Authority had all been rendered useless, devoured by the pale ocean faster than one could roll down a slope.

Wayne had corrupted the Lord of Greed successfully. He sifted through his memories but found nothing about Elohim, instead digging up a subplot.

All this time, Greed had thought that Pride was up to no good. The most powerful evil in Hell had been eyeing him lecherously. Pride thought that he had hidden his attention well, but the Lord of Greed had seen everything. Rather than confronting Pride or asking him the reason, he secretly created a replica and transferred part of his thoughts over.

The replica was his son, Enguema the Lord of Blood.

Splat!

Wayne erased all traces of the Lord of Greed, including his body and thoughts. Just in case, he didn’t even allow the demon lord’s ashes to scatter, but instead devoured the ashe with the pale ocean and distributed it evenly.

“There’s no trace of Elohim. He’s just a simple Deadly Sin.” Wayne shook his head. Greed was nothing to the Book of Greed, so he could not be Elohim, the strongest god.

According to his deduction, Elohim should be the Horseman of Pestilence in slumber, with the same Astral life essence as he did. Greed’s behavior was not aligned with that.

He turned around and said in exasperation, “Why are the four of you standing so far away from me? The Lord of Greed isn’t Elohim, but his son may be. I still have a chance to prove my innocence.” ⅇ

He shot Aztimor a glare. It’s one thing for them to be wary of me, but you too? You’re my vassal.

Master, Aztimor responded silently. I’m going undercover to help you complete your evil plan to destroy the world.

How thoughtful of you!

Wayne covered his face. Elohim and Elian were among the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. One of them had been the top god, and the other the top goddess. They had both raw power and cunning, while Wayne only had four vermin on his side. There was no comparison. He couldn’t carry the game with such teammates.

It felt like he was back in Londan.

“Come on. Let’s go to Enguema’s territory... Oh, right. I destroyed it.”

All of Hell had been reshaped by Wayne, so it couldn’t be easier to locate Enguema. He projected his thoughts and manipulated the pale ocean to drown Enguema, easily taking him out.

The father and son reunited in death.

(一`′一)

Did Elohim just die? Shouldn’t he be the Horseman of Pestilence?

When something went too smoothly, no progress was made. Neither Greed nor Enguema was Elohim’s slumbering form. The three weren’t connected, at least not now...

A bead of cold sweat streaked down Wayne’s forehead. “Mikhael wouldn’t lie to me. Since Elohim ordered him to protect the Lord of Greed, Greed must have existed for an important reason. We’ve come too late. The Horseman of Pestilence has already awakened.”

No one responded. He rolled his eyes and looked at the four vermin, finding them standing even farther from him. With a wave, he dragged space toward him to close their distance, his fierce gaze settling on Ines.

Ines glared back with a hand on Her hip.

Wayne backed down immediately and glared at Siluk instead. “Let’s head to the Divine Realm of Moonlight. I’m going to leave something there.”

Siluk panicked. She knew what Wayne was going to leave. Shaking Her head, She vehemently objected, “Wayne, I think—”

“Pardon my interruption, but what you think doesn’t matter. What I think matters.”

Soon, Wayne strode into the Divine Realm of Moonlight and flooded all nine levels of it with his ocean of white foam, molding Moonlight right in front of Siluk.

Since they were here, an introduction was in order. The Divine Realm was divided into the following levels: Court of Clear Moon, Dream Lake of Moon, Garden of Stars, Forest of Silver Moon, Sanctuary of Moon, Illusory Realm of Moon Shadow, Sky Tower of Moonlight, Ocean of Four Phases, and Moon Palace of White Night.

The upper three levels were the core levels. The seventh level, the Sky Tower of Moonlight, was overseen by two subordinate gods: the Guardian, Sharon the Dancer of Silver Moon, and the Cleanser, Tyrol the Master of Dark Moon.

The eighth level, the Ocean of Four Phases, combined the four lunar phases and the filter system formed with faith, connected to the Astral Plane. Siluk had stored the thoughts corrupted by Wayne there, so the moon phases looked a little mutated.

The ninth level, the Moon Palace of White Night, was where Siluk’s divine throne was. The quiet, classy palace was manned by platinum blonde maids in white clothes, very much in line with Moonlight’s usual style.

“Whoa, you’ve got a big place!”

Wayne looked at his masterpiece, patting Siluk's backside with satisfaction.

But it didn’t land.

She stood aside with reddened eyes. She was adorable when She was angry.

“Don’t be sad. I’m doing this for your own good. Elian comes and goes as She wishes, and the Horseman of Pestilence, who has the same potent corruption as I do, has woken up. If you don’t want to be reshaped by him, you have to be reshaped by me.”

Wayne told Her the cruel reality. After a moment of consideration, he produced an octopus for Siluk. “I can enter the Divine Realm of Moonlight freely, but I can’t guarantee that I won't be prevented from heading here. Take this. When the time comes, you may choose to become my vassal if necessary.”

Siluk took the octopus bitterly, storing it in Her personal storage.

Wayne interrupted Her and warned Her, “Keep it on your person. We don’t know how strong the Four Horsemen are, and you may not be able to react to an ambush in time."

Siluk had to admit that Wayne was right, but the octopus was repulsive no matter where She put it. While She was agonizing over the issue, the octopus climbed up Her arm and crawled toward Her shoulder. The shoulder, however, wasn’t its destination, only a pit stop.

Realizing where the octopus was going, Wayne caught it and turned it into a bracelet with his thoughts, putting it on Siluk’s wrist.

Siluk surrendered. Staring coldly at him, She messaged, “Target me and don’t make a move on Kaleb. She trusts you so much. You don’t want to disappoint Her, do you?”

Is that supposed to be a threat?

Wayne considered it and concluded that it was indeed a threat. Since he had always been a cowardly man, he immediately agreed and responded, “Don’t worry. Compared to the enthusiastic Kaleb, you, with your reluctant attitude, are much more entertaining.”

He burst out laughing.

“Kekekeke—”

Siluk’s face darkened. She closed Her eyes, refusing to look at him.

“Move your Divine Realm next to Death’s and Darkness’s,” Wayne ordered. “From now on, the four of you will stay together so that you can help each other, and no matter which of you is attacked, I can be there at once.”

Siluk didn’t object. While they might be surrounded and taken care of in one fell swoop, if the Four Horsemen were strong enough to take them out at once, splitting up wouldn’t help.

“What about you?” She asked. “What are you doing with the Divine Realm of Nature? Aren’t you going to stay with us?”

“Why? Do you want to be my neighbor?”

Siluk silently shot him an eye roll, letting him come to his own conclusion.

“That won’t do. Ines keeps such a close eye on me that it’ll be difficult for me to sneak out to have a tryst with you. You should stop making such suggestions.” Wayne gestured at Her. “I haven’t conquered the Divine Realm of Nature completely. Elian still holds a large part of the Authority, so She can enter the Divine Realm at any time. It’ll be too dangerous for me to stay with you.”

Siluk nodded and snorted. “I didn’t expect to stand with Darkness again, and I definitely didn’t expect to face Elohim with Darkness again like we did last time.”

Wayne didn’t say anything. He vanished and made it to the Divine Realm of Sun next door. He corrupted the realm, produced an octopus, and then moved the Divine Realm.

Kaleb was much more willing than Siluk. Believing that fire elements didn’t lie to fire elements, She didn’t even raise Her guard. While watching the corruption take over Her Divine Realm, She asked if Wayne was Elohim.

When he said no, She believed him.

There were so many coincidences that it couldn’t just be coincidences, but Kaleb followed Her instinct, which again told Her that Wayne was trustworthy.

The Divine Realm of Darkness was Wayne’s last stop. Ines watched coldly while he corrupted Her Divine Realm, then coldly tucked the octopus into Her bosom, saying nothing from start to finish.

The wicked woman was more intelligent than Siluk and Aztimor. While She had suspected Wayne to be Elohim at first, She quickly disproved the possibility. She scowled because Wayne was hiding the reason for the coincidence from Her.

We’ve gotten married, yet you’re still keeping secrets from me? If you like being in your head so much, stay alone and never climb into my bed!

Wayne could see Her grievances, but he didn’t explain. It had nothing to do with whether they had slept together. Explaining it would be too troublesome.

The more he thought about it, the more he suspected Elohim’s true origin.

One thing was for certain: Elohim had come from outside the box. Then, referencing the European continent, He built the Chosen Land. The rest, Wayne wasn’t so sure. He had come from Earth, but Elohim might not.

The Horseman of War among the Four Horsemen seemed right out of a sci-fi movie, with the markings of an alien civilization. If that was the case, Elohim should be an alien passing by Earth.

That made Wayne want to get out of the box even more.

“Is it too late to visit Dragonheart Island and knock on the ancient god’s door?” Wayne mumbled while walking into the Divine Realm of Nature. On the sixteenth level, the Source of Life, he reshaped the divine throne and swept the entire Divine Realm with his thoughts. He didn’t spot Elian intruding. On a whim, he decided to do something fun to relax his nerves.

“Hey, you. Yes, I’m talking to you.” Wayne summoned Mirelle, the Lark of Wisdom, with his thoughts. “Pass down this oracle from me, the God of Nature. Tell High Prophet Tubert of the Church of Nature that I want to meet the leadership. Pope Senna, especially, must be in attendance.”

After Mirelle left, he stroked his chin and murmured, “I’m Master’s son, while her master, Senna, is my lover. Then I become both their faith. So our relationships... Well, that’s way too complicated. It’s like Greek mythology.”

“Oh, Greek mythology...”

He rubbed his chin and fell into deep thought, his brows furrowed.
