My Youth Began With Him

Chapter 4097 - A Nightmare (17)

Chapter 4097: A Nightmare (17)

Qin Chu listened painfully; he didn’t expect this outcome and blamed himself. After all, Lu Yan left with him, and he came back unscathed, while she…

He felt apologetic towards Qiao Fei. “Fei, this was my fault, I should’ve used my brain a little more.”

“Don’t say that, you might not even be able to defeat Yan if you tried. The fact that you came back safely and she didn’t means that she was their target. So, please don’t blame yourself.”

Like Qin Chu, Qiao Fei was extremely intelligent; he was able to calmly analyze the situation.

However, Qin Chu didn’t feel less guilty; not only did he lose Lu Yan, she may also be dead.

Qiao Fei even said that there was a puddle of blood that matched Lu Yan’s… if it really was her, that amount of blood loss would’ve left her dead a long time ago.

How is Huo Mian going to react once she hears about Lu Yan?

“Chu… don’t tell Mian about this yet. If she asks, just tell her Yan’s missing. Don’t go into specifics,” Qiao Fei reminded Qin Chu, who nodded his head gravely.

“I know.”

“Chu, I’m going to call Professor Lu and then leave.”

“Where are you going?” Qin Chu asked.

“I need to go look for Yan. I’m not giving up until I find her body, I’ll go to the ends of the earth to find her,” Qiao Fei said as he ripped the blood test results into pieces. Then, he turned around to leave.

Qin Chu failed to anticipate everything that had happened; although most of them were still alive, none of them were living the ending they had hoped. What surprised him the most was Huo Siqian’s sudden heroism; who knew he would change from Jack to Huo Siqian before all of this happened?

As his mind raced, Qin Chu took out a cigarette and, leaning against the hospital hallway, lit it up. He had never felt so much pressure in his life; the anxiety he felt was more than what happened four years ago, when Huo Siqian tried to kill him and he was afraid to go home.

All he could think about was the fact that he had to tell Huo Mian that their boy was gone once she woke up. He was the apple of their eye, a baby that was so close to being born into the world.

– Su Yu’s hospital room –

Su Yu had been quiet ever since he came back from checking on Huo Mian. His mother came to visit him; even his father and grandpa made a secret trip back to see if he was okay. Because Mr. Su and Grandpa Su couldn’t stay, after they left, Mrs. Su stayed behind to take care of Su Yu.

“Yu, you need to eat, your body needs the nutrition. Come and have a sip of millet porridge.” Mrs. Su treated Su Yu like he was a little boy sick with the flu.

“Mom, I’m not hungry at all.” Su Yu’s voice was raspy; Mrs. Su could tell that he had a lot on his mind.

“Even so, you should still eat something… Mian won’t be happy to see you like this when she wakes up.”

“Mom, I won’t be able to face Mian again. She’s never going to forgive me.” Su Yu buried his head in his arms, feeling extremely guilty. All he could see when he closed his eyes was Huo Mian’s dead baby. He was completely scared by what had happened.

“Mian’s not like that, don’t worry.”

“That makes me feel even worse. I’d rather she hit me and swear at me.”

Just then, one of the bodyguards knocked on the door, interrupting their conversation. “Ma’am, Doctor Zhao told me to tell you that Ms. Huo woke up five minutes ago.”

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Su and Su Yu’s expressions changed.
