Chapter 2640: Mysterious Opponent

Chapter 2640: Mysterious Opponent

Yun Lintian knew that there was no point in talking with them further. He exerted his strength and gradually eliminated the opponents.

One by one, the creatures of chaos fell, their bodies dissolving into shadows that dissipated into the chaotic expanse. Yun Lintian and his companions were relentless, their attacks unwavering, their determination unbreakable.

They carved a path through the horde of creatures, their weapons flashing, their movements a blur of deadly grace. The creatures of chaos fell before them, their bodies dissolving into motes of chaotic energy, their screams of rage and frustration echoing through the ruined city.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, they reached the first section of the Ancient Battlefield, where countless captives were being forced to mine Spirit Beads.

The captives, their bodies emaciated and their spirits broken, looked up in awe and disbelief as Yun Lintian and his companions descended upon the scene… How could there be people brave enough to come here?

“Do not worry.” Yun Lintian’s voice boomed through the expanse, his words carrying a wave of hope and reassurance. “We are here to save you!”

The captives’ eyes widened with disbelief, and then they erupted in cheers and shouts of joy. Yun Lintian and his companions quickly dispatched the remaining creatures of chaos, freeing the captives and securing the area.

Yun Lintian approached one of the captives, a young woman with tired eyes and a trembling frame.

“Are you alright?” he asked, his voice gentle and concerned.

The young woman nodded, her eyes filled with gratitude. “Thank you, Young Master. You have saved us.”

Yun Lintian smiled. “It was my pleasure. But I need your help. Can you tell me what is going on here? Why are the creatures of chaos forcing you to mine these Spirit Beads?”

The young woman’s eyes widened in surprise. “You don’t know?”

Yun Lintian shook his head. “I do not.”

The young woman explained that the creatures of chaos had been forcing them to mine Spirit Beads for weeks. They were not allowed to rest, and they were given little food or water. Many had already died from exhaustion or starvation.

“But why?” Yun Lintian asked. “What do they need these Spirit Beads for?”

The young woman shook her head. “I don’t know. But I overheard them saying that they were going to use the beads to open a portal to another realm.”

Yun Lintian’s eyes narrowed. A portal to another realm? What could the creatures of chaos be planning? He turned to his companions.

“It seems we have stumbled upon something bigger than we thought,” he said. “We need to find out what the creatures of chaos are planning and stop them.”

Yun Lintian turned back to the young woman. “Do you know anything else?” he asked. “Anything that might help us?”

The young woman hesitated for a moment, then said, “I heard them talking about someone called the ‘Lord of Chaos.’ They said that he was the one who ordered them to mine the Spirit Beads.”

Yun Lintian’s brow raised slightly. This information didn’t have much value, as he was already aware of this. He thanked the woman and sent her and the other captives to the Nine Firmament City through the Gate of Beyond Heaven.

“Let’s go,” Yun Lintian said to his companions and resumed their journey.

Yun Lintian and his companions continued their exploration of the Ancient Battlefield, searching for clues.

They encountered many more creatures of chaos along the way, but they were no match for Yun Lintian and his companions’ combined might.

As they ventured deeper into the Ancient Battlefield, they came across a group of captives guarded by a particularly powerful Shadow Demon.

Yun Lintian and his companions quickly dispatched the Shadow Demon and freed the captives.

Yun Lintian approached one of the captives, a middle-aged man with a weary expression. “Do you know anything, Uncle?” he asked.

“I overheard the creatures of chaos talking about him,” the middle-aged man responded. “They said that he a powerful cultivator who has pledged his allegiance to the Lord of Chaos.” Yun Lintian frowned slightly.

The middle-aged man continued, “They also said that he comes here every week to collect the Spirit Beads.”

Yun Lintian’s mind raced. A human who comes here every week to collect the Spirit Beads? Could it be a Chaos Knight?

“Thank you,” Yun Lintian said and sent the captives to the Nine Firmament City.

“Is it the Chaos Knight?” Yun Ruanyu asked.

“No doubt,” Yun Lintian replied with a frown. “However, they have never shown up anywhere in the Primal Chaos before. It seems there’s something extremely important for them here.”

The fact that the Chaos Knights didn’t use this chance to attack the Primal Chaos was extremely bizarre. With their strength, Yun Lintian was certain that none of the Primal Chaos’ powerhouses could be their opponents… This could only mean that something was holding them back, something they were looking for in this place.

“You are Yun Lintian?”

At this moment, a cold voice resounded, and a figure emerged on the horizon. This person was a man wearing a black robe. His face was incomparably cold as he stared at Yun Lintian. The first impression this person gave Yun Lintian was of a ruthless character. He must be someone who had held a top position for a very long time. However, Yun Lintian didn’t get the feeling of a Chaos Knight from him.

“I’ve heard your name mentioned often by those Chaos Knights. I want to see how powerful you are,” the man said.

“Who are you?” Yun Lintian asked calmly while secretly communicating with his companions, telling them to back off, as this person was definitely at the peak of the True God

Realm or even stronger.

“You are not qualified to know my name,” the man said coldly.

The man’s eyes flickered with a cold light, and he raised his hand. “But you can call me… your

death.”

The space around Yun Lintian suddenly compressed, as if an invisible force was squeezing him from all sides.

Yun Lintian’s eyes narrowed slightly. The man’s mastery over the Law of Space was actually on par with his own. Who was this person?

Yun Lintian’s body crackled with golden light as he activated his divine energy, resisting the spatial compression. Soon, he managed to push back against it.

The man’s eyes narrowed as he sensed Yun Lintian’s resistance.

“It seems you are as strong as they say,” the man said calmly. “But that’s it. You are nothing

in front of me.”
