Myriad Dragon Divine Sovereign
Chapter 583 - 592: Qilin Fire
A colossal sound reverberated endlessly, echoing in all directions and shaking Wen Qingye to his very core. That’s right, it shook him to his very core.
At the same time, the entire sea of magma seemed to erupt into a riot.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A deafening, immense sound rang out continuously, and the entire expanse of magma trembled violently.
The surface of the magma suddenly ruptured. Countless pillars of flame shot violently toward the heavens. The pillars then exploded, showering down like a torrential fiery rain from mid-air.
Countless pillars of fire shot upward, and the air instantly became scorching hot.
Wen Qingye’s expression tensed. He dodged repeatedly, hurriedly evading the onslaught of several pillars of fire, but a few drops of magma still spattered onto his clothes.
A five-colored brilliance flickered across Wen Qingye’s skin. The light swirled and instantly blocked the scorching magma.
Still, he felt a flash of intense heat, and his brow furrowed.
"What is that?" Qingg Ruo’ai’s expression shifted. "Is that roar really from the Holy Beast Qilin?"
"Yes." The joy in Wen Qingye’s eyes was irrepressible. He had heard a Qilin’s roar before, and this was identical. There was a high chance that a wisp of the Qilin’s Origin Fire was hidden in this magma.
This explained why the Qinghuo Clan had built this altar—they were the guardians of the Qilin Fire.
Qingg Ruo’ai said worriedly, "But now, how do we make the Qilin Fire reveal itself? And I have a feeling this is far too dangerous."
Wen Qingye’s eyes narrowed slightly. He took a deep breath. "Since it’s hiding in there, then I’ll just force it out into the open."
"You’re going to...?" Qingg Ruo’ai asked, confused.
With a stamp of his foot, Wen Qingye charged toward the part of the magma where the roar had originated. Primordial Qi surged from his body like a mighty river, gathering in his arm as he unleashed a punch.
"BOOM!"
The potent Primordial Qi slammed into the magma. Magma immediately splattered everywhere, and a great heatwave billowed out. Wen Qingye’s body rose slightly in the air.
A crater formed at the center of the impact, but the surrounding magma filled it in an instant.
’It’s no use. My cultivation is too low; I can’t break through the surface.’ Wen Qingye fiercely gritted his teeth. ’Looks like I can’t retreat. My only option is to use a relentless barrage of attacks to force the Qilin Fire out of the magma.’
At this thought, Wen Qingye’s body slowly descended. He formed a hand seal, and the surrounding Primordial Qi surged madly toward him.
SWISH...
Amidst the sweltering heat of the magma, a bone-chilling wind suddenly began to blow.
"Undying Seal Technique, First Form! The Yin Wind Comes to Claim Your Soul!"
A massive seal charged into the magma, and the surrounding heatwaves were swept aside.
BOOM!
The magma erupted violently, sending showers of it into the air. Wen Qingye was splattered by the molten rock, but far from retreating, he kept his hands locked in a hand seal.
An Eight Trigrams Disc appeared behind him. The disc spun continuously, and with each rotation, the hand seal in Wen Qingye’s hands grew more solid.
"Undying Seal Technique, Second Form! Separation and Death Shatter the Heart!"
Again, exploding magma shot toward the sky, but Wen Qingye did not retreat. He allowed the magma to drip onto his body, scorching his clothes.
"Undying Seal Technique, Third Form! Judgment of Yin and Yang in Yama Hall!"
A vision of Yama Hall materialized above the magma, emanating a grim, deathly aura.
...
"Undying Seal Technique, Fourth Form! Forget Your Past Life on the Bridge of Helplessness!"
The ancient, desolate Bridge of Helplessness rose up, leading toward two unknown paths.
...
"Undying Seal Technique, Fifth Form! Regretful Glances at the Netherworld Gate!"
...
A continuous stream of seals slammed mercilessly into the magma. Countless globs of molten rock shot into the air and rained down upon Wen Qingye. His clothes were completely shredded, his skin glowing red. From the continuous, uninterrupted use of the Undying Seal Technique, his face had also grown pale.
Qingg Ruo’ai saw his condition and opened her mouth to speak, but she held her tongue after seeing the look in his eyes.
She knew Wen Qingye was trying to force the Qilin Fire out with the relentless impacts.
The crater in the magma below grew deeper and deeper. Just as the surrounding magma was about to fill it, it was blasted away by Wen Qingye’s seals.
"Undying Seal Technique, Sixth Form! Braving Death to Storm the Underworld Department!"
The world around them turned pitch-black, as if the mortal realm had transformed into the Underworld Department itself. A seal shot from Wen Qingye’s hands toward the magma.
RUMBLE!
The roiling magma utterly detonated. It was as if a rain of lava was falling upon the world. Wen Qingye stood tall and proud within the curtain of molten rock, his Primordial Qi forming a barrier before him to block the assault.
The next moment!
ROAR!
The colossal roar sounded once more, this time even more intense, even more soul-shaking.
This roar made the sea of magma even more agitated.
An intensely blinding light began to shine from within the magma. As moments passed, the object inside the light slowly came into focus for Wen Qingye...
"GULP!"
When she saw clearly what was inside the light, Qingg Ruo’ai’s face instantly went slack. Her throat moved as she swallowed hard, her eyes filled with complete and utter shock!
The light flickered. The phantom of a massive Demon Beast—with the head of a dragon, antlers of a deer, eyes of a lion, back of a tiger, waist of a bear, scales of a snake, hooves of a horse, and tail of an ox—opened its eyes and gazed at Wen Qingye.
A ferocious violet-gold flame coiled around its enormous body. As the flames rose, the surrounding space seemed to distort slightly.
The colossal beast stood amidst the scorching magma, wreathed in fire. Violet-gold flames seeped endlessly from its body, burning tirelessly. It was a magnificent and undeniably breathtaking sight.
"Is... this a Qilin? A Holy Beast from the Desolate Ancient Era?"
Qingg Ruo’ai murmured to herself. Even though the Qilin’s eyes were fixed on Wen Qingye, its immense pressure was enough to make one’s legs tremble. A creature of that size was simply too staggering to behold.
Wen Qingye’s expression was grave. "That’s not a Qilin," he said. "It’s just a form manifested by the Qilin’s Origin Fire."
Even he felt a tremor of fear being stared down by the Qilin manifested from the Qilin’s Origin Fire.
Wen Qingye stood before the Qilin, his entire body no bigger than a single Dragon Scale on its form. Its massive, terrifying eyes stared down, evoking a hair-raising sense of dread.
