“Your mom’s just too excited.” Qin Yumin smiled.

Huo Mian pulled out a chair and said, “Dad… please sit.”

“Good, good.” Qin Yumin beamed at Huo Mian and nodded his head nonstop.

Qin Chu, on the other hand, gently looked at Huo Mian; she looked like a shy little wife who just got married, adorable as could be.

A minute later, Mrs. Qin rushed downstairs with a square handbag in her hands.

It was brand new, with a relatively young design. It was obvious that this handbag wasn’t one a woman of Mrs. Qin’s age would use.

“Mom… your red pocket is a bag?” Qin Chu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

“Hey, don’t look down on this bag, your mother bought it a few days ago while she was traveling in France. It’s a limited-edition Hermes.”

“This bag looks to be about 400,000 yuan. Mom, you sure are generous…” Qin Chu laughed, but Mrs. Qin didn’t say anything. She simply walked up to them and handed the bag to Huo Mian.

“Take it, I bought it for you in France.”

“Um…” Huo Mian felt embarrassed; after all, it was a really expensive luxury item.

“Take it, it’s a gift for calling her ‘mom’,” Qin Chu reminded with a smile.

“Thanks, Mom.” Only then did Huo Mian stop acting reserved and carefully took the bag.

It was a pretty light-yellow bag that was delicately made.

Huo Mian really liked the bag, but upon hearing that it cost 400,000 yuan, she felt her heart bleeding…

She wasn’t used to such a luxurious life yet; from the looks of it, she probably had to use the bag for at least 5 years…

Huo Mian felt her heart well up with warmth upon seeing all the seafood dishes on the dining table. She was probably the only person on the table who liked seafood, so everything was for her.

For a wealthy family like the Qins, money wasn’t the most important thing; it was the thought that mattered.

Ever since they talked things out last time, Mrs. Qin seemed to see through Song Yishi’s true colors and therefore stopped picking on Huo Mian.

“Huo Mian, seafood might taste good, but it’s still cold for your body. Once you finish dinner, remember to drink some brown sugar ginger water to warm your body up… especially since you’re trying to get pregnant,” Mrs. Qin reminded her.

“Yeah, I haven’t had seafood in a while. Even when I do, I always remember to drink womb-warming Chinese medicine afterward.”

Mrs. Qin nodded, and Mr. Qin said, “Chu, your uncle called yesterday and asked our family to go visit them in Hawaii during Chinese New Year. Do you want to go?”

After a moment’s thought, Qin Chu answered, “Not this year. Mian’s brother is studying abroad and her mother will be all alone this year. We need to be considerate of her feelings, but if you and mom want to go, you should go.”

“Let’s not go either, Hawaii is still the US. It won’t feel like Chinese New Year there…” Mrs. Qin interjected.

“Dad, why don’t you invite my uncle’s family here?”

“I did, but they won’t come. They’ve been there for decades and treat that country like home,” Qin Yumin said.

The four of them ate as they chitchatted…

Mrs. Qin suddenly remembered something and glanced over at Huo Mian. “I saw the live broadcast of you and Song Yishi the other day.”

Huo Mian noticed that instead of ‘Yishi’, Mrs. Qin called Song Yishi by her full name.

“Yeah, it’s a charity show. The production team said that they’re donating 1 million yuan to undereducated children,” Huo Mian said nonchalantly. She would never tell them about Song Yishi’s failed attempt to ruin her reputation.

After all, she didn’t want to be a petty person who talked behind others’ backs…

Mrs. Qin, on the other hand, said unhappily, “I did some digging, and it turns out that TV station doesn’t even have that program, and the million yuan was Song Yishi’s own money. She conspired everything.”
