Chapter 1100 - You Make Me Want to F*cK Your Brains Out When You Say Such Things (Lu Guixin Part 24)
Chapter 1100: You Make Me Want to F*cK Your Brains Out When You Say Such Things (Lu Guixin Part 24)
Most of the people had already returned to their dorms at this point, so there weren’t many people in school.
Zhou Fu looked at Lu Guixin’s feet and then went to hold her hand. “Lu Guixin, slow down. I want to stay with you for a bit longer.”
“Go stay with someone smart.” Lu Guixin shook his hand off.
“I like people who aren’t too bright, who don’t know how to do their homework, and who know how to woo someone.”
“Stop copying me!” Those were the words she had said to him before.
“I tutor you in academics, and you teach me how to woo a girl. Isn’t that quite fair?” Zhou Fu raised his eyebrows in a matter-of-fact manner before bending down slightly upon recalling something. He said to her, “You ranked in the top three hundred on the monthly exam, so I’m here to fulfill your wish, my girlfriend.”
Lu Guixin gave him a frigid look and said in an equally icy tone, “From the last.”
“It’s the same,” said Zhou Fu. “Girlfriend.”
“Take it that I regret it. I don’t want that wish anymore,” said Lu Guixin, expressionless, while struggling to remove her hand from his scorching palm.
Zhou Fu tightened his grip on her and stared into her eyes, his lips moving to say, “You can’t take back your wish.”
Lu Guixin’s anger surged when she was unable to break free from his grasp. Thus, she bent her head down to bite his hand, a metallic scent filling her mouth the moment her teeth sank into his flesh.
Zhou Fu hissed in pain as he stiffened, but he refused to let her go. He endured the pain and said, “I’ll need a plaster for my hand tomorrow. You go buy it for me.”
Lu Guixin’s jaw was starting to ache, but he still refused to let her go.
Under the dim light, two rows of dark red teeth marks could be seen on Zhou Fu’s bony hand. He took a look at it, but he didn’t say anything about it until they reached a fork. He turned and dragged her to the school’s pharmacy. “Buy me a plaster.”
“Nope.” Lu Guixin squatted on the ground in protest.
Zhou Fu was speechless to see her act so shamelessly. He squatted right in front of her, his hand still holding onto hers as he showed her the wound on the back of his hand. “You have to take responsibility for biting me, my little princess. Go buy the plaster for me.”
Lu Guixin averted her gaze. “Get someone else to do it.”
“But I want you to do it.” Zhou Fu gazed at her face.
Lu Guixin snorted and said sarcastically, “Why can’t you let others buy the plaster for you? You already let someone else hug you, anyway.”
She was starting to settle the scores with him.
Zhou Fu wanted to argue that Tan Ying had hugged her too, but he didn’t dare to mention it. Instead, he explained, “I’ve threw uniform away and bought a new set.”
He didn’t like others touching him, either.
“You don’t even let me look at you.”
“Says who?” Zhou Fu then reminded her, “The first time you looked at me, you were practically staring at me.”
He didn’t even look at me properly, and yet he knew that I was staring at him? She then huffed in indignation, “There are a bunch of photos of you playing basketball that are available for everyone to see.”
Zhou Fu pursed his lips for a couple of seconds before pulling her hand toward him. He wanted to slip her hand under his shirt, but he stopped halfway and said to her, “I’ll let you touch me when you’re older.”
“No, I want to do it now.” Lu Guixin slipped her other hand under his shirt and touched his waist in exploration.
Zhou Fu stopped breathing for a second, his gaze suddenly darkening. His skin was burning hot, and the moment Lu Guixin’s cool fingers touched him, his mind went blank for several seconds.
Lu Guixin feigned calmness as she greedily rubbed her hand all over his waist, enjoying the nice sensation of his taut and firm muscles under her palm and fingertips.
Zhou Fu clenched his jaw, his forehead breaking out in a sweat as the veins near his temples twitched. He stared at her with an impenetrable gaze and said stiffly, “Have you touched enough? If you still don’t take your hand out of my shirt, I’m going to kiss you.”
Lu Guixin pouted immediately.
Ah, I forgot that she’s not reserved at all. Having been scolded, slapped, and treated indifferently for the past few days, Zhou Fu felt, for a moment, that it was such a luxury for him to see that mischievous look of hers. He went into a trance for several seconds before chuckling to himself and taking a deep breath to calm himself down. He pressed his thumb against her red lips. “Are you not mad at me anymore?”
Lu Guixin opened her mouth and bit his fingertip in annoyance. “No, I’m still angry.”
Zhou Fu pondered for a second and then said tentatively, “I’ll work harder to appease your anger then?”
Lu Guixin thought about it for a while and lifted her chin slightly. “Fine. On the account that you let me touch you, I’ll reluctantly give you another chance.”
As she said that, she scratched his waist with her fingernails.
As if he had been electrified, Zhou Fu felt a numbing sensation running through his body, and his muscles tightened even more.
…
When Lu Guixin returned to her dorm, she received two messages from Zhou Fu.
[I’ll buy you breakfast tomorrow.
[Good night, girlfriend.]
She didn’t reply to the messages. Instead, she tossed her phone on the table and went to the bathroom. While washing her hands, she accidentally looked up and saw herself in the mirror. She realized that she was unconsciously smiling. The smile was so apparent in her reflection that it seemed a bit unfamiliar. Her eyes were twinkling with amusement, and she was in such an excellent mood that she couldn’t help but be stunned, and she stared at the mirror for a long time.
…
The next day.
At the Year One’s academic building.
The guy who always came to class the earliest saw someone in the classroom of Class Nine when he arrived at the doorway. For a moment, he thought he was dreaming when he saw that person there. “Zhou Fu.”
After putting Lu Guixin’s breakfast on her table, Zhou Fu nodded to the guy and left the classroom.
It was only after he had left for a while that the guy snapped back to his senses. He stared at the breakfast on the table and gulped in difficulty. Zhou Fu bought breakfast for Lu Guixin and even delivered it himself?
…
By the time Lu Guixin arrived at the classroom, it was already ten minutes later.
When Tian Lu saw the two sets of breakfast on the table, she said, “I can’t believe that Zhou Fu brought breakfast for me too.”
Lu Guixin showed no response to that. After untying the knot on the packaging, she saw a kraft paper note in it that read, [I’m sorry, princess.]
Zhou Fu was still working hard to earn her forgiveness.
At the bottom right corner of the note was a vivid and beautifully-drawn winter jasmine, which showed how good he was at drawing.
“What flower is that?” Tian Lu asked. She took out her phone to scan the picture and then went to find the meaning of the flower when she realized it was winter jasmine. The moment she found out its floral meaning, she immediately showed it to Lu Guixin.
The screen showed that the flower symbolized eternal love.
“Zhou Fu sure is good at this.” Tian Lu started to fangirl over him again.
Lu Guixin quietly stuffed the note into her desk and then proceeded to eat her breakfast.
Just then, her phone buzzed.
[Why didn’t you reply to the messages I sent last night?]
Lu Guixin typed a random excuse, saying that, [Phone bills are expensive. Sms’ cost money.]
The next second, her phone service provider sent a message to her. [Dear customer, you have successfully topped 1,000,000 yuan at 6.50am on X month X day, 20XX.]
Lu Guixin was speechless. What the? Which idiot topped up so much money to pay for my phone bill?
Zhou Fu sent another message. [Feel free to send as many messages as you like.]
Another message popped up a second later. [I’ll see you in an empty classroom tonight.]
Lu Guixin’s smile deepened. [Okay.]
…
At the Year Three’s academic building.
When Tian Rong went to Zhou Fu’s table to ask him a physics question, the corners of his lips twitched in amusement when he noticed the black cartoon character plaster on the back of the latter’s hand. It was clear who had bought it for him.
Zhou Fu took the initiative to ask Tian Rong this time, his voice a hint gentler than usual. “Which question do you want to ask about?”
He usually can’t be bothered to answer my questions when I try to ask him for help. He either writes the answer and tosses it to me or flips open the textbook to show me an example question before asking me to get lost and study it on my own. Now, he’s asking me first?! Speechless, Tian Rong shrank back. “Don’t behave like this, Zhou Fu. I’m scared…”
…
The next day…
Breakfast was different from the previous day, but it was still what Lu Guixin liked.
[I’m sorry, princess.]
The note read the same as before, but the drawing was a pear blossom this time.
For the next consecutive days, Tian Fu would walk Lu Guixin back to the intersection in front of the girls’ dorm after tutoring her every evening, send a message to her saying good night before he slept no matter how late it was, and deliver breakfast to her classroom every morning. The flowers he drew every day were different as well.
By the time she saw the fourth flower—which was a magnolia—she knew that he was drawing the twenty-four solar terms. Each solar term represented a flower.
Lu Guixin put the magnolia card into her bag.
Just then, the class’s art rep walked up to her and asked, “Lu Guixin, Tian Lu, do you guys want to perform for the New Year’s Day celebration?”
The New Year’s Day celebration had always been held at the Ming City Opera House, which was on a rather grand scale, and it was jointly held with Experimental High School.
“I remember it was stated in Guixin’s profile that she could sing, dance, and play the piano, right?”
“Yes,” said Lu Guixin. “You can go ask the other classmates first if they want to take part.”
The art rep said, “There are prizes to be won for performances, and everyone recommended you. You’re pretty, so we’ll be able to get more points even if you just stand on stage.”
…
That night, in an empty classroom.
Zhou Fu was marking the physics paper that Lu Guixin had just finished doing. She had scored eighty-nine marks on this one, which was a huge improvement from her usual forty to fifty marks on her last three exams. As he wrote down the solutions to the questions she had gotten wrongly, he said, “Do the exam papers properly.”
Lu Guixin put her face down on the table and asked softly, “Why are you more concerned about my results than my father?”
“You can call me Daddy then.”
Lu Guixin’s eyes curved as she looked at him and said slowly, “You want to be called Daddy?”
Zhou Fu turned his head and met her gaze with a nonchalant smirk. “Go on. I’m listening.”
Lu Guixin hooked her finger in an indication for him to come closer to her.
Zhou Fu lowered his head, putting it near her lips. As her warm, gentle breath tickled his cheek, he tightened his grip on the pen.
The next second, Lu Guixin whispered into his ear, “When I grow up, I’ll give birth to your child, and you can hear them call you Daddy everyday.”
Crack!
Lu Guixin looked toward the sound, only to see the pen in Zhou Fu’s hand shattered into pieces. Her smile deepened. “You’re that excited about it?”
Because of what she said, Zhou Fu’s ear went numb, and his heart felt like it was going to jump out of his chest. It took him a while to calm himself down. He then sat straight, changed a pen, and calmly continued to write the solutions. “Don’t say that in front of me again.”
“Why?”
“No reason.”
“There must be. Quick, tell me.” Lu Guixin tugged his sleeve.
“There isn’t any,” said Zhou Fu blandly as he focused on writing the solutions.
Lu Guixin, thus, snatched his pen away. “Tell me now.”
Zhou Fu looked at her. “You really want to know?”
“Yes.” Lu Guixin nodded.
Zhou Fu stared right into her eyes as he slowly said, “You make me want to f*ck your brains out when you say such things.”
Lu Guixin’s mind went blank as her eyes bulged wide. Her body felt like it was on fire, and her cheeks felt ridiculously hot.
The temperature in the classroom seemed to be soaring.
“Any more questions?” Zhou Fu remained pokerfaced. “If not, sit properly and focus on the questions.”
Lu Guixin obediently returned him the pen, sat properly, and then looked down at the exam paper, her eyelashes fluttering slightly.
A hint of amusement flashed in Zhou Fu’s eyes as he looked at her side profile and continued to explain the steps to her.
…
When the evening study was over, Zhou Fu walked Lu Guixin to her dorm with his bag slung over his shoulder and her bag in his hand. Upon reaching the dorm, he returned her bag to her and said, “I’ll be going to the capital to attend a competition tomorrow for the next five days. I might have to turn in my phone.”
“Oh,” said Lu Guixin. She had been behaving really obediently since what Zhou Fu said earlier. After taking her bag from him, she suddenly remembered something. “Then will you be back for the school’s New Year’s Day celebration?”
“The organizer booked an afternoon flight on the 1st,” said Zhou Fu. “Is something the matter?”
“I signed up for a performance, so I wanted you to watch it.” Lu Guixin felt a bit disappointed, but she soon regained her smile. “Never mind. I’ll get Tian Lu to record a video. You can watch it when you’re back.”
Zhou Fu nodded and unzipped his back to take out five kraft envelopes. “For the next five days.”
The last five messages of the 24 solar terms.
Lu Guixin took them and said with a smile, “I’ll be cheering you on.”
…
Over the next few days, Lu Guixin returned to her usual pattern, but she felt a bit empty for some reason. She stood at the corridor railing to take a breather while watching the students come and go. Tch, over six thousand students here in Ming City High School, and I’m feeling empty?
As usual, Zhou Fu would send her messages saying good morning and good night, and they would chat a bit.
On the night before the New Year’s Day celebration, Lu Guixin realized that she had received a message from Zhou Fu five minutes ago when she came out of the bathroom from her shower.
[Creditor: There are many food streets around Capital University, and most of them cater to spicy food. Let’s go there to eat in the future.]
Lu Guixin raised her eyebrows and smiled when she saw the message.
[Debtor: Does everything remind you about me?]
Zhou Fu could imagine the face Lu Guixin was making when she typed this message. She would be like a little fox, wagging her tail smugly.
[Creditor: Yes, I want to take you to eat whenever I see food. I’d also imagine how you would look whenever I see clothes.]
[Debtor: I’m not going home for the new year. I’ll wait in school for you.]
[Creditor: Okay.]
[Debtor: You should rest early. Good luck with the last match tomorrow. (Fireworks)]
When Lu Guixin didn’t receive a message for a minute, she went to the bathroom with her phone to blow dry her hair. While she was drying her hair, her phone vibrated three consecutive times.
[Creditor: Lu Guixin…
[Creditor: I miss you.
[Creditor: Good night.]
…
December 31st.
The New Year’s Day celebration held jointly by Ming City High School and Experimental High School was as grand as ever, and things were really lively at the Ming City Opera House. A few leaders even came.
People in gowns were walking here and there backstage, all looking exquisite in their stage makeup. When a Year Three senior walked over in her high heels and saw Lu Guixin still wearing their blue and white school uniform, she asked, “Aren’t you going to get changed, Guixin?”
Lu Guixin shook her head. “I’ll just wear this.”
The senior wanted to say that the school uniform was too plain for the stage and that she should put on some makeup—lipstick at the very least—but she instantly went speechless when a girl in an expensive custom-made gown with exquisite makeup happened to walk past them just then. Lu Guixin, even with her bare face and school uniform, looked way better than the other girl, who was dressed to the nines.
Lu Guixin had signed up to sing while playing the piano, and her performance was an interlude. Having promised to take a video for Zhou Fu, she said to Tian Lu, “Will your phone work? It’ll be pretty dark on stage. I brought a camera. Do you know how to use it?”
Tian Lu patted her chest and assured her, “Don’t worry! It’ll be as good as watching live!”
Just then, Tan Ying entered backstage, dressed in a white suit and a floral shirt. With a bouquet of flowers in one hand, he waved to Lu Guixin. “Guixin.”
When Lu Guixin saw him, she joked, “You’re all dressed-up today.”
“Handsome, right?” Tan Ying raised his eyebrows as he placed the flowers next to Li Guixin’s hand. The bouquet was meant for her.
Tian Lu felt her scalp go numb when she saw Tan Ying. If it wasn’t for his handsome face, she definitely would’ve labeled him as tasteless and cringey.
All of a sudden, Tan Ying turned to Tian Lu with narrowed eyes. “Hey, what’s with that look?”
Tian Lu changed the topic. “Are you performing too?”
“Yes. As one of the most good-looking guys in my school, I’ll be performing a dance for everyone.” Tan Ying then struck a dance pose and said to Tian Lu, “Remember to take videos of me later.”
The corners of Tian Lu’s lips twitched.
Soon, the host’s voice could be coming from outside.
Tian Lu, thus, said, “Let’s go out and watch the show.”
There were many talented art students in Ming City High School and Experimental High School, which was why their combined New Year’s Day celebration was very interesting.
Lu Guixin and Tan Ying had no objection. Thus, the three went out together.
After the host’s opening speech, the first performance came up, which was a group dance between both schools. It was a heavy metal piece, which instantly livened up the atmosphere.
Things like poetry recitation or whatnot weren’t interesting. It was the fashion show, dancing, and singing that got the crowd excited.
Lu Guixin was currently texting Zhou Fu. [It’ll be my turn soon. I’ll get Tian Lu to take a video and show it to you when you come back tomorrow. It’s just that it won’t be as good as watching me live.]
[Creditor: You want me to watch it live?]
[Debtor: Yeah, but your competition is more important.]
[Creditor: How long more before your performance starts?]
[Debtor: There are three more performances before me, so probably around twenty minutes.]
Meanwhile, Zhou Fu, after coming out of the airport, ran to the car park immediately to get his motorbike and sped all the way to Ming City Opera House. What was supposed to be a forty-minute journey ended in only eighteen minutes?
…
Soon, it was time for Lu Guixin to perform.
The stage was all dark when a beam of light suddenly shone down on the middle of the stage and illuminated Lu Guixin, who was sitting in front of a piano.
Just as she pressed down on the first key, a figure appeared at the entrance of the venue right then.
“Zhou Fu?” A Year Three student sitting in the last row was surprised to see him here, for the latter never appeared on occasions like this.
Lu Guixin’s fingers rested on the piano keys as she looked straight toward the entrance motionlessly for three seconds.
Zhou Fu was panting as he looked at Lu Guixin from across the audience.
The girl smiled, her eyes twinkling with laughter. Her beautiful face on the screen captured everyone’s attention.
Right then, she started singing and playing the piano at the same time.
“We’re too far away and too far apart.
I never tell you how much I like you.
Do you know how much I care for you?
Do you have the slightest bit of feelings for me…?”
Lu Guixin’s singing voice, demeanor, and smile were stunning. Her voice sounded a bit airy and slightly hoarse at the same time, which was like fascinating scenery.
It seemed like the entire world had gone quiet the moment she started singing. Conflicting terms such as devotion, gentleness, passion, and ruthlessness didn’t seem unfitting on her.
Zhou Fu couldn’t explain how he felt, but his heart was thumping hard, for Lu Guixin had sung this song for him.
…
When Lu Guixin went to the backstage exit after finishing her performance, Zhou Fu was already there waiting for her. He strode over to her and pulled her into his embrace, hugging her tightly as he whispered in her ear, “Yes, not just a bit.”
Lu Guixin looked up, resting her chin on his collarbone. “Why did you come back all of a sudden?”
“The competition ended, so I declined the organizer’s dinner invitation and snatched an air ticket from someone to rush here and hear your song.” Zhou Fu wrapped his arms around her tighter as if he wanted to embed her into his body.
Lu Guixin coughed from the tight embrace and said with much difficulty, “I’m going to die in your arms if you don’t let me go right now.”
Zhou Fu loosened his arms and buried his face in the crook of her neck, his slightly warm breath fanning her skin as he let out a deep chuckle a few seconds later.
Lu Guixin had never heard him laugh like that before.
When Zhou Fu realized that she was wearing her school uniform, he let her go in surprise as he recalled seeing everyone else in gowns earlier. “Why are you in your school uniform? Did you not manage to buy a suitable gown in time?”
“I wanted to wear the school uniform.” Lu Guixin smiled, her eyes forming crescents. “Because I wanted to create memories. of our school days right up to our wedding day.”
It sounded like she was certain that they would be married to each other for sure.
Zhou Fu’s heart skipped a beat as he looked at her face with deep, dark eyes. “Lu Guixin.”
She looked up and tilted her head.
“Let’s go to university together.” He placed his palm against her nape. “Go sign up for the university entrance exams next April, okay?”
For a moment, Lu Guixin thought that she’d misheard him. “You want me to sign up for the university entrance exams?”
Zhou Fu nodded. “I’ll help you to get into university.”
“And how are you going to do that?” Lu Guixin didn’t understand what he was talking about.
Zhou Fu patted her head. “You’ll know soon enough. No need to get stressed out about it. Just do it for fun. I’ll continue to help you with your foundation next semester. It won’t affect your choice of major.”
Zhou Fu then held her hand and led her out of the opera house.
“Wait,” said Lu Guixin. “The flowers Tan Ying gave me are still backstage. I’ll go get them.”
As she said that, she tried to remove her hand from his, but it was to no avail. He held onto her hand even tighter, and he continued walking forward with an arm around her shoulder.
“I’m starving. I haven’t had my dinner,” said Zhou Fu expressionlessly. “I’ll buy flowers for you.”
…
After New Year’s Day.
Lu Guixin could distinctively feel that the pressure Zhou Fu was giving her had tripled. He made her study whenever she had the time. Even when they were eating together, he would be holding an English vocabulary book and making her memorize vocabulary. In between lessons, he would send a science question and make her read the solution. She also wasn’t allowed to go back to her dorm during lunch break.
Zhou Fu ran over to the Year One side without any concern and sat in Tian Lu’s seat with the Year Three syllabus with him, teaching Lu Guixin all the basic key points and making her do practice questions.
Many people came over to ask Lu Guixin how much they’d have to pay to get Zhou Fu to tutor them.
Lu Guixin had to prepare for her own exams while being forced to learn the Year Three syllabus.
After two weeks of high intensive learning, she tossed her pen aside and slumped on the table while complaining, “I’ll die a sudden death. I’m really exhausted. I don’t want to study anymore. Whoever likes studying can go study all they want. I’m stupid. I’m bad at studying. I’m hopeless. I give up. Please accept the fact that I’m a normal and ordinary student.”
Actually, she was seriously considering whether she should drop her act now.
Zhou Fu took out a milk candy from his pocket, took it out from its packaging, and shoved it into her mouth. “Other people will work hard when given a bit of pressure, but you give up just like that?”
“It’s no use trying to provoke me.” Lu Guixin refused to budge even after accepting his candy. In the act of protest, she turned her head away. Never had she looked forward to the winter break before? She was so eager to leave that she headed back to the capital with her luggage without so much of a head turn on the very day her exams ended.
“Uncle Lu Qi.” Lu Guixin greeted Lu Qi, who had come to pick her up, upon getting into the car.
Lu Qi was surprised to see how tired Lu Guixin looked. “W-what’s wrong with you?”
Lu Guixin weakly answered, “I’m stressed out from studying. I’m going to take a nap, Uncle Lu Qi.”
Lu Qi gaped. She must be joking, right…?
Just then, Lu Guixin’s phone rang. It was a call from Zhou Fu.
Lu Guixin closed her eyes and put on her earphones.
“Where are you?”
“I just arrived,” replied Lu Guixin.
Knowing that she had been truly exhausted lately, Zhou Fu said, “Get some good rest. I’ll make a study plan for you and then send the practice exam papers and key learning points to you the day after. You can print them out yourself.”
Lu Guixin knew that Zhou Fu felt that she was terrible at studying, which was why he was sparing no effort in helping her to improve her results so that she could go to university with him. Isn’t he tired from staying up late every night to help me organize the study materials?!
Just before ending the call, Zhou Fu added, “Lu Guixin, if you like me, then do your best to study.”
Lu Guixin was speechless. Is he trying to pressure me now?
…
Lu Manor.
There were about ten days until the Lunar New Year. Hence, Lu Jilai, Lu Jixing, and even He Qingyue were around.
Upon seeing his younger sister, Lu Jixing said, “What the? Why do you look so drained? You look like you just came from the slum.”
There was a complicated look on He Qingyue’s face as well. “That’s how I looked after training at Jijing Island for six months. Is it that stressful at Ming City High School?”
Although Lu Guixin was dog-tired, she didn’t forget to hug He Qingyue, who she hadn’t met in a long time, before saying, “I’m going to take a nap. Let’s talk when I wake up.”
She then waved her hand and headed upstairs.
Lu Jilai narrowed his eyes slightly before giving He Qingyue a look.
He Qingyue went up and headed to Lu Guixin’s room. When she opened the door, she found the latter lying on the bed without changing her clothes.
“Guixin.” He Qingyue sat at the bedside and put her atop her knee. “What happened to you?”
Lu Guixin opened her eyes and said, “I’ll tell you, but you have to keep it a secret.”
He Qingyue nodded.
Lu Guixin, thus, told her about how she was forced to study.
After hearing everything, He Qingyue clicked her tongue and said teasingly, “What a sweet burden you have.”
Lu Guixin sighed. “I currently have a few tricky cases on hand, so I can only sleep for four hours every day at most. I’m seriously deprived of sleep.”
He Qingyue went to the wardrobe and got a set of home clothes for Lu Guixin. She passed it to the latter and lifted her chin in an indication for her to get changed. She then said, “Good character, intelligent, and wants you to become better even after knowing that your result isn’t good.”
Lu Guixin sat up. “Ten million yuan is enough for an ordinary person to spend for a lifetime, yet he gave me that money and wants me to become a better person.”
“I heard about his background from your brother.” He Qingyue went silent for a moment. “Psychologically speaking, he probably only believes that one can only rely on themselves since his parents died so suddenly and he was forced by circumstances to be independent at a young age. He must really like you, or he’s afraid that something might happen to him in the future. He wants you to live well even when he isn’t around.”
“I guess so.” Lu Guixin became a little more awake at the thought of Zhou Fu. Pursing her lips, she clutched her pajamas and said seriously all of a sudden, “Qingyue, I want him to know that I’m good and that I’ll go to university with him.”
He Qingyue looked at her. “Can I ask what you like about him?”
Lu Guixin looked down slightly before whispering, “Actually, you guys know, right?”
He Qingyue remained silent.
Lu Guixin continued, “My personality is no good at all. On top of that, I have a foul temper and a strong possessive streak. I’ll get my hands on anything I want. I want to see Zhou Fu make an exception for me and go crazy over me. I want to be the only one he sees. And I saw all that in him.”
She sounded so gentle and mild that it seemed like someone else had said those words instead. It was very jarring.
“At first, I did find him interesting and wanted to have fun with him.” Lu Guixin looked at He Qingyue while sitting in a cross-legged position. “It is quite interesting when he goes crazy.”
He Qingyue burst out laughing. “And how is that so? Did he force a kiss on you or force himself on you?”
“He said I’m too young, and that we’ll have to wait until I’m older.” Lu Guixin’s eyes twinkled with amusement at the mention of Zhou Fu.
He Qingyue raised her eyebrows. “He’s humane, at least.”
As Lu Guixin removed her top and changed into her pajamas, He Qingyue stared at her chest. “Your boobs are so small, yet you managed to find yourself a boyfriend.”
Lu Guixin looked down at her own chest and then at He Qingyue’s chest. “They are indeed a bit small.”
He Qingyue made a grab at Lu Guixin’s chest. “Look, I can easily grab them with one hand.
Lu Guixin pursed her lips. “Then once I’m eighteen, I’ll get him to massage my breasts for me every day. Blood circulation will help them grow bigger.”
He Qingyue fell backward on the bed from laughing.
Lu Guixin looked at her chest. “Qingyue, are your boobs natural or did they grow bigger from all the massages my big brother gave them?”
He Qingyue’s lips twitched. “Can Zhou Fu stand the way you talk?”
“I don’t think so.” Lu Guixin was still staring at her own chest. “He told me that he wants to f*ck my brains out when I say such things.”
He Qingyue’s cheeks hurt from all the laughing. “Seriously, both of you are the same.”
Lu Guixin sighed and then grabbed her own boobs while showing a rare sad expression for once. “Will it be too late by the time I turn 18? Should I start massaging them on my own and increase my protein intake?”
…
News of Lu Guixin’s return spread quickly. Several groups of people, including Lu Zhan, Ye Junci, He Yidu, Lin Shuang, Ghost, Responsive Dragon, and Flying Serpent, showed up at Lu Manor the next morning. Everyone gathered there as the kids were on break now.
Everyone knew about Lu Guixin making it on the trending list with Tan Ying. Hence, Qin Fang asked, “Guixin, that young guy from the Tan family is barely worthy of you. So, is the news true or false?”
Even though the matter had been clarified, he still wanted to hear it from Lu Guixin herself.
But before Lu Guixin, who was sitting quietly at the side, could say anything, Lu Chengzhou said while holding a cup of tea, “My daughter is still young. Don’t talk nonsense in front of her.”
Gu Mang was speechless at that.
Lu Guixin obediently answered, “There’s nothing between Tan Ying and me, Uncle Qin.”
“What about Zhou Fu?” Qin Fang asked persistently. “I heard this name, too.” And he’s even from The Gray Building.
Lu Guixin gently said, “Dad says I’m still young, so you shouldn’t be talking about this with me.”
The corners of Qin Fang’s lips twitched.
It was only then that Lu Chengzhou’s poker face revealed some warmth. He slowly said, “My daughter is so pretty. It’s not that strange for her to have several rumors.”
The others nodded in agreement.
Responsive Dragon said, “Besides, how can things progress so quickly? Guixin isn’t such an easy girl. One semester isn’t enough for feelings to develop.”
Fifth Sister looked at Gu Mang. “The three grades in Ming City High School are all separated, right?”
Gu Mang hummed a lackadaisical response.
Responsive Dragon placed his arms on the armrest. “I’ve looked into it. It’s not easy for students of different grades to meet each other. They even have staggered meal times.”
He then shrugged his shoulders. “That makes it all the more difficult for a Year Three student and a Year One student to meet.”
Lu Guixin didn’t respond as everyone here was far more meticulous than her. She was no match for them, so it was better for her to keep quiet. At least she won’t accidentally let anything slip.
Ghost added, “Use your brains, guys. If Guixin really is in a relationship, why would she come back as soon as her break starts? She would’ve spent her break in Ming City having fun with Zhou Fu. However, she came back as soon as her exams ended.”
Lin Shuang raised her eyebrows. “That makes sense.”
Everyone believed that explanation, and He Qingyue couldn’t believe how lucky Lu Guixin was.
Ghost then continued, “People in a relationships tend to look radiant, have rosy cheeks, and smile to themselves all the time. Look at how tired Guixin is. Does she look like someone in love?”
Lu Guixin and He Qingyue were speechless, as were Lu Jilai and Lu Jixing, who knew what was going on. They couldn’t believe how far the truth was.
Lu Chengzhou looked at his daughter. “How did your exams go?”
“Okay, I guess. I should be able to pass.”
Lu Zhan let out a long sigh upon hearing that, although he quickly said after that, “I’m not sighing at your results. I didn’t sleep well last night.”
“Mm,” Lu Guixin responded obediently.
…
On the third morning of the winter break, a bunch of luxury goods, including clothes, jewelry, and watches, was sent to the Lu Manor again.
Lu Guixin put them all away in her spacious dressing room on her own. There was a rather nice-looking black metal mechanical watch among the gifts, which would suit Zhou Fu very well and would make a perfect new year gift. After taking a look at the brand, Lu Guixin contacted the brand and asked them to send another piece over.
When she came out of her dressing room, she picked a bracelet and put it on.
After lunch, she received an email from Zhou Fu containing the materials he had put together for her. He even sent a message on WeChat, saying, [The timetable is included as well. Do two sets of exam papers every day.]
[Debtor: Okay.]
[Creditor: Why did you go back so early?]
[Debtor: Thank goodness I did.]
[Creditor: Is studying so scary? I wanted to take you out to wind down for a few days.]
[Debtor: I’ll tell you in the future.]
Lu Guixin lay sprawled on the bed with a leg bent and the other leg placed across her knee as she typed, [How long is your winter break?]
[Creditor: Ten days.]
[Debtor: How do you plan to spend it? Are you going to study?]
[Creditor: I’ll spend two days putting together a study plan for the next semester for you. After that, I have something to do outside Ming City.]
Lu Guixin wanted to ask him if he was going to celebrate the lunar new year, but she deleted the message as soon as she typed it out.
[Debtor: I’ll find a way to sneak out on new year’s day. I want to spend the lunar new year with you.]
[Creditor: Lu Guixin, stay where you are. Don’t run around.]
Lu Guixin stared at the ceiling while lying on her bed.
It was always very crowded and lively at the Lu Manor during the Lunar New Year. They would set off fireworks, wish each other a Happy New Year, get red envelopes, play mahjong, and eat barbecue and hotpot. Zhou Fu, however, was alone, and it had been that way for him for many years.
I think I really like Zhou Fu a lot. The thought of him spending the Lunar New Year alone makes me rather sad, and I feel like crying. I’ve never felt this way before. Lu Guixin then picked up her phone again and typed, [I want to celebrate the new year with you. They all have company. I want to accompany you.]
The comment ‘Typing…’ was seen appearing and disappearing repeatedly, but there was no response from Zhou Fu for a while. Eventually, he sent a message, saying, [Be good. Don’t run around.]
Lu Guixin put down her phone.
…
He Qingyue had been coming over to the Lu Manor very frequently lately. Every day, the first thing she saw Lu Guixin do when she woke up was a set of exam papers. Her answers were all nearly written at that. The latter would do another set in the afternoon and then take a photo of it to send over to Zhou Fu.
He Qingyue waited for Lu Guixin to finish chatting with Zhou Fu before asking, “Guixin, shall we go cut our hair?”
It was two days away from Lunar New Year.
While organizing her study materials on her desk, Lu Guixin said, “I want to keep my hair long, but I can go with you if you want.”
He Qingyue walked over and ruffled Lu Guixin’s hair. “Your family genes sure are good. Even the quality of your hair is better than others.”
Lu Guixin smiled and quietly said, “Go give birth to a child with my brother. Your body constitution will improve.”
He Qingyue secretly replied, “Haha, I’ll consider.”
When they went downstairs, they found Lu Jilai and Lu Jixing already waiting for them in the living room. The four then drove over to Xiao Han’s shop.
When they entered the shop, a popular starlet happened to be making her way out of the shop under the escort of one of the staff there. The starlet stopped in her tracks when she saw them, and she stared fixedly at them. She hadn’t seen anyone from the showbiz industry as good-looking as them.
She was just about to ask the stylist next to her who they were when she saw the boss, Xiao Han, walk over and take them to the VIP room upstairs. She didn’t dare ask her question after that. There were many influential people in the capital, and given how the four looked, she was certain that they weren’t from the ordinary wealthy family.
While Lu Jilai, Lu Jixing, and He Qingyue were having their haircuts, Lu Guixin snuggled on the sofa and messaged Zhou Fu. [Does your holiday start this afternoon?]
[Creditor: Yes.]
She soon received another message from him.
[Creditor: Stay at home. Don’t run around.]
Lu Guixin pouted. {Why won’t you let me go look for you? I’ll just have a meal with you and then go home.]
When Lu Jixing noticed Lu Guixin’s glum expression in the mirror, he turned his head back to look at her. “Lu Guixin, who upset you?”
Just then, she received a message from Zhou Fu.
[Creditor: I’ll video call on the eve. I’ll take it that you’ve accompanied me.]
A smile appeared on Lu Guixin’s face once more. Without even lifting her head, she said to her brother, “Nobody. I’m okay.”
She then replied to Zhou Fu, [Okay.]
Lu Jixing rolled his eyes as he muttered under his breath, “I wonder what Zhou Fu’s done to mesmerize you.”
He Qingyue burst out laughing when she heard that. “You’ve all met him. I was in training at the time, so I didn’t get to meet him. Is he really handsome?”
“Of course.” Lu Guixin lifted her face proudly. “He’s more handsome than my brothers at least.”
Lu Jixing took out a lighter from his pocket and threw it at her.
Lu Guixin steadily caught the lighter in her hand, spun it around, and flicked it on.
…
On Lunar New Year’s eve.
As usual, everyone came over to the Lu Manor after having their reunion dinner with the elders in their respective families.
Gu Si, Gu Hui, and Tang Yi returned from Jijing Island, accompanied by Meng Jinyang and Jiang Shenyuan.
Gu Hui was next to Gu Si, who was holding Tang Yi’s hand, as the trio made their way over to Gu Mang and Lu Chengzhou. “Sis, bro-in-law.”
“Gu Mang.” It had been some time since Meng Jinyang last saw Gu Mang, so she was very happy to meet her again.
Lu Chengzhou was holding Gu Mang’s hand as they squeezed together in a single sofa chair.
The moment Meng Jinyang walked over, Gu Mang stood up right away and removed her hand from Lu Chengzhou’s to hug the former’s shoulder and chat with her.
While Lu Chengzhou was upset by the loss of physical contact with his wife, Jiang Shenyuan passed him a wine glass. “Don’t be a third wheel. The girls want to catch up with each other.”
Lu Chengzhou expressionlessly said, “That’s my wife.”
Jiang Shenyuan sat down and clicked his wine glass against Lu Chengzhou’s.
After everyone greeted each other, they sent each other e-red packets and then proceeded to grill meat and set off fireworks.
“Uncle Gu Si, Aunt Tang Yi, Uncle Gu Hui,” Lu Guixin greeted.
Tang Yi’s ears went red. “Don’t give me names, Guixin. I’m not Gu Si’s wife.”
Gu Si, however, gave two bank cards to Lu Guixin while arrogantly saying, “She’s your aunt-in-law. Call her that every time you see her.”
Lu Guixin held back her laughter as she received her “red packets” from Gu Si. “Okay, Uncle.”
As Tang Yi lifted her leg to kick Gu Si, he cried out in exaggeration, “It’s New Year. Be gentler with me.”
Just then, Lu Jilai, Lu Jixing, and He Qingyue all came over.
Gu Si, Tang Yi, and Gu Hui thus gave them a red packet each.
The younger ones said in unison, “Thank you, Uncle Gu Si, Aunt Tang Yi, Uncle Gu Hui.”
While Tang Yi was rendered speechless, Gu Si became all the more arrogant.
Gu Mang, Lin Shuang, and Ghost clicked glasses with each other. They then pulled Meng Jinyang away for a game of mahjong while Lu Chengzhou, He Yidu, Qin Fang, Jiang Shenyuan, and the others sat next to them and played cards.
The Lu Manor was filled with laughter and joy as fireworks exploded in the air, illuminating the entire sky.
Just then, Lu Guixin’s phone vibrated. She received a WeChat notification of Zhou Fu transferring two hundred thousand yuan to her, along with a Happy Lunar New Year Eve message.
Lu Guixin smiled. Two hundred thousand yuan was the maximum daily transfer limit.
She then sent two messages in a row.
[Happy Lunar New Year, Zhou Fu.
[I bought a New Year’s gift for you. I’ll pass it to you when school reopens.]
[Creditor: Okay. Thank you, my girlfriend.]
Lu Guixin walked over to the floor-to ceiling window with her phone and then proceeded to video call Zhou Fu.
The call connected almost immediately, and Zhou Fu’s face appeared on her phone’s screen.
She happily greeted him, “Happy Lunar New Year.”
Zhou Fu went into a slight trance as he looked at Lu Guixin.
Her fringe had grown longer and was parted to the sides, revealing her fair and clear forehead. Her hair was done up in two twist braids, each secured with a red hair tie at the end. Her vintage red turtleneck sweater formed a stark contrast with her fair skin.
Zhou Fu was suddenly reminded of the saying: love makes one radiant. Lu Guixin was so beautiful that everyone who saw her would be stunned by her beauty, and that included him.
He, on the other hand, was wearing a black windbreaker as usual. His hair was cut short, making him look sharper.
Lu Guixin pulled her phone further from her to show him her outfit. “One of my friends gave me this. Do I look good in it?”
On the day He Qingyue had her haircut, she bought this outfit for Lu Guixin while they were out shopping as she thought that the latter would look good in it.
Zhou Fu smiled, his eyes crinkling as he gently said, “Yes.”
Lu Guixin frowned when she heard his voice. “Are you sick? Why is your voice hoarse?”
“I’m fine.”
Lu Guixin put her phone closer to her face. “Come closer.”
Although Zhou Fu didn’t know what she wanted to do, he obediently moved his phone closer to his face.
After carefully examining every inch of his face, Lu Guixin questioned him with a pout, “Have you been frequently staying up late in the night?”
Zhou Fu thought she was asking this because she’d noticed his bloodshot eyes. He pinched the corner of an eye. “Just last night.”
Lu Guixin didn’t believe him. It was clear that he had been staying up late for about two weeks.
Ever since she was four, she had learned how to make a diagnosis just by looking at one’s face and reading countless patients’ cases when she was in her mother’s lab. There was no way this symptom would’ve gone past her notice.
He had lost some weight, and his sore throat was due to him staying up late for many nights in a row. He was suffering from yin deficiency, which was why he displayed symptoms of heat.
Lu Guixin stared at the two sides of his nose bridge, but she couldn’t see clearly due to the dim lighting on what seemed to be a balcony. “Can you move to somewhere brighter?”
Zhou Fu reached out and turned on the balcony’s lights. “Better?”
Lu Guixin noticed that the right side of his nose bridge was a bit reddish, and that made her frown deepen. “You’re running a fever.”
Zhou Fu raised his eyebrows in surprise when he heard that. “How did you know that?”
Lu Guixin pursed her lips. “Have you taken any medicine?”
Upon realizing that she seemed to be a bit angry, he answered, “Yes.”
He didn’t evade her stare as if that could prove what he said.
“You didn’t.” Lu Guixin mercilessly exposed him and then looked down at her phone. “Give me your address. I’ll have the medicine delivered to you.”
Zhou Fu didn’t say anything, and he remained quiet even when Lu Guixin was done selecting some effective western medicine and was at the stage of filling out the address. She looked up, not bothering to ask him for his address anymore. “I’ll ask Tian Rong instead.”
Only then did Zhou Fu say, “I’m not in Ming City.”
That reminded Lu Guixin of the message he had sent to her previously. He did mention that he had something to do outside Ming City.
She felt really helpless all of a sudden. She took a deep breath before saying in a slightly sobbing voice, which she certainly didn’t expect, “Can’t you just take good care of yourself?”
Zhou Fu panicked upon seeing her moist and reddish eyes, and his throat constricted. “I’ll go buy some medicine now.”
The camera went out of focus for a while before an iconic skyscraper appeared on the camera. The red words on the building were very striking—Yu Group’s Private Hospital.
Lu Guixin’s eyes widened. “Are you in the capital right now?”
Yu Group’s Private Hospital was only opened in the capital.
Zhou Fu turned around and saw the building in the background.
“I’ll go look for you.” After saying that, Lu Guixin immediately ended the video call.
Zhou Fu, who hadn’t said finished his piece, pursed his lips and called back right away, but she didn’t pick up the call.
…
Lu Guixin went straight to Gu Hui and pulled him aside. “Uncle, can you do me a favor and take me to the North Shore District?”
Upon seeing her desperate look, Gu Hui asked, “What happened?”
Lu Guixin pursed her lips. “Zhou Fu’s there. I want to go look for him.”
They had seen Zhou Fu’s background information before, so they knew that he was an orphan. He couldn’t have possibly come to the capital to visit his relatives.
Lu Guixin looked down with misty eyes. “He’s… probably here to spend the New Year with me.”
“Then why didn’t he come look for you?” Gu Hui couldn’t understand it.
Lu Guixin’s eyes turned red. “He probably thinks that being in the same city and breathing the same air is the same as spending the New Year together. I was the one who pestered him to spend the New Year together.”
Gu Hui looked at her.
“A week ago, he told me that he had something to do outside Ming City, but he suddenly showed up here,” said Lu Guixin slowly. “He’s here to spend the New Year being in the same city as me.”
“Alright. Calm down,” Gu Hui patiently coaxed her, his iciness melting a little as he whispered, “I’ll take you there.”
Lu Guixin nodded.
…
At the North Shore District.
Even before the car reached the entrance of the district, Lu Guixin, who sat in the passenger seat, could see Zhou Fu standing there.
It was almost midnight soon, and there was nobody at the entrance but a lone tall figure.
Zhou Fu didn’t know what Lu Guixin meant by she was going to look for him, nor did he know how she was going to find him. Hence, after she ended the video call, he went straight to wait for her at the entrance.
Lu Guixin pushed open the door, got out of the car with the medicine she bought on her way here, and then ran straight towards Zhou Fu.
The moment Zhou Fu saw her get out of the car, he ran over to her as well.
Gu Hui sat in the car with a black mask on his face and his fair wrists resting atop the steering wheel while he looked coldly at the couple.
Lu Guixin handed the medicine to Zhou Fu. “You’ll recover in two days after taking the medicine.”
Zhou Fu’s eyes grew darker and darker in the night. It was hard to tell how he was feeling, but he kept staring at Lu Guixin’s face.
When he didn’t take medicine from her, Lu Guixin pushed it to him. “You have to eat medicine when you’re sick. There’s no need to resist.”
Just then, colorful fireworks shot up to the sky with a bang and illuminated their surroundings, which allowed Lu Guixin to get a clear look at his face. She noticed that his eyes were slightly watery.
All of a sudden, he took her into his arms and hugged her tightly. “Happy Lunar New Year, Lu Guixin.”
Lu Guixin smiled as she wrapped her arms around his waist. “Happy Lunar New Year. I’m really happy that you came to spend the new year with me.”
Across the road was a van. Gu Si, Tang Yi, Lu Jilai, He Qingyue, and Lu Jixing were all sitting in it, watching the couple hug each other under the fireworks-filled sky.
As the fireworks grew softer, their surroundings grew dimmer as well.
Zhou Fu released Lu Guixin and took the medicine from her. “I’ll take it when I go back. You should go home now.”
Lu Guixin nodded and then took out all the milk candies and chocolates from her coat pocket to pass to him. “These are also for you.”
Zhou Fu chuckled softly as he felt his eyes turn moist. He patted her head, took the sweets from her, and then placed them in the bag with the medicine.
Lu Guixin then took out a black watch from her other pocket. “The box’s a bit too big for my pocket. Here’s your New Year gift.”
Zhou Fu took the watch from her and wore it right away to show it to her.
Lu Guixin praised, “I have a good eye. Your hands are really pretty.”
Zhou Fu felt as if hot blood was flowing through his rapidly beating heart.
Lu Guixin looked up at him and gently said, “I’ll get going then.”
Zhou Fu nodded, his eyes fixed on her.
Lu Guixin repeatedly turned her head back with every few steps she took towards the car.
Zhou Fu was still standing at the entrance, his clothes fluttering slightly to the side from the frigid wind.
Lu Guixin inhaled deeply and looked away to put on her seatbelt. She then said to Gu Hui, “We can go back now.”
Gu Hui thus started the car engine and drove away.
When Zhou Fu saw the car’s license plate, he wanted to run a check on it, but he eventually decided against it. From the corners of his eyes, he spotted a van on the opposite side of the road, and he looked at it coldly.
He Qingyue raised her eyebrows. “He’s quite sharp.”
“He fights well, too,” Lu Jilai added.
He Qingyue was surprised to hear an affirmation coming from Lu Jilai as it meant that Zhou Fu was really good at fighting.
…
Lu Manor.
The moment Gu Hui’s car stopped, Gu Si’s car stopped right beside it.
When Lu Guixin got out of the car, she asked He Qingyue, “Zhou Fu’s handsome, right? Isn’t he much more good-looking than my brother?”
He Qingyue agreed. “I can only say your brother isn’t ugly. He’s nothing compared to Zhou F—”
Lu Jilai hooked his arm around He Qingyue’s neck and walked forward. “What did you say?”
The moment they reached the living room, He Yidu’s gentlemanly voice rang out, rendering Lu Jilai’s scalp numb. “Lu Suiyi, are you bullying my daughter?”
Lu Jilai hurriedly let go of He Qingyue and put his hands up in surrender. “No, Godfather. We were just fooling around.”
While throwing out a ninety-thousand mahjong tile, Lin Shuang noticed that the group who had gone missing just now was back. “Where did you guys go just now?”
Lu Jilai answered, “We went to see the fireworks.”
Gu Mang looked sideways, her gaze landing on her daughter’s face. She looked at her for a couple of seconds before retracting her gaze and continuing to play mahjong.
…
Gu Si, Gu Hui, and the others went back to Jijing Island the next day, while Lu Jilai and Lu Jixing went back to Red Flame on the second day of the Lunar New Year.
Gu Mang and Lu Chengzhou brought Lu Guixin back to Royal Garden. While Gu Mang spent her entire time in the medical research institute, Lu Chengzhou was wither in Red Scorpion or No. 14 Research Center.
Lu Guixin stayed at Royal Garden until two days before school reopened, then took her luggage and went back to Ming City High School.
The Year Threes had started school long ago.
Time seemed to pass really fast for this semester with the day to the university entrance exams drawing closer and closer.
As usual, Zhou Fu tutored Lu Guixin every day.
In April, he helped her sign up for the university entrance exams. Only Principal Lin and Mr. Dong knew about this.
On the last weekend of May, the Year Threes were on break.
Zhou Fu, Lu Guixin, Tian Rong, and the others were having dinner together when a guy friend of theirs asked, “Zhou Fu, what’s Guixin going to do after your university entrance exams? She’s only a Year One.”
Zhou Fu picked a piece of meat for Lu Guixin. “She’s also taking the exams.”
Everyone at the table looked up in shock.
Tian Lu looked at Lu Guixin uncertainly. “You’re also taking the university entrance exams?”
“Yes.” Lu Guixin nodded.
Another guy laughed. “That explains why Zhou Fu’s been tutoring her since last semester. So, he’s helping her to pass the exams.”
Tian Rong asked, “Which university do you want to go to, Guixin?”
Lu Guixin sipped on her cup of cola and said gently, “The same university Zhou Fu’s going.”
“He’s going to either Capital University or one of the Ivy League universities. He may even be poached by people from Jijing Island. Why don’t you set your goal lower? Even with Zhou Fu’s help, it’ll be hard for you to enter any of those universities with your grades,” said Tian Rong with a complicated look.
“Yeah, that’s right. You need talent to get into those famous universities. Pure hard work might not be enough even with early education.”
Lu Guixin licked her lips, her eyes sparkled innocently. “Is it really that hard?”
Everyone, except Zhou Fu, nodded their heads.
“You should think carefully. Being in the same city as him is already good enough,” Tian Rong advised her sincerely. “If you can get into one of the top local universities, I’ll see you as a goddess with both brains and looks!” Only a genius is able to take the university entrance exams and get into a top university just after studying one year of high school!
…
7 June marked the start of the university entrance exams. All the online search terms was related to it.
On the morning of Day One, the language exams dominated the trending list. Then, when afternoon came around, people were moaning about the mathematics exam online.
The comment section about General Science was filled with complaints the next morning. While the English exam dominated half of the trending list in the afternoon, the other half was about the end of the university entrance exams.
Except for certain students, the university entrance exams had come to an end. Cheers could be heard from outside the exam venues.
Zhou Fu and Lu Guixin took their exams in Experimental High School, with the former at the Year One’s building and the latter at the Year Two’s building.
Zhou Fu, who had turned in his papers early, had planned to wait for Lu Guixin downstairs, but they ended up coming out of their respective buildings at the same time.
“What do you want to eat?” Zhou Fu took Lu Guixin’s hand in his while he raised his other hand to act as a sun shield for her.
Lu Guixin turned her head, raising it to look at him with a smile. “Why aren’t you asking me about why I turned in my papers early?”
“I don’t have much expectations about your grades, anyway.”
“Oh… Then what if I can’t get into Capital University?”
Zhou Fu then said half-jokingly, “I’ll ask them if my girlfriend can come with me so that she can stay in my dorm and do the housework for me.”
Lu Guixin crinkled her nose and huffed, “How can a princess do housework? Those are chores for the men!”
Zhou Fu let out a deep throaty laugh.
…
While they were waiting for the university entrance exams’ results, Zhou Fu had something on and had to leave Ming City for a bit.
Not many people knew about Lu Guixin’s participation in the university entrance exams, so she went back to Ming City High School and attended lessons as usual after her exams.
According to Tian Rong, many famous international universities had called Ming City High School in hopes of recruiting Zhou Fu as their student. The reason they contacted the school was that they couldn’t reach Zhou Fu.
Lu Guixin couldn’t reach him, either.
Soon, the day when the university entrance exams’ results would be released had arrived.
