Chapter 580 - 589: Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf

  • Next Chapter

A young girl from the Fire Fox Clan couldn’t suppress her curiosity. Wanting to see the wonders of the outside world, she secretly ran away.

She saw things she had never seen before, and her heart filled with delight. But she soon realized something was terribly wrong.

She was lost and couldn’t find the way back to her clan.

In that vast, boundless forest, it seemed as if there was no end in sight. No plains, no wilderness, no desert—only an endless sea of trees.

Then, she encountered the greatest crisis of her life. By a stream, she came across three Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolves.

It was as if she knew her fate, for the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolves and the Fire Fox Clan had always been mortal enemies—the kind that would fight to the death.

When the three Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolves saw the girl from the Fire Fox Clan, a savage glint naturally appeared in their eyes.

The Fire Fox girl was no match for them. Just as she was about to die at the hands of the three Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolves, a young Red Blood Python appeared.

Among Demon Beasts, the bloodline of a Red Blood Python is far more powerful than that of a Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf. Although it was just a juvenile, dealing with three Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolves was no problem at all.

Things went as expected. Within moments, two of the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolves were swiftly dispatched by the Red Blood Python.

The last Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf took the girl from the Fire Fox Clan and fled in a panic, but the wolf itself was also grievously wounded.

Unexpectedly, the kind-hearted Fire Fox girl didn’t kill the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf. Instead, she took great care of it, even helping it recover from its injuries.

Later, in a strange turn of events, that Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf fell in love with the Fire Fox girl.

The Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf personally escorted the girl back to the territory of the Fire Fox Clan. Afterward, the wolf frequently returned to the clan’s territory to look for her.

The Fire Fox girl also developed feelings for him in secret, though she knew her clan would never allow such a thing.

’One day,’ she thought, ’we could elope and go somewhere no one could disturb us. We could live out the rest of our lives, happy and carefree.’

But things were not destined to end so simply. A secret like that can’t be kept forever. The Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf that frequently appeared near the Fire Fox Clan’s territory was eventually discovered by one of the clan’s experts and captured.

The entire Fire Fox Clan was shaken. They never imagined that one of their own would fall in love with a member of their mortal enemies, the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf clan.

Wen Qingye continued walking step by step through the Fire Fox Tree Forest, letting the waves of heat wash over him, seemingly lost in memory. Beside him, Qing Ruo’ai watched him and listened quietly.

’Listening to him speak felt so serene and warm, like being bathed in sunlight,’ she thought. ’It’s calming and refreshing, utterly pleasant. I have to admit, a man like him has a charm all his own.’

So, what happened next? The girl from the Fire Fox Clan was left with only one choice.

A cold blade. And that blade had to be stained with blood.

The meaning was that only one of them—she or the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf—could live. The true intention of the Fire Fox Clan was, of course, for the girl to kill the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf.

The girl took the blade, walked up to the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf, and without hesitation, plunged it in.

"What?" Hearing Wen Qingye say this, Qing Ruo’ai’s eyes went wide in stunned disbelief.

At that moment, they were nearing the end of the Fire Fox Tree Forest. Wen Qingye could already clearly see the black volcano ahead.

Lost in recollection, Wen Qingye continued in a somber voice, "The Fire Fox girl looked at the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf, tears welling in her eyes as she whispered, ’Our blood has mingled. I hope you will not forget me. Never forget me, for as long as you live. This scar is the memory I give to you. You must remember.’ None of the Fire Fox Clan members present understood. They only saw the Fire Fox girl unhesitatingly slit her own throat."

"The Fire Fox girl died before she could speak her final words. The blood from her neck slowly trickled down and was absorbed by the surrounding trees. In time, they became these Fire Fox Trees."

Qing Ruo’ai quickly asked, "What about the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf? Did the Fire Fox Clan just let him go?"

"Later..." By this time, Wen Qingye had walked out of the Fire Fox Forest. Seeing a lush, green thicket with the faint outline of a cave entrance ahead, he said cheerfully, "There seems to be an opening up ahead! That’s the place. We’ll talk about the Purple Gold Profound Moon Wolf later."

With that, Wen Qingye started walking forward, step by step.

"What was that for?" Qing Ruo’ai pouted, extremely displeased. ’I hate it when people leave a story half-finished! Hmph, don’t even think about getting me to help you next time. Not a chance!’

’As for what happened later, you’ll find out eventually,’ Wen Qingye thought, laughing to himself as he listened to Qing Ruo’ai’s complaints.

Before long, Wen Qingye arrived before the cave entrance. It was utterly black, its gloom holding a sense of the unknown, a certain thrilling quality.

Qing Ruo’ai asked, "Are you sure you want to go in there to find the Qilin Fire? This is the Forbidden Land of the Qinghuo Race. It’s definitely not simple inside. It’s extremely dangerous. Don’t go getting yourself killed in there."

"We’re going in!"

Wen Qingye nodded, took a deep breath, glanced at the dormant volcano before him, and then slowly walked forward into the opening.

Upon entering the cave, Wen Qingye could still use the ambient light from outside to make out the scenery near the entrance.

The stone walls were covered in carved patterns. These patterns were ancient and peculiar. They had clearly been carved by members of the Qinghuo Race; the patterns were their people’s language.

"Why do you think the Qinghuo Race considers this place a Forbidden Land?" Wen Qingye asked, his fingers tracing the patterns on the stone wall.

Qing Ruo’ai rolled her eyes and said, "Because it’s important, obviously."

Wen Qingye nodded and continued walking forward. The deeper he went, the darker it became.

He had to take out a Fire Stick and light it. He then proceeded onward, observing the strange patterns on the surrounding walls as he walked.

The things etched in these patterns were all swirling balls of flame. The lines were clear, but the style of the engravings was not something an ordinary person could easily decipher.

RUMBLE!

Just then, a sudden, fierce gust of wind swept out from the depths of the cave, but this wind carried a wave of heat.

Wen Qingye’s brow furrowed slightly, but he continued walking forward.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, the path ahead suddenly seemed to brighten. Below him was a winding, spiraling corridor, circling its way down into the depths.

And beneath the corridor, there was only an endless darkness.
