Chapter 26: Outside

The next day. Inside Gu Chen’s courtyard.

Gu Chen was still sleeping soundly on his bed; Feng Shuran didn’t join him this time. She was currently sitting cross-legged on the floor next to Gu Chen; her eyes were closed, and her hands rested on her knees as she absorbed qi in the air.

As much as she wanted to sleep next to Gu Chen, Feng Shuran couldn’t neglect her training. Although she had reached the Nascent Soul Realm, it was still far from enough to assist Gu Chen in his battle against the Seven Realms Alliance.

She needed to keep working hard!

At this moment, a thunderous voice bellowed across the entire mountain.

"Invisible killer, come out and face the judgment of the heavens!"

The voice shouted; it was filled with righteousness, but the strong killing intent was difficult to hide.

The voice woke Gu Chen from his sleep, while Feng Shuran stopped absorbing qi and opened her eyes.

A cold light could be seen in her crimson pupils as she stared slightly upward, her gaze piercing the walls of the house and landing on the figures in the air at the mountain peak.

She saw over two hundred people standing on flying swords outside the mountain. The majority of them were at the Foundation Establishment Realm, while the remaining few were at the Core Formation Realm.

These Core Formation Realm cultivators were the top experts of some of the forces in Oghara. Apparently, not every powerhouse had come to seek an explanation from Feng Shuran; some had actually stayed back.

A deadly smile formed on Feng Shuran’s lips as she slowly stood up from her meditative position.

’So they dare to come and make trouble even after my warning. This time, I’ll make sure none of them escapes!’ she swore inwardly.

She was even angrier because their disturbance had woken her master from his sleep. That was the most unforgivable thing they could have done, a grave sin!

Feng Shuran turned to Gu Chen on the bed behind her and said with a smile.

"Master, they are just ants trying to be intimidating. No need to bother yourself; I’ll go handle it right away."

Gu Chen stared at her and shook his head. She was smiling, but he could feel the murderous intent around her; he definitely couldn’t allow her to go out right away.

These people must have come prepared since they dared to challenge Feng Shuran despite knowing her true strength.

"No need to rush, come with me." Gu Chen said and walked past her, heading out of the room.

Feng Shuran stared at his back, slightly stunned that her master was going out. But a warm smile quickly broke through her cold expression, and she quickly caught up.

Both of them left the courtyard and came outside before looking up. There, in the sky above the forcefield of the base, more than two hundred cultivators in different uniforms stood on flying swords and gazed down at them.

Just as Feng Shuran had noticed, Gu Chen quickly realised that only a few of these people were at the Core Formation Realm; the rest were all Foundation Establishment Realm cultivators.

Gu Chen stopped outside his courtyard and stared at them with curious eyes. The strength of his forcefield was now at the Spirit Transformation Realm; these people had no hope of breaking in.

Therefore, he wasn’t in a rush to send Feng Shuran to deal with them. He wanted to see what gave them the confidence to come attack a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator in her home.

The moment the two of them stepped out of the courtyard, the eyes of all the cultivators landed on them. They glared at the cold, white-haired beauty with killing intent; the Invisible Killer looked different from how she looked when she came to snatch the magical treasure the previous day.

Afterwards, their gaze landed on the young man who was walking beside the Invisible Killer. This person had beautiful long black hair and was indeed very handsome.

Aside from that, the first moment their eyes landed on Gu Chen, the passive skill of the system, Deceiver, activated. All of the cultivators felt like they were looking at a top expert, but upon closer inspection, they realised he was just an ordinary person without a trace of qi.

’Strange, could it be because of his robe?’ many of the cultivators thought to themselves. They recognised Gu Chen’s robe as a magical treasure and thought that the invisible killer must have given it to him.

No longer thinking about Gu Chen, one of the Core Formation Realm cultivators flew forward. It was the old man who carried a huge hourglass on his back.

The face of the old man was cold and emotionless as he gazed at the invisible killer and her...toy.

He had learned that there was an invisible barrier around this mountain, so he didn’t move too close and only stopped after just a few meters.

"Invisible killer, we have come to pass judgment on you on behalf of the heavens!

The Dae Qu sect was a righteous sect that followed the ways of the immortal Dao. They rescued countless rogue cultivators from falling into the wrong path and didn’t hesitate to help common people. They protected the weak, upheld justice, and maintained peace throughout Oghara!

The many cultivators behind the old man shouted in unison. Their voices spread far in all directions.

In front of the courtyard, a disdainful smile formed on Feng Shuran’s face.

Aveng the Dae Qu sect? Pass judgment? They were all crap.

Everyone knew that the Dae Qu sect was very overbearing. Despite being a righteous sect, they didn’t care about the mortals and brazenly killed roaming cultivators for their treasures.

The words of the old man were just excuses; their real purpose was to kill her and prevent her from taking full control of Oghara. After which they would split everything that used to belong to the Dae Qu sect and also take back the Immortal-grade needle.

Gu Chen had the same thought. After all, he wasn’t new to such a situation.

"Master, should I?" Feng Shuran said to Gu Chen.

"Not yet," Gu Chen shook his head, not letting her go out yet.

Feng Shuran was very obedient and continued standing beside Gu Chen.

In the air, the old man and the other cultivators from the major forces in Oghara saw that the two weren’t planning to come out, their expressions immediately becoming twisted.

Could it be that the invisible killer was afraid and wanted to hide behind her barrier?

"Hmph, if you don’t come out, we’ll come to you!" Another Core Formation Realm cultivator snorted. It was the woman with long red hair and a flat chest.

She flew forward, and several Foundation Establishment Realm cultivators moved with her, a total of nineteen cultivators.

They spread out and formed a large circle in the air above the mountain.

"Flag!" The red-haired woman shouted as five formation flags appeared in her right hand.

Hearing her command, formation flags appeared in the hands of the nineteen cultivators as well, each of them holding just one.

"Up!" The red-haired woman shouted again as she pointed two fingers at the five formation flags in front of her. QI flowed out from her fingers and rushed into the flags, causing them to float in the air before rising above the cultivators.

The others did the same, each of them sending qi into the flags with them and controlling them to go higher.

After this, all of them started mumbling strange words at a fast pace. At the same time, the flags started absorbing their qi quickly.

Seconds passed as the cultivators watched the sect master and disciples of one of the formation guides in Oghara mumbling to themselves.

Soon, the flags lit up with dazzling yellow light and started shaking like they were about to fly away.

"Link!" the red-haired woman shouted again and immediately drew strange signs in the air with two hands, each with two fingers stretched out.

Following her actions, the yellow light on the flags shot out and flew towards the closest flag. The five flags quickly connected to each other, instantly becoming stable while the yellow light flew out in two different directions, looking for more flags to connect with.

Following their sect master, the disciples of the formation guide did the same action with their hands and sent yellow light flying out from their flags.

Like snakes following a single path, the yellow light from the formation flags quickly found each other and connected.

Immediately, they completely connected; there was a loud buzz as the woman and her disciples moved back.
