My Virtu-Real Harem System

Chapter 31: Tactical Infiltration

  • Next Chapter

The towering steel doors of the futuristic facility yielded with a heavy, pressurized hiss, parting just wide enough for Leo to smoothly slip through the threshold. The second he stepped inside, the thick, humid air of the midnight forest was instantly replaced by a chilling, sterile air-conditioned drafts that smelled faintly of ozone and synthetic lubricants. He reached into his tactical vest, pulling out a sleek LED torch. A sharp, brilliant beam of white light sliced through the pitch-black gloom, casting long, geometric shadows across the polished grey floors of the dark entrance hall.

Everything was in an absolute, pin-drop silence. The only audible metric inside the cavernous space was the steady, rhythmic clicking of Leo's heavy combat boots echoing against the reinforced metal walls. Hs intelligence core ran a continuous diagnostic loop on his surroundings, his dark grey eyes tracking the smooth, unblemished concrete architecture. There were no warning decals, no company logos, and no security signs, just a stark, minimalist infrastructure hidden deep within the mountain trail basin.

Leo lifted his left hand, his thumb tapping the edge of his wrist. Instantly, the golden system interface screen materialized in front of his vision, illuminating his sharp jawline in a digital cyan glow.

"System, display the target vector mapping," Leo commanded in a low, disciplined murmur.

Ding!

[TELEMETRY MONITORING: CORE DATA LOCK ACTIVE]

[TARGET MATRIX VECTOR: SUB-LEVEL 3 ROOM]

The 3D blueprint matrix adjusted itself smoothly, the two flashing crimson data beacons representing Cynthia and Chloe pulsing brightly from deep within the subterranean infrastructure. Leo’s eyebrows furrowed as his fingers traced the digital layout. According to the architecture coordinates, he needed to navigate past the primary upper floor gates before accessing the sub-level maintenance lifts.

He moved deeper into the dark facility, his torch tracking the thick, industrial conduits running along the ceiling like giant veins. He bypassed a series of vacant security checkpoints until he stepped directly into the center of a massive, circular testing atrium. The sheer scale of the room made his footsteps sound hollow, the darkness stretching out forty feet above his head.

Clack.

Without a single warning, a heavy sequence of automated breakers flipped behind the walls. A blinding flood of vibrant, neon-green security lights violently switched on around the entire perimeter of the atrium, bathing Leo’s tall frame in a vivid, eerie emerald glow.

"Welcome, rookie operative," an unfamiliar, highly distorted masculine voice echoed out from the overhead speaker panels, the sound heavily synthesized to mask any organic identifiers. "I must admit, your progression parameters are quite fascinating. Coming all this way into an unmapped coordinate zone... you are remarkably brave, Leo. But I highly advise you not to get comfortable. Because from the moment those perimeter doors sealed, your escape options dropped to absolute zero."

Leo didn't flinch. He planted his boots firmly into the floorboards, his torch tracking across the high-altitude observation windows surrounding the upper tier of the atrium, looking for the speaker's physical position. "Who the hell are you? If you’re the one running this illegal facility interface, turn off the jamming frequency and step out into the light."

The distorted voice let out a cold, chilling laugh that rippled through the industrial speakers. "You don't have the administrative authority to ask questions yet, Leo. If you truly wish to reach the lower vault floors... you'll have to survive the primary performance benchmark first."

VREEEET.

A sharp, high-voltage tear in the space-time fabric violently ripped open directly in the center of the atrium floor. A massive, swirling violet portal materialized, its chaotic spatial energy crackling against the concrete walls. Moving with a heavy, ground-shaking momentum, a monstrous silhouette clawed its way out from the rift.

It was a Chimera, but it was twice the size of the beast Leo had slain beside Nicole in the alley. The creature stood over nine feet tall, its massive lion torso corded with thick, mutated muscle blocks, its secondary goat head snarling with a toxic green saliva, and its massive, armored serpent tail whipping violently against the floorboards, shattering the tiles into dust.

"Fight it, Leo," the distorted voice commanded coldly. "Let's see how much raw power your attributes can actually generate before you are permitted to access the first floor gates."

Leo didn't waste a single microsecond. His dark eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as the giant beast let out a deafening roar that shook the ventilation pipes. "System! Execute the loadout initialization! Change my gear right now!"

Ding!

[TACTICAL COMBAT INTERFACE: ENGAGED]

[EQUIPMENT PAYLOAD OVERWRITE: SUCCESSFUL]

A brilliant flash of golden grid lines instantly wrapped around his athletic frame. In less than a breath, his civilian jacket dissolved, replaced by his sleek, form-fitting Western combat uniform layers and charcoal-grey reinforcement vest. Simultaneously, a heavy weight materialized inside his right hand as the massive, polished steel long sword pulled itself out of the digital matrix, its razor-sharp blade glistening with a lethal silver edge under the neon green lights.

"Let's settle this," Leo muttered, his deepened voice snapping with alpha authority.

The Chimera lunged. The giant beast moved with a terrifying, explosive speed that completely defied its massive weight, its razor-sharp front claws sweeping down in a lethal arc designed to decapitate him on the spot. Leo’s physical reflexes kicked in instantly; he threw his athletic frame to the left, his boots sliding across the slick linoleum floor as the massive claws missed his throat by a mere millimeter, slamming into the concrete wall behind him with a deafening crash that sent stone shrapnel flying into his face.

Leo pivoted rapidly, using the creature's massive momentum against it. He lunged forward, swinging his long sword in a powerful, two-handed horizontal cleave targeting the beast's left flank. The silver steel bit deep into the mutated lion flesh, drawing a thick spray of dark crimson fluid.

The creature let out a furious, high-pitched screech. Before Leo could smoothly pull his blade back out from the muscle tissue, the massive, armored serpent tail whipped around from his blind spot with the force of a speeding truck.

Leo’s eyes dilated. He barely managed to raise the flat of his long sword to guard his torso, but the sheer, brute impact of the tail strike slammed into his guard, throwing his heavy frame backward across the atrium. His boots skidded twenty feet before he forcefully drove the tip of his sword into the ground, creating a shower of sparks to halt his momentum. His chest heaved rapidly, a bead of cold sweat tracing down his sharp jawline as his Level 4 stamina metrics began to drain.

This thing’s armor variables are heavily buffed, Leo analyzed, his jaw tightening.

The Chimera didn't give him a single second to breathe. The secondary goat head snapped its jaws open, spitting a massive glob of corrosive green acid straight toward his position. Simultaneously, the lion head launched itself forward for a final, crushing bite.

Leo executed a high-speed sprint, dodging diagonally to the right as the acid splashed behind him, instantly melting the reinforced flooring into a smoking, toxic sludge. Seeing the lion head closing the distance, Leo knew he had exactly one opening. He waited until the last possible microsecond, letting the beast's massive jaws come agonizingly close to his face before dropping his entire body flat beneath the creature's chest.

"Die," Leo roared firmly.

Using every single ounce of his upgraded physical power, he thrust his silver long sword straight upward, driving the razor blade through the soft underbelly of the lion torso all the way to the hilt. Moving with a dominant, unyielding strength, he aggressively dragged the blade down the length of the creature's body, tearing open its core configuration.

The Chimera froze, its massive crimson eyes glazing over as it let out a final, suffocating gurgle. A second later, its massive nine-foot body violently dissolved into a cloud of shimmering violet data particles, completely vanishing from the atrium floor as the portal snapped shut.

Leo slowly stood up, breathing heavily as he smoothly sheathed his long sword back into the system grid, his combat uniform layers glistening under the green lights.

He didn't delay. He marched straight past the shattered atrium floor, pushing open the heavy security gates on the far side to access the main concrete stairwell. He bounded up the stairs three steps at a time, his athletic frame recovering its stamina with algorithmic precision until he reached the heavy iron doors of the first floor.

He pushed the threshold open, stepping out into a long, dark laboratory corridor lined with empty glass server racks.

Clack.

The overhead speaker chimed once more, the distorted voice carrying a mock tone of deep admiration. "Impressive, Leo. Truly impressive. Your physical strength attributes are significantly stronger now. But do not celebrate your victory just yet. Because the next guardian waiting for you on this floor... is a monster you cannot escape."

Leo stood perfectly still in the center of the dark corridor, his hands clenched into tight fists as his dark grey eyes burned with absolute, unyielding determination. He adjusted his stance, his muscles locked and fully ready to face whatever terrifying anomaly stepped out from the shadows next.
