Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory
Chapter 1443: The Silence Came Too Easily
Kaelira's energy was too violent to remain stable. Forces rushing in from different directions kept colliding, and sometimes no one needed to control them at all. Two runaway currents would crash together beside Lunethar and blow apart the eyes and flesh it had just regenerated.
Lunethar was destroyed and restored over and over again.
Even if its regeneration kept it alive, its energy was almost depleted. Still, it refused to surrender. If Ethan and the others truly intended to take it down with them, then it would show them the true power of a Pale Moon God.
Sockets opened all over its body.
Swarming eyes arranged themselves around it in several interlocking layers. Blue energy flowed between them, forming a sealed defensive formation.
The explosions continued.
"It really hurts! Aaaah!"
Lunethar's exaggerated scream carried through the dome.
Everyone outside fell silent for a moment.
Its voice was far too strong, and the final note even rose into a dramatic flourish. It didn't sound like it was in much pain at all.
Expressionless, Kaelira increased her energy output. Queen Elowen forced more freezing energy into the dome, while the others began channeling their power into its outer layer as well.
They had decided to make Lunethar's performance a little more convincing.
The long gray-white arrow struck the eye shield.
Light Force at its tip opened a tiny hole in the outermost layer. Primordial Death Energy then invaded through the breach. Gray-white veins spread across the first eye before following the energy connections into the second, then the third.
The infected eyes didn't explode. They decayed from within.
Holes began appearing throughout the shield.
At the center of the formation, Lunethar sensed that something was wrong. The explosions outside hadn't changed, yet the pressure on its defenses was rising rapidly. The previously sealed eye shield was even starting to let air through.
It turned its remaining eyes and finally spotted the spreading gray-white veins.
"Not that power again?"
Primordial Death Energy had already penetrated several layers of defense. The presence of death closed in from every direction.
All of Lunethar's eyes widened.
"How can she have this much Primordial Death Energy?"
Before it had even finished speaking, the gray-white energy inside the dome grew stronger.
Primordial Death Energy began devouring the power around it. Whether it was Kaelira's violent energy or the blue light flowing through the eye shield, anything that touched the gray-white veins was drawn in and became fuel for death's continued expansion.
Large sections of the eye formation went dark.
Death pressed toward the center from all sides, collapsing the shield one layer at a time. Lunethar's available space continued to shrink, and even its outstretched hands were forced back against its chest.
"Death!"
Seraphine tightened her grip on the bow.
In the distance, the Primordial Death Energy contracted all at once.
The purple-red dome began to shrink.
It went from covering the entire battlefield to spanning only a few dozen feet, then compressed further until it barely contained Lunethar's head. The explosions within came faster and faster. Lunethar could no longer speak. It could only rely on its final means of survival, repeatedly regenerating amid the destruction.
Everyone stared at the shrinking dome.
It went from the size of a house to the size of a rock, then from a rock to something small enough to fit in a palm. Purple-red and gray-white squeezed against each other until only a black dot remained suspended in the air.
The dot contracted slightly.
Then it vanished.
There was no explosion. No sound emerged from it.
The battlefield fell silent.
Elira planted her hands on her hips and looked proudly around at the others.
"That's it? It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought!"
There was no trace of Lunethar's presence anywhere. The others gradually lowered their guard. Even Seraphine, who had kept her eyes fixed on the spot where the black dot vanished, believed Lunethar had been completely destroyed.
But in another, stranger space, Lunethar still floated intact.
Seraphine was nowhere to be seen, nor was Kaelira's energy dome. Countless numbers hung in the darkness, characters of varying sizes rotating slowly. Strands of DNA extended from the distance, only to disappear in another direction.
Lunethar's eight eyes turned in confusion.
"What is this place?"
It looked down to examine its body, then studied the surrounding numbers and genetic structures.
"Did something go wrong with my evolutionary path?"
This was the domain of black particle transformation.
The fact that Lunethar had managed to enter this place during the energy compression proved it was genuinely capable.
Unfortunately, it had chosen the wrong place.
This domain belonged to Ethan.
Several small eyes lay scattered throughout the space. Lunethar remained where it was as new eyes grew across its body and turned in different directions, searching for an exit.
It had already tried to force its way out.
Instead of opening the space, the attempt had only injured it. Several newly regenerated eyes had cracked again, and blue energy slowly leaked from their wounds.
"What a strange place."
Lunethar looked around but saw no one.
"Is nobody here?"
High above in the darkness, Ethan watched it in silence.
Nothing within this domain escaped his senses. Whenever Lunethar opened another eye or released even a wisp of energy, the surrounding black particles transmitted the change to him.
"The fact that you made it here proves you have real talent."
Ethan's voice didn't carry down to it. He opened his hand, compressing a sphere of white energy in his palm until it became a tiny dot.
"Unfortunately, you took that talent to an extreme."
He reached out and plucked one of the isolated eyes from nearby.
The eye was still struggling, its pupil darting wildly in every direction. Ethan pinched it between two fingers and pressed the white dot deep into the pupil. Its entry caused no disturbance, and the eye soon grew quiet.
Ethan released it.
"Go on. Back to your master."
At the same time, Lunethar began recalling its scattered eyes.
Small eyes flew in from every direction. They circled it before slipping into sockets throughout its body. A distant gate was slowly closing when the final eye came wobbling back.
It was the same one Ethan had implanted with the white dot.
It flew slowly and veered off course several times. Only when the gate was about to close completely did it finally manage to enter Lunethar's body.
Lunethar gave it a deliberate glance.
"Let me see."
It wasn't immediately suspicious. With so many eyes, occasional collisions were inevitable, and those impacts could cause minor losses of energy. Still, this was the first time one of its eyes had ever moved that slowly.
Before it could finish its examination, a bolt of white lightning fell from above.
The lightning struck the top of Lunethar's head. White electrical arcs spread down across its entire skull, forcing several eyes shut at once and disrupting the energy it had just gathered.
Lunethar looked up.
Storm clouds had formed within the dark space. One heavy layer after another pressed down as white lightning raced through them.
"This place even has thunderstorms?"
A second bolt fell and struck its body again.
Then a fine rain began falling from the clouds. Lunethar held out a hand and caught a few drops. At first, it thought nothing of them, but the moment the rain touched its skin, hair-thin arcs of white electricity burrowed into its body.
Every raindrop contained a weak spark of white lightning.
A single drop could barely hurt it.
But the rain had already filled the entire space around Lunethar.
A blue shield rose and blocked the downpour. Although some rain had already touched it, Lunethar paid no attention to the damage. It still had a massive amount of newly received information to process and had no time to deal with an attack this weak.
