Qin Chu didn’t know that it was Huo Yanyan who had put the poison in; after all, he had been watching out for Huo Siqian.

In the ashes of the burned coat, he saw some unusual colors.

With years of medical training, he could see these colors represented poison.

Qin Chu returned to the changing room with a dark expression.

“President Qin, please take a seat. I’ll bring you a glass of water, and you can wait here for our Deputy Director.” The young nurse was very attentive.

“No trouble. I’ll go in to see her.”

Before the young nurse could reply, he put on the scrubs and walked in.

“President Qin… You’re not medical staff of our hospital, you can’t go in there…”

No matter what she said, Qin Chu insisted on going in to see Huo Mian.

He wanted to be with Huo Mian all the time, even in an operation.

“Wipe sweat for me…” Having not done such a difficult operation for a long time, Huo Mian was a bit nervous.

Sweat began to pop out on her forehead…

Immediately, a big hand reached out with a sterilized handkerchief and wiped her forehead gently.

Smelling a familiar scent, she turned her head curiously and then froze.

“Honey… You… Why are you here?” Huo Mian almost thought she was in a dream.

“I’m here to watch you so no one kidnaps you…” Mr. Qin joked with a straight face.

“Pu…! Honey, don’t joke about it.”

Huo Mian almost laughed, but it wasn’t a place to be joking around.

“How are you doing? Which stage are you in?” Qin Chu asked.

“I just opened the chest and saw the heart. I’m afraid I’ve got to cut out the necrotic tissue and replace it with mechanical devices,” said Huo Mian.

“Take a seat over there,” said Qin Chu.

“Huh?” Huo Mian was confused.

“I’ll do it.”

Before she could react, he took the scalpel from her hand.

“Hey… Honey, this is a cardiac operation, not neurosurgery. Can you do it?” Huo Mian was concerned.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure my skills are no worse than yours.” Mr. Qin showed his arrogance again.

Huo Mian: “…”

Qin Chu breaking in was indeed against the rules of the hospital; he even took the operation from Huo Mian’s hands.

But she was full of happiness because she knew Mr. Qin did all this just for her.

“Deputy Director, please take some water.” The assistant nurse handed her a glass of water.

“Okay. Put it down first. I’m not thirsty yet.” Huo Mian didn’t drink it.

She wasn’t a suspicious person, but this was a special period and she was a lot more vigilant. She was on guard and wouldn’t eat or drink things outside of her home.

She didn’t know whom she could trust…

The operation which was supposed to last more than three hours ended in less than one and a half hours.

Qin Chu was fatigued due to the mentally demanding work.

When the operation ended, everyone heaved a sigh of relief…

“Deputy Director, everything looks good with the patient; the operation is a success,” the assistant nurse sounded excited.

“Good. Move him to the ICU. Everyone, you did a good job.” Huo Mian smiled.

“We didn’t do anything. Deputy Director, you’ve done a good job. Your husband did an awesome job…” The young nurses laughed in envy.

“Deputy Director, your husband’s skills with the scalpel are extraordinary…” It was the first time that the surgeon saw Qin Chu perform surgery; he was full of praises.

“My husband… um… only took the medical training as a hobby. Don’t make it a big deal.” Huo Mian was modest.

With his arm around Huo Mian’s shoulders, Qin Chu walked her out of the OR into the changing room.

“Huh? Where’s my coat?” Huo Mian opened the wardrobe and froze.

“I burned it,” he said.

“What?” Huo Mian thought she had heard him wrong and asked Mr. Qin again.
