Chapter 839 469: Interstellar Corps, Your King Has Returned (2)

  • Next Chapter

When he said this, Xue Dili was speaking to Captain Xing Jia'er alone. After all, the Mimic Venerable King had said there was a mole inside the Interstellar Corps—at the very least, Captain Xing Jia'er wasn't the mole. That much had been certified by the Mimic Venerable King.

"As long as you know it yourself, that's enough. Don't let anyone else know. Publicly, I'll announce that I repaired the comms device myself by borrowing the power of the Mimic Venerable King." Xue Dili reminded him again.

Captain Xing Jia'er's pupils contracted. This piece of news actually made him feel even worse than learning he was contaminated by the Void.

After being tainted by the Void, he might no longer be able to serve as a member of the Interstellar Corps and could only go to the Masked Ball to retire. But what shook him even more was that the Mimic Venerable King had bluntly said there was actually a mole in the Interstellar Corps!

Impossible, absolutely impossible!

That was his first reaction, roaring silently in his heart. Then, very quickly, he thought of the attack his base had suffered, of his long‑time teammate Stanley's death in action, and of the deaths of so many squad members…

At that moment, he silently lowered his head, sinking into a despair as if he could do nothing at all.

Xue Dili had no time to comfort him. This was a race against the clock. Every extra second wasted might mean more members of the Interstellar Corps and the Masked Ball dying.

Xue Dili immediately arrived at the Evil Eye. Looking at the now‑crashed Evil Eye—this fragment of the Venerable King that had once served as the energy source of Fairy Tale Star, later merged into the Mimic Venerable King's body to serve as the core through which the entire Fifth Squad linked to the Mimic Venerable King.

And now it looked utterly dead, because the Mimic Venerable King had already become the God of Order, causing all its former underlying protocols and links to be completely changed. That was why all these comms, links, and various devices created by the Mimic Venerable King had all gone offline.

The solution, in truth, was simple enough: either update all of the Interstellar Corps' communication methods with an entirely new protocol source—or, for example, swap everything over to the God of Order's protocol source.

Xue Dili didn't know whether this plan was good or bad. Once the main systems of the Interstellar Corps were linked to the God of Order, would that end up making things worse instead?

But again, time was running out—for all of them.

At a time like this, he could only trust that even after becoming the God of Order, the Mimic Venerable King's fundamental intentions remained unchanged—that he was still that great Will who founded the Interstellar Corps, who wanted to bring peace to the entire Cosmos and surpass the original Venerable King.

So Xue Dili stepped into the Evil Eye's interior without hesitation. This place, once Old Green's place of Death, had now become the node where the Mimic Venerable King's branch systems were deployed. Arriving there, Xue Dili took out the Mimic Venerable King Fragment lodged within his own body.

"At a moment like this, am I supposed to say something like, 'Rise, my love,' or whatever? It'd sound a bit more epic, right?" Xue Dili suddenly let such shameless nonsense slip out of his mouth.

But he was the only one here. There was no one around to pick up the joke.

Xue Dili gave a faint laugh and slotted that fragment, which housed the consciousness of the "God of Order," into the Evil Eye's main system. But for now, the God of Order still couldn't awake, because almost all of His power was still locked in an inner tug‑of‑war with true Void monsters inside the Mist Council.

So at this moment, Xue Dili had two choices. One: use Void pollution on the God of Order again, slowing down His apotheosis. Two: Xue Dili still held one Divine Tree Fruit in his hand!

He could use it to strengthen the God of Order, letting Him temporarily overpower the Void.

Two options. Xue Dili didn't know which to choose. It was even possible that either one might end up screwing over the Mimic Venerable King instead.

But again, Xue Dili could only answer a multiple‑choice question here.

With every second of hesitation, more civilizations and species across the Cosmos would perish. In such a situation, he could only rely on his gut to choose. If the choice was wrong, he'd just have to pay with his life.

As soon as this thought flashed through Xue Dili's mind, the first face he thought of was Chaos, then his two daughters, then his family. For some reason, he quietly took back that line.

Bet on it. I can't do any better than this anyway, so I'll gamble!

Xue Dili promptly took out a fruit—the purest Divine Tree Fruit, condensed by the Divine Tree of Eden Star.

In that world, the Divine Tree had been contaminated by Athena's memories, and later, Chaos and the Divine Tree quietly transformed the ecology of the entire planet, spreading throughout the whole world.

After that, Chaos's authority of "Love" established a brand‑new link with the Divine Tree, turning it into a whole new power that stole the job from all "Death Gods" across the pantheon.

Reincarnation!

Not the half‑baked reincarnation you saw in other pantheons—Chaos could, through her own authority and the Divine Tree's soul‑absorbing ability, let the Divine Tree select and preserve specific souls. Then she only had to insert that stored soul into a fertilized egg at the very moment of its conception to achieve rebirth.

The price to achieve this reincarnation was simply to offer up one's corpse after death.

So when this ability was rolled out across all of Eden, the other Death Gods had no choice but to give up their old authority. They couldn't compete at all and instead exchanged for other benefits, like military power and the like.

Thus, Chaos was in fact still using the Divine Tree to harvest all of Eden's corpses and souls—but no God tried to stop her, because they knew that after they died, they would likely need Chaos to help them complete their own reincarnation. Even though they'd lose all their power, it was still better than utterly ceasing to exist.

This was the balance on Eden Star, where the Divine Tree coexisted with gods and humans alike.

Although Xue Dili still wasn't entirely satisfied with the Divine Tree's way of existing, among all the worlds he'd seen, this was the place where a Divine Tree lived in the most harmonious way with the local beings.

That Divine Tree, which had inherited Athena's memories, the more it grew, the more it resembled the "World Tree" from before it had been altered.

Yes—the Divine Tree, before being transformed by the First Apostle and the Lord of Mist, had originally been a World Tree used to regulate planets…

Xue Dili thought so to himself.

And so, he chose to use the Divine Tree Fruit. If there was anything in the Cosmos besides the Mimic Venerable King itself that was most closely related to the Venerable King, it would be the Divine Tree Fruit.

A fruit condensed by absorbing Spiritual Particles, born from the nourishment of the souls and flesh of billions, supplying this ominous, twisted power.

It was the creation closest to the Venerable King—a super‑treasure capable of letting an ordinary person soar to Quasi-Tier Five and, once fully digested, directly rocket to Tier Five. Even the Apostles, after plotting for billions of years, still tended it like old farmers guarding their fields.

This was the treasure in the entire Cosmos that could bring you closest to the Venerable King in one step. With just one fruit, any creature could instantly ascend to a status similar to the former "Mimic Venerable King"—that of an Apostle.

Give it to a planet without a World Consciousness, and that world would develop one in an extremely short time. Give it to a planet that already had a World Consciousness, and it could lift that world's entirety into ascension, saturating it with Spiritual Power and boosting the strength of its planetary consciousness and the upper limits of its species!

This was the Divine Tree Fruit—a forbidden path that forcibly approached the Venerable King by crooked means.

And now, Xue Dili chose to gamble with this forbidden power.

In an instant, this fruit from Chaos was pressed straight into the Mimic Venerable King Fragment and refined in a flash.

Just as Xue Dili had expected—since the Mimic Venerable King, now the God of Order, and the true Venerable King shared the same origin, the fruit was absolutely a better choice than Void pollution.

Xue Dili could no longer save the "Mimic Venerable King." Once He irreversibly transformed into the God of Order, everything had already gone beyond anyone's reach. All Xue Dili could do was buy the God of Order a little time.

At the very least, enough time to clean up the mess caused by the Lord of Mist this round!

At that moment, countless members of the Interstellar Corps seemed to sense something. They stared blankly in this direction, their hearts pounding uncontrollably. At the same time, they seemingly felt something else: when they pulled out their comms, they found that the contact devices that had stopped working the moment the Mimic Venerable King vanished… were finally online again!

And right then, the "giant eye" phantom floating within the Evil Eye—like a massive eye cradling the Cosmos in its hands—slowly opened.

This was the God of Order. It was also the power of the Mimic Venerable King.

Interstellar Corps, your King has returned.

Even if only for a short while.
