Chapter 239: The Three Hundred Forces Grand Tournament (Part 3)
After a long journey, Lu Tianyuan's voice echoed within their minds.
"We've arrived."
Lu Xunxian slowly opened his eyes and let out a long breath.
"As expected, trying to grow stronger in a mere fifteen days was nothing but a pipe dream."
Lu Xunxian thought to himself.
Perhaps because Feng Qingyu had hit a bottleneck on her end, Lu Xunxian's own cultivation had stagnated in tandem.
But that was to be expected. At the Mid Dao Venerable Realm, he already stood near the apex of the cultivation pyramid. Hoping for any improvement in a mere half a month was unrealistic.
Stepping out of his room, Lu Fenggu emerged from a neighboring one. His aura remained at the Peak Immortal Venerable Realm.
After all, not everyone had cheat codes like Lu Xunxian.
Seeing Lu Fenggu's dejected expression, Lu Xunxian thought for a moment, then took the initiative to speak.
"If I'm not mistaken, you've been cultivating the Law of Karma?"
Lu Fenggu's eyes lit up instantly, and he turned to Lu Xunxian, nodding eagerly.
"That's right! I'm cultivating the Law of Karma. Why--do you have any advice, Brother Xuanxian?"
"Advice might be a strong word. I've dabbled somewhat in the Law of Karma myself. Here's a bit of my personal insight--hopefully it'll be of some use to you."
The main reason Lu Xunxian offered was that he could tell Lu Fenggu was a genuine person--first-rate friend material. That was the only reason he was willing to help.
Had it been anyone else, he wouldn't have bothered.
Lu Fenggu had assumed the insights Lu Xunxian shared would be fairly ordinary, since Lu Xunxian didn't seem like someone who cultivated the Law of Karma.
But the moment he felt the sheer purity of those insights, Lu Fenggu's breathing quickened and he turned to Lu Xunxian with barely contained excitement.
"Brother Xuanxian, you must also cultivate the Law of Karma, right? Otherwise, how could your comprehension of it possibly be this profound?"
Lu Fenggu could sense that Lu Xunxian's insights into the Law of Karma far surpassed his own--at minimum, they were at the Immortal Emperor level of comprehension.
Lu Xunxian considered for a moment, then answered.
"Yes, the Law of Karma is indeed one of the laws I cultivate."
Lu Fenggu immediately felt reassured. But just as he was about to say something more, he froze, then gulped and spoke in disbelief.
"One of? Brother Lu, you cultivate other laws as well?"
Lu Xunxian gave him an odd look. "Isn't that perfectly normal? Who says an Immortal Emperor can only cultivate a single law?"
Lu Fenggu fell silent. After a long pause, he muttered weakly.
"I suppose you're right."
But internally, Lu Xunxian's monstrousness had just risen another notch in his estimation.
It was commonly known that reaching the Dao Practitioner Realm required comprehending the Three Thousand Laws. In practice, however, most cultivators only began working on additional laws after reaching the Peak of the Immortal Emperor Realm.
Once a single law was cultivated to the Peak Immortal Emperor level, comprehending other laws afterward would save considerably more time and effort, since the Three Thousand Laws formed an interconnected whole.
So it was exceedingly rare to see someone like Lu Xunxian simultaneously cultivating multiple laws.
While this approach would make one overwhelmingly dominant among peers of the same Immortal Emperor tier, it also demanded far more mental energy.
He simply hadn't expected Lu Xunxian to be monstrous to this extent. That was all.
And most critically, Lu Xunxian had said the Law of Karma was merely one of the laws he cultivated. This meant there was no telling how many other laws he'd mastered.
With that thought, Lu Fenggu's admiration for Lu Xunxian soared to new heights.
Just then, Lu Xunxian detected a deeply malicious gaze boring into him.
He paid it no mind. Lu Zhengfeng, nothing more.
He'd deal with him once they were inside the Ghost Realm.
As the Dao Vessel gradually slowed to a halt, a tremendous wave of cold washed over them. Beyond the vessel, an enormous and utterly pitch-black world loomed before their eyes.
It was the Ghost Realm--one of the five great worlds.
Looking at the space around the Ghost Realm, several colossal Dao Vessels had already gathered.
But Lu Xunxian's attention was drawn to one in particular. Carved upon its hull was a single, massive character: Wang.
Following Lu Xunxian's line of sight, Lu Fenggu's expression turned solemn.
"That's the Wang Family. The strongest force in the Dao Realm. Even our Lu Family doesn't dare provoke them too much."
"I know."
Lu Xunxian nodded, though inwardly, he and the Wang Family were already as incompatible as fire and water. A confrontation was inevitable.
Looking around further, seven other Dao Vessels hovered near the Lu Family's, each bearing the character "Lu"--the other seven branches.
Upon detecting Lu Xuanyuan's aura among them, Lu Xunxian produced a mask and disguised himself.
Nearby, Lu Zhengfeng sneered at the sight. "What's the matter--too ugly to show your face? Need a mask?"
"Shut it. My Brother Xuanxian is just worried his peerless looks might cause the other factions' disciples to faint dead away. If you've got a problem with it, take it up with him first."
From the last confrontation, Lu Fenggu could tell Lu Zhengfeng and Lu Xunxian didn't get along.
But so what? He'd been fed up with Lu Zhengfeng for a long time. If a dispute arose between Lu Xunxian and Lu Zhengfeng, he'd naturally side with Lu Xunxian.
Especially since Lu Xunxian had just given him Immortal Emperor-level insights into the Law of Karma.
Lu Zhengfeng's expression soured.
"Lu Fenggu, we're both Lu Family Kin Disciples. Are you sure you want to do this?"
"So what if I do? Xuanxian is now a Direct Disciple personally acknowledged by the Branch Master. Or are you planning to question the Branch Master's judgment?"
Lu Fenggu shot back.
Lu Zhengfeng immediately fell silent.
Damn Lu Fenggu. How dare he humiliate him in front of everyone. He'd definitely find a way to make him pay inside the Ghost Realm.
At that moment, Lu Tianyuan spoke up.
"Enough, all of you. These are your identity jade pendants. You must wear them at all times after entering the Ghost Realm. Removing them will be treated as forfeiture."
With a wave of his hand, Lu Tianyuan sent an identity jade pendant into each of their hands.
After they'd put them on, Lu Tianyuan turned to Lu Xunxian and addressed him directly.
"Once you're inside, remember--be careful. The Ghost Realm is extremely dangerous. A single moment of carelessness can easily prove fatal."
"Understood, Clan Elder."
Lu Xunxian and the others acknowledged in unison, though Lu Xunxian himself felt no fear whatsoever.
Forget the Ghost Realm's specters--even if a Dao Venerable appeared before him, he'd have the power to put up a fight.
Another day passed.
As disciples from every major force arrived, Lu Tianyuan's eyes snapped open and he spoke.
"Enter."
"Yes!"
At Lu Tianyuan's command, the jade pendants worn by every prodigy aboard the surrounding Dao Vessels flashed with light.
In the next instant, they were all transported into the Ghost Realm.
The Three Hundred Forces Grand Tournament had officially begun.
