My Wives are Beautiful Demons

Chapter 940: The Trouble Inside Vergil

Amaterasu remained at the center of the courtyard as the golden light from her arrival slowly faded around her body.

Unlike her two sisters, her presence required no display of strength to dominate the environment.

She was tall, with an elegant posture and mature appearance, her long pale-golden hair falling almost to her knees and becoming nearly white at the tips because of the light radiating from it.

Her eyes were an intense red, shining like tiny supernovas, while a thin golden solar mark rested at the center of her forehead.

She wore a long ceremonial kimono in white and red, layered and decorated with golden threads forming small suns, clouds, and flowers across the fabric.

Behind her head floated a large circle of light resembling a solar halo, accompanied by small golden fragments that looked like flames but produced no heat.

"I am sincerely asking both of you to stop shredding space-time before this dimension collapses completely."

Amaterasu brought her hands together in front of her body and looked first at Vergil, but her eyes quickly moved toward Susanoo, making it obvious who she considered primarily responsible.

"I’ve already been repairing this dimension for some time, Susanoo. I don’t want the people above us complaining to me again."

Vergil, who until then had simply been observing the newcomer, frowned at the extremely casual way one of Japan’s greatest deities had referred to someone apparently above her.

"The people above you?" Vergil repeated, sheathing Yamato as he tried to understand exactly what hierarchy they were talking about.

"There are beings more important than us."

Tsukuyomi answered before Amaterasu needed to explain, still sitting in the air with her legs crossed and her face resting against one hand.

"But you won’t be meeting them yet. Even if they tried to speak directly with you right now, there would probably be certain difficulties along the way."

Vergil became even more confused by that answer.

Considering some of the existences he had already met personally, his frame of reference for what could be considered important had become considerably distorted.

"Is there anyone more important than Yggdrasil?"

Vergil asked casually, as though he had just mentioned some acquaintance he had met during an ordinary trip.

Silence immediately fell.

Amaterasu looked at him.

Tsukuyomi slowly uncrossed her legs in midair.

Susanoo, who until then had merely seemed irritated by her older sister’s interruption, also turned completely toward him.

"How do you know Yggdrasil?" Amaterasu asked, and the change in her expression made it clear that this information was considerably more important than Vergil had expected.

Vergil shrugged.

Before he could answer, a small bluish distortion appeared beside his body.

Draconic energy rapidly condensed until Niddrog simply jumped out of him in her humanoid form, her long blue hair swaying as she landed on the ground with an extremely offended expression.

"That hag threw me inside his body just to get rid of me!"

Niddrog immediately complained, stomping one foot against the ground while pointing at Vergil as if he had also participated in the crime.

"I didn’t even want to be trapped in here like this!"

Vergil raised one hand.

Toc.

His fingers struck the top of her head with a sharp flick.

"Back inside."

Vergil pointed toward his own chest with an expression that made it obvious this was not a negotiation.

"Ow! You always do that to me!"

Niddrog brought both hands to her head and whined while her form began dissolving into bluish energy, being pulled back into Vergil’s soul.

"I was only explaining!"

Susanoo kept staring at Vergil.

Tsukuyomi did too.

Amaterasu didn’t even blink.

None of the three looked remotely satisfied with the amount of information they had just received.

Vergil opened his mouth to try explaining, but another presence began emerging from his body.

"No."

Too late.

Qliphoth materialized beside him in her feminine form, her long red hair falling down her back while her presence carried that unusual mixture of demonic energy and nature that immediately drew the attention of all three goddesses.

"There was an incident."

Qliphoth spoke calmly, apparently completely ignoring Vergil’s stare.

"He had to travel to the roots of the world because of some Valkyries and ended up meeting my older sister. That was where he met Yggdrasil."

Vergil raised his hand again.

Qliphoth finally looked at him.

TOC.

This time, the flick was considerably stronger.

"You too. Back inside."

Vergil pointed toward himself again while Qliphoth placed one hand on top of her head, clearly more offended by the disrespect than by any pain the strike had caused.

"I merely answered the question."

Qliphoth narrowed her eyes at him, but her manifestation had already begun fading before Vergil decided to hit her again.

"I didn’t ask you to answer."

Qliphoth disappeared completely.

Vergil spent several seconds staring at the empty space where she had been before taking a deep breath.

When he turned his attention back toward the three goddesses, he found exactly the same expressions as before.

Perhaps worse.

"Sorry about that."

Vergil ran a hand through his hair and let out a tired sigh.

"I have four troublesome beings inside me, and I still haven’t figured out how to manage my inner world with so many people causing problems at the same time."

Somewhere inside him, two Dragon Empresses immediately began complaining about the classification.

Vergil ignored both.

Amaterasu, however, continued staring directly at the place where Qliphoth had disappeared.

Her normally majestic expression had been replaced by surprise that was very difficult to hide.

"Was that a Negative World Tree?"

Amaterasu finally asked, and even her voice had lost some of its previous composure as she tried to sense Qliphoth’s lingering signature again.

"Yes."

Vergil answered simply before realizing that perhaps this information was even more problematic than mentioning Yggdrasil.

"But I would appreciate it if you kept that secret. I don’t want trouble with those ’people above you,’ whatever that means."

Amaterasu didn’t answer immediately.

Susanoo looked toward her older sister, waiting for an explanation.

Tsukuyomi simply returned to observing Vergil with even greater interest than before.

The three silently reached the same conclusion.

They had absolutely no idea what that child was hiding.

First, two Dragon Empresses.

Then six Authorities of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Now a descendant of a World Tree living inside his soul, a creature connected to Yggdrasil’s roots entering and leaving his body, along with casual confirmation that he had personally reached the roots of the world and spoken with Yggdrasil.

And Vergil talked about all of it as though they were merely inconvenient events from an ordinary week.

"I think I’d rather stop asking questions."

Amaterasu finally brought two fingers to her forehead, deciding that protecting dimensional stability was currently a much more manageable problem.

"Smart decision."

Vergil immediately agreed, feeling that this was probably the first completely sensible thing anyone had said since Amaterasu arrived.

Susanoo stared at him for several seconds, clearly wanting to ask at least twenty more questions, but Vergil stretched before she could begin.

He moved his shoulders, looked toward the countless fissures still slowly closing across the Storm World’s sky, and realized that Amaterasu genuinely had a point about one problem.

"Susanoo, get us two wooden swords."

Vergil extended one hand while thinking of a simple solution that would allow them to continue training.

"That way, we don’t have to keep cutting space-time every time we try to hit each other and—"

Yamato disappeared from his waist.

Vergil stopped immediately.

White and violet energy spread beside him before the katana assumed her human form.

Yamato appeared with her long lavender hair falling down her back, her normally elegant expression completely replaced by irritation.

Her arms were crossed beneath her breasts while her eyes remained fixed on Vergil with an intensity that made even Tsukuyomi raise her eyebrows.

"What did I tell you about using other swords?"

Yamato asked in a low voice, but one filled with enough jealousy to make it perfectly clear that she did not consider this a technical matter.

Vergil blinked.

"Yamato, it’s just a wooden sword."

"I don’t care."

Yamato narrowed her eyes even further, and the energy around her increased slightly as she stared at Vergil.

"If you don’t want to cut, learn to control yourself."

Susanoo looked at Yamato.

Then at Vergil.

Then back at Yamato.

The spiritual sword didn’t even give him a chance to argue.

Her body turned back into energy and rapidly condensed, returning to the form of a simple katana attached to Vergil’s waist as though absolutely nothing had happened.

Silence filled the courtyard.

Vergil slowly lowered his eyes toward Yamato.

"Wow..."

Vergil muttered while running one hand over his face, realizing that apparently his sword had decided to turn the training session into a marital issue.

Tsukuyomi covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.

Susanoo continued staring at Yamato with a very different expression.

Amaterasu simply closed her eyes.

In less than five minutes, she was already beginning to understand perfectly why her younger sister had become so interested in that man.
