Chapter 99: Chapter 99 - Definitely, My Summoner Is a Pervert!
(A/N: I’ve been called an AI before, but never a translator... Damn, have I transcended to the point where people see me as both? Just to make it clear once again, for the thousandth time, this and my other stories are my own original works, written by me. I don’t use that AI crap to write my stories; I only initially used it to translate the Chapters. I’m learning English so I can translate the Chapters myself. Anyway, just for the laughs, I’m going to post this Chapter too (I’m posting five Chapters on Patreon today). I hope you enjoy it! ????)
... ....
A little while later, Rin walked behind Alear through the corridors of the mansion. The silence between them was somewhat tense, but she preferred not to break it for the time being. After everything she had heard and, above all, the embarrassing situation that had occurred earlier, she decided to do her best to simply ignore his presence and focus on her surroundings.
Alear led her to a large, well-lit lounge. Rin observed the room carefully: several comfortable sofas were arranged elegantly, accompanied by low dark-wood tables, and on one of the walls was a huge flat-screen television. At first glance, it seemed like nothing more than an ordinary living room... if not for the exaggerated size of the room and the obvious luxury present in every detail.
What really caught her attention, however, were the people sitting on the sofas. Several remarkably beautiful young women occupied the space naturally, chatting among themselves as if the situation were perfectly normal. Rin’s heart sank slightly. The number of women gathered there, all apparently comfortable inside Alear’s mansion, caused an uncomfortable suspicion to arise in her mind. Was her summoner one of those perverts who simply collected women? She discreetly swallowed and cast a sidelong glance at Alear. He, however, seemed completely at ease. As soon as he entered the room, he raised one hand and casually called the group’s attention.
"Come here for a moment. There’s someone I want to introduce to you...."
The girls stopped what they were doing and turned toward him. Some stood up, while others simply remained seated, waiting for an explanation. Alear then began introducing them one by one, maintaining the same calm demeanor as always.
"This is Mio Naruse. Beside her is Maria Naruse. Next, Valerie Tepes, Ingvild Leviathan, Echidna Astaroth, and Meredith Ordinton." He paused briefly before pointing toward the last two girls. "And these two are my future wives: Ravel Phenex and Seekvaira Agares."
The young women began observing Rin with varying expressions. Some showed curiosity, others seemed to be discreetly evaluating her, and in some cases, there was merely a faint smile at the new introduction. Rin, meanwhile, remained motionless for several seconds, like a statue.
Alear then turned toward her again.
"This is Rin Tohsaka. She is a Magus who will be living here with us from now on...."
"Oh? Alear-sama invited another girl to become part of his peerage?" Maria asked with a teasing smile. "It was about time. It’s been a month since the last one. Alear-sama really does have trouble staying still for very long...."
Mio cast a sidelong glance at the little Succubus.
"Maria, don’t start with your teasing. I thought you had already learned your lesson. You really don’t want me to call Grayfia-san to teach you another lesson, do you?"
"N-no, definitely not, Mio-sama!" Maria immediately replied, shaking her head. "I was just joking around a little to lighten the mood...."
She quickly abandoned her provocative attitude, casting a nervous glance toward the entrance to the room, as if expecting Grayfia to appear at any moment. Mio merely smiled discreetly upon noticing her behavior. It was impressive how Maria could lose all that courage the moment Grayfia’s name was mentioned. Truly, the head maid was very good at disciplining misbehaving people....
Rin, for her part, had absolutely no idea how to react to any of this. She remained silent for several seconds, feeling a pang of headache as she cursed inwardly. Great. Just great. As if discovering that her summoner was a Demon Archduke surrounded by an absurd number of women wasn’t problematic enough, now she also had to deal with a little girl with silver hair and purple eyes who clearly seemed to be the type who loved provoking others. She narrowed her eyes slightly. That girl was ’troublesome’. Very ’troublesome’.....
"Don’t mind that little Succubus..." Mio said, taking the initiative to approach Rin. She cast a brief glance at Maria, who merely pouted slightly at the comment, before turning her attention back to the newcomer. Her behavior was much calmer than that of the other girl, although there was still a certain degree of caution in her eyes, as if she were also trying to assess exactly who this new member of the household was. "As Alear-sama already introduced us... I am Mio Naruse, one of the Bishops in his peerage. It is a pleasure to meet you, Rin-san."
"The pleasure is mine, Mio-san..." Rin replied, introducing herself formally. "I am Rin Tohsaka. I will be in your care from now on...."
Mio nodded with a brief smile on her lips before turning her attention to Alear. "Alear-sama... Did you bring Rin-san here to introduce her and leave her in our care? Do you have some important appointment?"
"You know me very well, Mio. Yes, indeed...." Alear replied calmly. "I have a meeting with my father-in-law, Lord Agares."
"My father?" Seekvaira blinked in surprise, while Alear nodded.
"Yes. I need to speak with him about some preparations for the party celebrating my introduction to high society...."
"Alear-sama, do you need someone to accompany you?" Ravel asked, slightly furrowing her brow.
"No, that’s not necessary...." Alear replied with a shrug. "It’s nothing complicated. Well, I’ll be going. Try to get along."
He cast one last glance at Rin and turned around, calmly leaving the room. The girl in question merely cursed inwardly, thinking that he really was a lazy Devil. Instead of helping her adapt to her new life, he simply left her in the care of his own subordinates and went off to deal with his own affairs. Rin, however, knew she couldn’t complain. It would be impolite, especially since she was not yet familiar enough with Alear to demand anything from him. And even if she were, he was still a noble of extremely high standing. She would have to choose her words carefully so as not to end up offending someone who, should he decide to act against her, could probably take her life as easily as crushing an insect....
As for the cup incident, she still felt somewhat embarrassed whenever she remembered it. At that moment, she had simply reacted on reflex, overcome by embarrassment and irritation upon realizing what Alear had been thinking. It had not been a rational decision, much less a deliberate attempt to challenge him. She was already fully aware of her current position and the enormous difference in power between them. Alear was not merely the Devil who had summoned her; he was an Archduke of the Underworld, someone who occupied a position high enough that even a small display of disrespect could bring serious consequences. She could be proud, but she wasn’t stupid. She knew perfectly well when she needed to control her temper.
Seekvaira was the first to break the silence that had formed after Alear left. Her expression remained serious and composed, but there was a certain warmth in her eyes as she approached Rin.
"Rin-san, right? If you need anything during your stay, you can come to me. As Alear-sama said that you will be living here with us, I think it’s important for you to feel comfortable."
Rin nodded slightly, still observing her carefully. Seekvaira’s posture was quite elegant and disciplined, conveying an impression completely different from that of the little Succubus who had just teased Alear. It was easy to tell that she took her position as a noble quite seriously.....
"Thank you, Agares-san. I’ll remember that."
Ravel, who remained beside Seekvaira, also approached by a few steps. Her demeanor was more delicate and refined, although Rin could perceive a certain caution behind that polite smile.
"I’ll also be at your disposal, Rin-san. If there is anything you don’t know about the mansion or about how things work around here, don’t hesitate to ask. After all, Alear-sama entrusted you to our care."
"I see. It seems I won’t have to worry about finding someone to ask questions." Rin replied with a small smile, although she was still trying to understand exactly where she had ended up. At least, apparently, the people in this household had no intention of treating her like an intruder.....
Echidna, who had remained silent until then, finally stood up. A curious smile appeared on her lips as her eyes traveled up and down Rin, not in a vulgar manner, but like someone who had just encountered an extremely interesting phenomenon.
"So, Rin-san..." Echidna’s voice was soft, almost casual, but there was something peculiar in that gaze that made Rin narrow her eyes slightly. Echidna simply added, "It is a pleasure to meet you."
Rin nodded, still somewhat suspicious. There was something about that woman she couldn’t identify....
Valerie was the next to approach. Unlike Echidna, her expression was much calmer.
"You don’t need to be so tense. You just arrived, so it’s normal not to know how to act. With time, you’ll get used to it."
Rin glanced at her.
"I hope so. Considering everything that happened today, my definition of ’normal’ will probably need to be updated."
Valerie let out a small smile at the response.
"That happens more often than you might imagine."
Ingvild, who had remained somewhat farther away, finally approached. Her manner was much shyer and more reserved, but there was an evident kindness in her face.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Rin-san...."
"The pleasure is mine, Ingvild-san."
Ingvild hesitated for a moment before continuing.
"I hope you can adapt quickly. If you want to talk or simply have trouble sleeping because of all this... you can talk to me."
Rin was slightly surprised by the offer. There was something genuinely kind about the girl, making it difficult to maintain the same caution she felt toward Echidna.
"Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind."
Meredith was the last to approach. Unlike the others, there was something about her demeanor that was slightly more difficult to interpret. Her eyes remained fixed on Rin for several seconds, studying her carefully before she finally spoke.
"Meredith Ordinton." She simply introduced herself, without any embellishment. "I’m a Magus, and I’m also part of Alear-sama’s nobility. I hope we can get along."
Rin raised an eyebrow slightly upon hearing the word ’Magus’. That immediately caught her attention, although she was careful not to show too much.
"A Magus?"
"Yes."
Meredith replied naturally.
"Then we’ll probably have some interesting things to talk about."
Rin nodded slowly.
"Probably."
Finally, Mio approached again, realizing that the introductions were already over. She glanced at all the girls before turning her attention back to Rin.
"Well, I think you know everyone now. You don’t need to worry so much. Most people here are quite easygoing."
Maria, still sitting on the sofa, raised one hand.
"I’m easygoing too."
Mio immediately looked at her.
"You are the last person who should be saying that."
"That’s unfair!"
Maria pouted slightly, clearly offended, while Rin couldn’t help but let a small smile appear on her face.
Perhaps, after all, this new life wouldn’t be as bad as she had imagined. It was still too early to say, but at least it seemed that she wouldn’t be forced to live only among unpleasant people....
