My Wives are Beautiful Demons

Chapter 916: Yamato’s Jealousy

  • Next Chapter

Mjölnir remained motionless on the bench for several seconds, as if carefully analyzing Yamato’s new form. The hammer had spent enough time linked to Vergil to understand the katana’s extremely possessive personality perfectly, but even she seemed to need a moment to process the fact that the refined, silent, normally elegant sword now had legs, arms, a voice of her own, and a body that definitely did not match the austere image she tried to project.

Then a female voice came directly from the hammer.

"You got pretty slutty with that extravagant body."

Vergil stopped.

Niddrog turned her head.

Crymsaria broke into an enormous grin.

Nivara covered her mouth.

Mjölnir continued, completely fearless of the consequences.

"All that refined-katana elegance went straight to hell."

Yamato’s face went blank.

For approximately two seconds.

Then her expression changed.

"Hey! Hey, can you all hear me?!" Mjölnir said when she realized it, but it was already too late.

Yamato’s blue-violet eyes narrowed, her brows lowered, and a bluish aura began leaking from her newly formed body as she slowly walked toward the bench.

Vergil recognized that energy.

"Yamato..."

She ignored him.

"FRIEND. FRIEND! WE’RE FRIENDS, RIGHT?!" Mjölnir vibrated uncontrollably.

Yamato grabbed the hammer’s handle.

"DON’T TOUCH ME! NO!" Mjölnir screamed.

"Go to hell, you bitch!"

And hurled Mjölnir.

She did not drop her.

She did not throw her a few meters.

She launched her with all the strength her newly created body could produce.

"I HATE YOU—"

The hammer became a black dot streaking across the sky, broke the sound barrier several seconds later, and disappeared completely behind the mountains on the horizon.

Vergil stared at the place where Mjölnir had vanished.

Crymsaria completely lost control and burst into laughter.

Nivara turned her face away, but her shoulders were shaking.

Niddrog simply remained silent.

"You..." Vergil pointed toward the horizon. "You just threw Mjölnir out of the country."

Yamato slapped one hand against the other, cleaning them as though she had just touched something extremely filthy.

"She’ll come back."

Vergil opened his mouth.

Stopped.

"Unfortunately true."

Yamato slowly turned her head toward him.

Vergil immediately realized the problem was not over.

Those eyes that only minutes ago had been filled with curiosity while she discovered her own body now carried a very specific murderous intent.

But they were not looking only at him.

They looked at the ground.

More specifically, at the small wooden sword Vergil had abandoned during all the chaos.

The training sword had no consciousness.

No spirit.

No ability whatsoever to understand what was happening.

Even so, if it had possessed any of those things, it probably would have been afraid.

Yamato marched toward Vergil.

He remained still, looking her up and down almost involuntarily, still trying to reconcile this woman with the weapon he had carried for so long.

Yamato noticed.

That did not improve her mood.

She stopped in front of him, looked at the wooden sword in his hand, and made such a genuinely disgusted expression that Nivara made a strange sound trying not to laugh.

"Give me that."

Vergil looked at the sword.

Then at her.

"Yamato, it is literally wood."

"Give. It. To me."

He handed it over.

Not because he was afraid.

Definitely not.

Only because he had learned that arguing with Yamato had been much simpler back when she did not have hands to rip things away from him.

Yamato held the wooden sword between her fingers as though she were holding wet garbage.

"This?"

Vergil crossed his arms.

"It’s a training sword."

"This is a badly cut piece of tree."

"Niddrog literally eats trees and even she isn’t complaining."

"I would eat it," Niddrog commented.

Yamato shot her a look.

Niddrog raised both hands.

"Just saying."

Yamato returned her attention to the sword.

Then blue-violet energy began running over her fingers.

Vergil noticed.

"Oh, no."

The energy entered the wood.

An absurd amount of it.

"Yamato."

The small sword began trembling.

"Yamato, don’t be childish."

She injected even more.

"It didn’t do anything."

BOOM.

The sword exploded.

Thousands of wooden fragments flew in every direction, but a small automatic barrier from Nivara prevented any of them from hitting anyone.

When the smoke cleared, Yamato was left holding only the charred handle between her fingers.

She looked at it.

"Tsk."

Then threw it onto the ground.

"Trash."

Vergil stared at the remains of the training sword.

"It cost twenty euros."

Yamato crossed her arms.

The movement made her generous chest rise slightly against the white fabric of her dress, something Vergil noticed despite trying to keep his attention on the actual problem.

"Don’t you have something to say, Master?"

Vergil raised his eyes.

She was clearly talking about the sword.

The wooden sword.

The betrayal.

The fact that he had spent hours training with another weapon while Yamato watched from the bench.

Vergil, however, was thinking about something else.

His eyes slowly traveled from her feet to her face.

The long legs.

The pronounced hips.

The absurdly narrow waist.

The generous chest.

The surreal beauty of her face.

Then he turned toward Niddrog.

"Hey."

Niddrog raised an eyebrow.

"Why does she have such a..."

Vergil stopped before finishing.

Niddrog smiled.

"Slutty body?"

Yamato’s eyes widened.

Crymsaria practically folded over trying to contain her laughter.

Vergil pointed at Niddrog.

"I was going to say extravagant."

"Lie," Nivara said.

"Complete lie," Crymsaria agreed.

Niddrog shrugged.

"It wasn’t me."

Vergil looked at her.

"You did this."

"I just gave her a little push."

"You broke my sword using draconic energy."

"Yes, but I didn’t choose the form."

Niddrog approached Yamato and examined her from head to toe with the expression of someone studying an interesting experiment.

"I used a small amount of the energy I got from the roots of the World Tree, mixed it with hers, and forced the spirit through the manifestation stage."

Vergil frowned.

"So she would have been able to do this eventually?"

"Yes."

Yamato also looked surprised.

Niddrog nodded.

"Sooner or later, she would have awakened on her own. I only accelerated it."

Vergil looked back at Yamato.

"So this body..."

"Is hers."

"You didn’t alter anything?"

"No."

Niddrog pointed directly at Yamato.

"This is the image she has of herself."

Silence.

Yamato turned red.

Very red.

Crymsaria looked at Yamato.

Then at her own body.

The Dragon Empress had curves every bit as exaggeratedly feminine as Yamato’s, and after a few seconds an extremely inconvenient conclusion appeared in her mind.

"Well..."

Yamato slowly looked at her.

Crymsaria rested one hand on her hip.

"Vergil has a lot of hot women around him."

"Do not finish that sentence," Yamato warned.

Crymsaria smiled.

"No wonder the sword decided she wanted to please him too."

Yamato’s face turned even redder.

"I DIDN’T CHOOSE ANYTHING!"

Crymsaria started laughing.

"Of course."

"I WAS PERFECTLY FINE BEING A SWORD!"

"You just destroyed a wooden sword because he touched it," Nivara pointed out.

"THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!"

"It has quite a lot to do with it," Niddrog said.

Yamato pointed at all of them.

"I hate you."

Crymsaria placed a hand over her chest.

"How cruel."

Nivara, however, seemed much more interested in continuing to cause trouble.

She calmly observed Yamato for several seconds before smiling.

"You say that now."

Yamato narrowed her eyes.

"Say what?"

"That you were perfectly fine being a sword."

"Because I was."

"Of course."

Nivara crossed her arms.

"But I’m absolutely certain that if Vergil lets you, you’ll sleep with him in this form without clothes every chance you get."

The world went silent.

Vergil slowly turned his head.

Niddrog’s eyes widened.

Crymsaria brought both hands to her mouth before the laughter escaped.

Yamato went completely still.

"N-No."

Nivara smiled.

"No?"

"Of course not!"

"You hesitated."

"I did not hesitate!"

"You stuttered."

"I JUST GOT A MOUTH!"

Crymsaria burst into laughter.

"That was good!"

Yamato spun toward her.

"SHUT UP!"

"You imagined it!"

"I DIDN’T IMAGINE ANYTHING!"

Nivara remained perfectly calm.

"Your face is red."

"It’s the draconic energy!"

"That’s not how it works," Niddrog commented.

"NO ONE ASKED YOU!"

Yamato was preparing to say something else—probably some threat against every dragon present—when she felt something different.

Warmth.

Arms wrapped around her waist from behind.

She froze.

Vergil had simply approached during the argument and embraced her.

Yamato’s body became completely rigid.

"V-Vergil?"

He rested his chin on her shoulder.

Yamato did not even seem to know what to do with her own arms.

Vergil tightened the embrace slightly, feeling for the first time not the cold sheath, not the rigid hilt, not the spiritual energy of a weapon.

But Yamato.

Warm.

Alive.

Real.

"You’re pretty warm," he murmured.

Her face turned red all the way to her ears.

Crymsaria immediately began smiling.

So did Nivara.

Vergil continued, clearly amused by her reaction.

"For such a refined sword."

Yamato opened her mouth.

Nothing came out.

Vergil realized this might be the first time since her manifestation that she had been completely speechless.

"You were complaining that I was using another sword," he continued. "Now I’m holding you."

Yamato finally managed to speak.

"This..."

She glanced down at the arms around her waist.

"This isn’t the same thing."

"No?"

"No."

Vergil moved his face closer to her hair.

"I prefer it this way."

Yamato stopped breathing for several seconds.

Crymsaria slowly turned toward Nivara.

"I withdraw my previous bet."

Nivara raised an eyebrow.

"What’s the new one?"

"She doesn’t last twenty minutes."

Niddrog crossed her arms.

"Five."

Yamato heard them.

The embarrassment vanished instantly.

"I’M GOING TO KILL ALL THREE OF YOU!"

She tried to break free from Vergil’s embrace to charge at the dragons, but he simply tightened his hold around her waist and kept her in place.

"Calm down."

"LET ME GO!"

"You were just born."

"AND I ALREADY WANT TO KILL THREE PEOPLE!"

"That is disturbingly normal for someone connected to me."

Nivara laughed.

So did Crymsaria.

Niddrog raised one hand.

"Technically, I wasn’t born—"

"YOU FIRST!"

Niddrog took a step back.

Vergil laughed and finally loosened his embrace.

Yamato immediately turned toward him.

Still red.

Still irritated.

Still looking as though she could not decide whether she wanted to complain, hit him, or return to the embrace.

Vergil watched her for several seconds.

"So."

Yamato narrowed her eyes.

"What?"

He pointed toward the remains of the wooden sword scattered across the field.

"Now I need another sword to train with."

The murderous aura returned instantly.

Crymsaria fell to the ground laughing.
