Myriad Dragon Divine Sovereign
Chapter 592 - 601: The Appearance of an Immortal Artifact?
Wen Qingye sat in a corner, gazing at the yellow sands in the distance. He knew he must have missed his appointment with the old ancestor of the Desert North Ancient Land. It was likely too late for that now. ’Might as well start looking for the Nascent Vein Flower I need.’
"Hey, waiter! Get over here! This lord has some questions for you."
Suddenly, a bellow erupted from a table not far from Wen Qingye. A large, bald man was seated there with a swagger, a massive blade resting beside him. Its sharp, peerless aura was terrifying to behold.
Wen Qingye looked closer. ’Isn’t that Tu Bai?’
Back at the Great Wilderness Ancient Stele, this man and his giant blade had single-handedly defeated two of Taiyi Pavilion’s brilliant young experts. Only Hankong had managed to narrowly defeat him, and even then, Hankong had been seriously injured in the process.
He was one of the few young experts who had made a name for themselves at the Great Wilderness Ancient Stele, and a rogue one at that, belonging to no Sect.
The waiter knew this man was not to be trifled with and hurried over, saying obsequiously, "Sir, what can I do for you? Just say the word, just say the word."
Tu Bai slammed a hand on the table boisterously. "A whole mess of experts have shown up at Sanjing Pass recently, haven’t they? Tell me about them. What kind of masters are we talking about?"
The waiter breathed a sigh of relief when he heard Tu Bai’s question. At that moment, many others in the vicinity also became very interested, pricking up their ears to listen intently.
The waiter slowly explained, "Indeed, many mysterious experts have appeared recently. Elder Wang Zhen from Nebula Hall, Vice Sect Leader Zhang Chun from the Asura Sect, and even Sword Fairy Yue Mingzhu from the Sword Sect have all arrived. Many other experts from various Sects have come as well. Most of them are long-famous masters who came here because their cultivation has been stagnant for years. Of course, there are others that I don’t know about..."
After speaking, the waiter raised his head and stole a glance at Tu Bai.
"So many experts! I’ve heard that Zhangg Yihai of the Dustless Sect and Flower Dao of the Flowing Moon Sect are here too."
"Yeah, and that ruthless Yangg Zhongqiang from Yihai Country, and Ye Ming from the Sun and Moon Sect. They’re all here."
"Strange. Why have so many experts gathered for this Evil Land eruption? It shouldn’t be like this."
"I think the Immortal Coffin Sect revealed some huge secret."
...
Hearing the waiter’s words, the surrounding crowd couldn’t help but break into a flurry of discussion.
Tu Bai nodded, then took out a Top-Grade Primordial Stone and handed it to the waiter. "You can go. This lord understands now. This is your payment."
The waiter’s heart leaped with joy when he saw the Top-Grade Primordial Stone. It felt heavy in his hand. He quickly said, "Thank you, sir! Thank you, sir!"
After watching the waiter leave, Tu Bai’s gaze suddenly shifted to the boundless yellow sand outside. He drained his cup of wine in one gulp, shouldered his greatblade, and strode forward like a meteor.
Many people in the crowd exchanged glances before rushing off toward Sanjing Pass as well.
Wen Qingye’s eyebrow twitched slightly as he muttered to himself, "Could the Immortal Coffin Sect be hiding some other secret? That Immortal Coffin... if I get the chance, I have to go see what it really is."
Qingg Ruo’ai suddenly popped out and said with a grin, "The Immortal Coffin Sect? That Immortal Coffin? This granny knows what it is."
"Oh?" Wen Qingye said, slightly surprised. "And what might that be?"
Qingg Ruo’ai rolled her eyes. "You think it’s that easy to find out? You like to keep people in suspense, but this granny isn’t like you. How about this: beg me, and if I’m happy, I’ll tell you."
"Then I’ll just wait for you to feel happy enough to tell me on your own," Wen Qingye said, shaking his head. He then stood up and started walking toward Sanjing Pass.
"Hmph! I give you a chance and you don’t even know how to take it. Fine, you can wait then," Qingg Ruo’ai huffed.
「Outside Sanjing Pass.」
An expanse of yellow sand filled the air. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but an endless sea of golden grit.
Faintly, one could see black Evil Qi constantly rising and steaming from above.
Qingg Ruo’ai asked, confused, "Why did you retract the Qilin Fire back into your Qi Sea?"
Wen Qingye said, "This world is full of extraordinary people. If others found out that I possess a treasure like the Qilin Fire... ’an innocent man gets into trouble because of the treasure he carries.’ Besides, I’ve only just gained initial control over the Qilin Fire and haven’t fully refined it yet. It will take a great deal of time to integrate. I’ll think about it again after that’s done. For now, it’s not convenient to reveal it at will."
In truth, Wen Qingye’s current cultivation was not low. Although he appeared to only be at the Life and Death Realm First Layer Heaven, the true richness of his Primordial Qi was in no way inferior to that of a peak expert at the Life and Death Realm Second Layer. Even without using the Qilin Fire, Wen Qingye was confident he could fight an ordinary expert at the Life and Death Realm Third Layer Heaven.
It was only to be expected that Lim Tian was slain by Wen Qingye. Possessing the Slaying Immortal Sword Dao, the Lifeless Sword Dao, the Spirit-Grade Magical Artifact One Thought Sword, and other supreme Martial Arts, how could Lim Tian possibly have been Wen Qingye’s opponent?
The only thing Wen Qingye was worried about was whether any of the spectators that day had noticed him using the Qilin Fire.
That was why he was now deliberately separating the Qilin Fire from his Primordial Qi, hiding that wisp of origin Qilin Fire deep within his Qi Sea.
Wen Qingye gazed ahead. He saw black Evil Qi shooting straight into the clouds, like a smoke signal from a beacon in the great desert reaching for the heavens. He couldn’t help but quicken his pace, heading toward the nearest Evil Land.
"Are you really not interested in that Immortal Coffin Sect?" Qingg Ruo’ai asked persistently along the way.
Wen Qingye shrugged nonchalantly. "If you want to talk, I’ll listen. If you don’t, I won’t."
"Fine, fine! I give up! This granny can’t take it anymore! I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you everything!" Qingg Ruo’ai said through gritted teeth, looking at Wen Qingye’s attitude.
Wen Qingye couldn’t help but laugh to himself. ’Some people are just like that, unable to keep anything to themselves. You don’t even have to ask, and they’ll spill the beans on their own. Clearly, my Sword Spirit has that kind of personality.’
"About the Immortal Coffin Sect... one part of the rumors is true. A long time ago, there was a Great Power whose time was up. He didn’t want to die, and he wanted to preserve his body, so he cultivated a Secret Technique, hoping that one day he could be resurrected."
Qingg Ruo’ai rubbed her chin and continued, "Then, that Great Power spent who knows how much time, how many rare materials and resources, to finally forge that peerless coffin. But the moment the coffin was completed, something strange happened. A bizarre Three-Colored Thunder Tribulation suddenly erupted in the sky and struck down with immense force."
"A Three-Colored Thunder Tribulation? An Immortal Artifact?" Wen Qingye couldn’t help but feel astonished when he heard Qingg Ruo’ai’s words.
