Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God
Chapter 382 - 37: Omni Combat Art
Chapter 382: Chapter 37: Omni Combat Art
Ash sat cross-legged in the center of Training Room Seven at first light on Day 12 and opened the Martial Saint’s inheritance in full.
The volume of information that rose to meet him was far greater than he had expected.
Techniques upon techniques. Fist arts, palm arts, leg arts, elbow and knee arts. Sword forms, saber forms, spear forms, axe forms, staff forms. Movement techniques that specialized in speed, in evasion, in short-range bursting, in long-range travel. Defensive arts that turned the body into a fortress or into a redirecting wheel. Perception techniques that sharpened the eyes, the ears, the skin, the spiritual sense. Mental arts designed to disrupt an opponent’s focus or protect one’s own. There were even fragmentary methods for fighting under water, in zero gravity, and in high-radiation environments.
Hundreds of complete techniques. Thousands of supporting drills and variations.
For a moment the sheer quantity threatened to stall him. His breath caught. The weight of so much knowledge pressed against the edges of his mind like a tide that wanted to drag him under.
Then his mind did what it had been rebuilt to do.
Parallel thinking split his consciousness into multiple clean streams. One stream began sorting the techniques by weapon and limb. Another sorted them by rank and difficulty. A third examined the underlying principles that appeared across different arts. A fourth compared force-generation methods. Perfect memory held every page and diagram steady so nothing was lost. Computation speed turned the flood of data into structured categories almost as fast as it arrived.
Inside his mindscape a library began to form.
Shelves arranged themselves by specialty. Rank seals appeared on the spines. Cross-references linked techniques that shared similar kinetic principles or energy pathways. Fist arts that relied on sequential hip rotation were grouped near certain saber forms that used the same rotational chain. Movement techniques built on explosive calf contraction were linked to low-kick variations that shared the same loading pattern. Defensive arts that emphasized redirection of force were placed beside palm methods designed to guide rather than meet an attack head-on. The work was automatic and relentless. While one part of his awareness directed the sorting, another part of his consciousness moved deeper into the Saint’s memories, not merely reading the techniques but absorbing the context in which they had been learned, used, and sometimes discarded.
That second stream of consciousness kept going through the memories without pause.
It watched the Martial Saint as a younger man practicing a Rank 5 spear form under a sky torn by distant war. It watched him discard an elegant but overly complex elbow art after a single campaign because the motions required more recovery time than the battlefield allowed. It watched him refine a Rank 6 movement technique until the footwork became almost invisible, then set it aside when a higher law of space rendered pure physical speed secondary. Every technique carried not only its mechanical instructions but the weight of the decisions that had shaped it.
It was this deeper stream that found the anomaly.
Buried among the higher-ranked methods, set apart from the others by a different kind of seal, was a single technique whose name was simple and absolute:
Omni Combat Art.
Ash felt drawn to it the way a drowning man feels drawn to air.
He focused on it.
The moment he did, understanding poured in from the Saint’s memories, and something inside his chest tightened with sudden, fierce excitement.
Omni Combat Art was not a fist technique. It was not a sword technique. It was not a movement technique or a defensive technique.
It was all of them.
The art was a living framework that already contained thousands of fused martial arts of every kind and specialty, thousands of fused battle styles, hundreds of individual and combined intents, and tens of Cosmic laws. Fist methods, leg methods, weapon forms, defensive structures, speed techniques, perception methods, mental attack and defense, footwork, clinch work, ground work, elemental intents, spatial principles—everything had already been broken down, refined, and woven into a single unified combat system. Once a cultivator comprehended any portion of it, those separate skills ceased to exist as isolated tools. They became expressions of one ever-evolving whole.
They were meant for combat and for combat alone.
The more the user comprehended the Omni Combat Art, the greater the percentage of its power he could call forth. At one percent the art was already formidable. At higher percentages it scaled without limit within its Rank 4 ceiling, capable of expressing power comparable to ordinary Rank 7 techniques when fully realized. In theory, a cultivator who fully committed to it would never need to practice a second martial technique. Every new insight, every new Intent, every fragment of Law would simply deepen the same living system.
Ash sat in silence as the knowledge settled, and a slow, disbelieving smile pulled at the corner of his mouth.
One technique that already held thousands.
The advantage was obvious and almost absurd.
"This..." he whispered into the empty room, voice rough with something close to awe. "This is it."
He immediately wanted to know why the Martial Saint—who had clearly possessed the art—had barely touched it.
The parallel stream of consciousness that was still moving through the deeper memories supplied the answer without delay.
The Saint had found the Omni Combat Art too late in his long career. He had recognized its potential at once. And he had set it aside.
The reasons were practical.
First, the comprehension requirement was extreme. To even begin walking the path of the Omni Combat Art demanded a level of insight that most would call heaven-defying. The Saint possessed such comprehension, yet even for him the initial cost in time and mental effort had been steep. The framework refused to open unless the user’s understanding of force, intent, and energy circulation reached a threshold that ordinary talent simply never approached.
Second, the art required an almost unnatural degree of control over the body’s cells, meridians, and internal energy pathways. This had not been a problem for the Saint, but it was an absolute gate for others. Without that control the art simply refused to function. Any attempt to force it produced only chaotic feedback and wasted effort.
Third—and this had been the decisive factor—the version the Saint obtained was only Rank 4.
A well-developed Rank 4 Omni Combat Art could display power comparable to ordinary Rank 7 techniques. That was extraordinary on paper. But by the time the Saint found it, he was already practicing Rank 9 methods. Raising his comprehension of the Omni Combat Art high enough to surpass or even match what he already used would have required years of focused insight—years he was not willing to spend while wars, rivals, and the pursuit of still-higher laws pressed on him from every side. He had filed the art away as interesting but inefficient for his stage, and had never returned to it in any serious way.
But still he had wished he had found this technique earlier in his life.
Ash opened his eyes and stared at the far wall of the training room. A quiet laugh escaped him—low, almost disbelieving.
The Saint’s reasons were clear and rational.
But luckily they did not apply to him.
He was not a Martial Saint standing at the edge of Rank 9.
He was a Body Refining cultivator who had just completed Layer 29. A Rank 4 technique that could reach Rank 7 performance would carry him all the way to the Martial Sovereign realm before it began to feel limiting. That was not a short road. That was most of the journey he could currently see.
Comprehension was also not the barrier for him that it had been even for the Saint.
His Boundless Origin Martial Soul worked on his soul every moment he breathed, slowly and steadily refining it, increasing its strength and, with it, his capacity to understand and comprehend.
Even more, he still carried some of the Martial Saint’s own comprehension talent that he had copied on the first night. That fragment had not yet been fully integrated with his native insight; when it finished settling, his effective comprehension would rise again.
And if that still proved insufficient, his martial soul gave him a third path: another space-time jump. He could search for a parallel self whose comprehension talent was even more extreme and take what he needed. The option existed. He did not have to use it yet, but it existed.
Body control—the second great requirement—was already solved. Twenty-nine layers of deliberate refinement and a full day of brutal control training had given him command over his cells and fibers that few at his official realm could imagine. The previous day’s work with precise jabs, measured elbows, and simulation battles that cracked the sound barrier had proven the point beyond any remaining doubt.
Everything that had made the Omni Combat Art impractical for the Saint made it nearly perfect for Ash at this exact stage of his path.
He did not hesitate.
All the other techniques that had been floating in his mental library were set aside. He did not delete them—perfect memory kept every page—but he stopped giving them attention. The shelves that had been organizing fist arts and sword arts and movement arts grew still. Rank seals dimmed. Cross-references faded into the background. The only text that remained under active light was the Omni Combat Art.
He brought it to the center of his mindscape and began to comprehend it.
The moment the Omni Combat Art settled into the focal point of his awareness, the mindscape itself changed.
What had been an orderly library of shelves and ranked seals dissolved into open space. In its place rose a vast, formless dark that was not empty. Threads of pale gold light began to weave through the void, thin as spider silk at first, then thickening into luminous rivers that moved with deliberate intelligence. Each river carried not fragments waiting to be fused, but complete, already-integrated legacies—thousands of martial arts, battle styles, intents, and Cosmic laws already refined into seamless unity. They curved, branched, and recombined according to rules that revealed themselves only as Ash’s comprehension touched them.
A low, resonant hum filled the mental space, not sound but pressure against the soul. The hum carried no melody, only structure. With every pulse it pressed the golden threads into clearer patterns. Geometric lattices formed and dissolved. Circles of will nested inside larger circles of energy pathway. Lines of pure intent—space, fire, sword, and dozens more—stretched across the dark and anchored themselves to points that had not existed a moment before. The entire structure was alive. It breathed. It adjusted. It watched him watching it.
Ash’s heart beat once, hard.
This was nothing like any technique he had ever touched.
Parallel streams of consciousness moved through the phenomenon without resistance. One stream traced the golden rivers, reading the already-fused principles of force, intent, and adaptive circulation. Another stream felt the way will was impressed upon every possible motion. A third stream measured the density of knowledge already contained within the art—thousands of complete systems waiting only for comprehension to unlock them. The deeper stream continued to draw from the Saint’s memories, feeding every relevant fragment into the growing lattice so that understanding accelerated even as it deepened.
There was no strain of physical practice. No repetition of form. The Omni Combat Art did not ask for the body yet.
Ash soon discovered that Omni Combat Art did not require any physical training or practice.
There were no stances to hold. No basic punches to repeat ten thousand times. No footwork patterns drawn on the floor. The Omni Combat Art did not begin with the body. It began with the mind, the will, and the way cosmic energy was guided through the flesh.
Because the art already held thousands of fused martial arts, battle styles, intents, and Cosmic laws, all Ash needed to do was sit and comprehend. The percentage of the art he understood would determine the percentage of its battle power he could call forth. Nothing more was required.
He closed his physical eyes and sank fully into the work.
And soon time began to lose its meaning.
The first day was struggle.
Ash sat unmoving in the center of the room while the golden rivers in his mindscape roared around him like a storm he could not yet enter. Every time he reached for understanding the lattices slipped away. Principles that should have been clear remained just beyond his grasp, as if the art itself were testing the quality of his will. Frustration built in slow, heavy waves. Sweat beaded on his forehead though his body remained still. His jaw tightened.
"Again," he muttered under his breath, voice low and stubborn. "I’m not leaving until you open up your secrets to me."
He kept reading. Kept studying. Kept pressing his awareness into the living structure even when it refused to yield. Parallel streams worked without rest—mapping, comparing, failing, adjusting, trying once more. The Boundless Origin Martial Soul pulsed quietly in the background, refining his soul with every failed attempt, slowly increasing the very capacity the art demanded.
By the end of the first day he had gained almost nothing measurable. His mindscape where the Omni Combart Art resided remained beautiful and closed.
But outside, only the faintest distortion of space had begun to form around his seated form—air bending subtly, as if reality itself were leaning closer to listen. Soft threads of multicolored light, dao rhymes, rose from his skin and drifted upward before dissolving. The training room’s sensors registered anomalous spatial fluctuations, yet the barrier contained everything.
Ash did not stop. He had gained an insight. And he immediately worked on it.
The second day the storm began to part.
Something inside the golden rivers finally recognized the quality of his persistence. A single lattice locked into place with a sensation like a key turning in a lock that had waited centuries. Understanding flooded in—not the full art, but a clear path through its outer layers. Ash’s breath hitched. Joy, sharp and bright, cut through the earlier frustration.
"There," he whispered. "There you are."
The phenomena outside intensified. The floor beneath him developed a shallow, perfectly circular depression that the reverse-repair function continually tried and failed to erase while his presence remained. Space warped in slow, breathing pulses. Distant walls shimmered. The air filled with a low, harmonic pressure that was not sound yet made the entire room feel like the inside of a vast, living instrument. Cosmic resonance. The universe answering a will that was beginning to understand one of its deeper languages.
Inside the mindscape the intents began to stir.
Space intent rose first—cool, precise, infinite. It threaded through Ash’s soul like silver wire, expanding the edges of his mental space until the mindscape itself felt larger. Fire intent followed, warm and hungry, coiling around the silver threads until the two danced together without conflict. Sword intent came last, sharp and clean, cutting away residual inefficiencies in the way his will moved. Each integration sent waves of marvelous sensation through him: his perception sharpened until he could feel the grain of space around his body; heat and cold became choices rather than conditions; every edge in the room, every line of force, sang with potential.
His soul and mindscape evolved under the pressure. The Boundless Origin Martial Soul drank the new insights greedily, refining them, amplifying them, weaving them deeper into his foundation. The three intents climbed together—twenty percent, thirty, forty—while Ash’s awareness expanded to hold them without strain.
By the third day the manifestations reached their peak.
Threads of pure space and pure fire coiled around Ash’s body in visible spirals. His presence alone made the local fabric of reality thin and responsive. Dao rhymes of increasing complexity painted themselves across the air in fleeting, luminous script before fading. The room’s barrier strained quietly, absorbing forces that would have been catastrophic if released outside.
Throughout the three days the parallel streams of his mind never stopped. They mapped. They compared. They integrated. They pulled free the space intent and fire intent already woven into the Omni Combat Art and, at the same time, reached into the residual memories of the Martial Saint version of himself to absorb and refine the fire intent and sword intent he had previously obtained. Three intents—space, fire, and sword—rose together under the accelerating pressure of comprehension until each stood at sixty percent mastery. Insights that normally required a Martial Master’s foundation settled into a Body Refining soul with unnatural ease, guided by the Boundless Origin Martial Soul and the fragment of Saint-level talent already within him.
At the end of the third day Ash opened his eyes.
Bright light gushed out of them in twin beams that carved brief afterimages across the air. His eyes themselves had undergone a profound transformation—deeper, clearer, carrying a quiet depth that had not been there before. His whole being seemed to have shifted on some fundamental level, as though the three days of immersion had rewritten subtle layers of his existence.
He stood, and a wide, almost boyish grin broke across his face.
"I only comprehended 7% of the Omni Combart Art," he said aloud, voice rough from three days of silence. "Let’s see what you can do."
From the seven percent of the Omni Combat Art he had comprehended, he began to run the art through his mind, will, and body.
His whole presence changed at once.
His black hair turned silky white, each strand gleaming with an inner luster. An aura of almost godly pressure unfolded around him—calm, absolute, and so dense that the air itself seemed to kneel.
The power flooding his senses was immense beyond easy description. Space felt soft under his attention. Fire waited like a loyal beast for the slightest command. Joy and something close to reverence warred in his chest.
In this state Ash felt with complete certainty that even a Peak Martial Master would not be able to contend with him in any way.
He did not need to test abilities in the ordinary sense. Under the Omni Combat Art, any move he made was already his strongest expression of the portion he had comprehended. Application had been theorized, refined, and practiced to perfection inside the mindscape; execution required only a thought.
With a single thought he raised one hand.
Space folded.
A spatial cage formed around an empty point three meters in front of him—six planes of absolute boundary that locked into place with a sound like reality sealing shut. Inside the cage, distance itself became optional. Ash felt the technique settle into the world as naturally as breathing. He dismissed it with another thought and the planes dissolved into harmless ripples. A soft laugh of pure delight escaped him.
He lifted his other hand.
A sphere of fire bloomed above his palm, then compressed under the combined pressure of fire intent and the Omni Combat Art’s circulating will. The sphere shrank, brightened, and became a miniature sun no larger than a fist, its surface writhing with solar storms that never escaped the boundary he imposed. The heat should have melted the floor. Under his control it touched nothing until he released it; the sun winked out, leaving only a brief afterglow. Ash stared at his empty palm, eyes bright.
"Beautiful," he murmured.
He stepped forward.
Sword intent gathered along the edge of his hand as if a blade of pure cutting principle had always been there. He drew a single horizontal line through the air. The line remained—a thin, glowing scar in space that lingered for three full seconds before fading. A second gesture produced a rain of sword-light, each strand a perfect expression of the sixty-percent sword intent refined through the art, each one capable of carving through Martial Master defenses before dissolving harmlessly at the limit he set.
He experimented further, the grin never leaving his face.
A spatial step that erased the distance between two points without moving his feet. A defensive veil woven from layered space and fire that would have turned aside a Peak Martial Master’s full-power strike. A single finger thrust that carried the sequential force of a thousand fused fist arts compressed into one point. A sweeping palm that redirected imaginary attacks along paths dictated by Cosmic law rather than physical leverage. Each technique appeared fully formed the instant he willed it. Each one carried the weight of everything the seven percent of the Omni Combat Art already contained. Each one left him more certain that he had found the true path forward.
That was the benefit of the Omni Combat Art.
No need for multiple martial techniques.
No need for separate practice of forms.
Only comprehension, and the will to express what had been understood.
Yet the art possessed one clear downside for him at his current stage.
Because he was still only in the Body Refining realm, the state he now occupied—the Omni Battle Form—consumed energy and mental force at a drastic rate. The higher the percentage of the art he activated, the greater the drain. At only seven percent mastery there were still plenty of flaws in his usage and application; each flaw wasted additional cosmic energy and mental force that a higher comprehension of the battle art would have conserved.
Ash felt the cost accumulating with every demonstrated technique. The godlike clarity began to fray at the edges. Weakness whispered at the base of his skull.
He quickly deactivated the art.
His hair turned black again. The godly aura collapsed inward and vanished. The overpowering presence that had warped space and resonated with the universe returned to the quiet intensity of a Layer 29 Body Refining cultivator.
The change was brutal.
Ash felt as though he had been reduced from a god to a mortal in a single breath. Weakness flooded his limbs. Exhaustion pressed behind his eyes. He collapsed back onto the floor, the cool stone a sudden relief against his back, and let out a long, shaky breath that was half laugh and half groan.
"That form," he said to the ceiling, voice soft with lingering wonder, "is truly marvelous."
His cells were already automatically restoring the spent energy. His mental force was quietly rebuilding itself under the steady influence of the Boundless Origin Martial Soul. The recovery would not take long, but the contrast remained absolute.
After several minutes the worst of the drain had faded.
Ash sat up slowly and called the Status Panel into view, and examined the changes the three days had left behind.

Ash read the panel twice.
Every major physical and mental statistic had jumped. Strength, speed, endurance, mental strength, even the range of his spiritual sense—all of them had evolved. The foundation itself had advanced from Layer 29 to Layer 31 without him running a single refinement cycle.
He let out a quiet breath.
"It looks like my intents didn’t only benefit my soul," he said softly to the empty room. "They also refined my body. I even broke through to the thirty-first layer from the twenty-ninth. So crazy."
New resistances had appeared as well—fire resistance, spatial resistance, and a general cutting resistance born from the sword intent. The three intents had not simply sat in his soul. While he comprehended them through the Omni Combat Art, they had tempered his flesh, bones, and meridians on a fundamental level.
He gave a small, satisfied nod.
"I guess I just found another way to refine my body. Comprehend more intents."
Seventeen days remained until the Assessment.
Seven percent of the Omni Combat Art had already granted him power that blurred the lines between realms and pushed his foundation two full layers higher. Higher percentages waited. All he needed to do now was rest, return to full strength, and continue comprehending the art toward greater degrees of mastery.
The many techniques the Saint had collected remained stored in the library of his mind, untouched and unnecessary.
They would never need to be practiced one by one.
They had already been consumed by the art he now carried.
Ash closed his eyes and allowed the quiet work of recovery to proceed, a small, fierce smile still lingering on his lips.
Day 14 was ending.
The path forward had become singular, luminous, and far more dangerous than anything he had planned when the inheritance first opened.
