Damien turned towards it.

"You there, tell me. Who is the Storm and Blizzard?"

The new Eidolon priest genuinely had no idea how to answer Damien’s question. Just over a week ago, he had been a low-intellect Eidolon, barely capable of thinking beyond his instincts and the orders given to him. Everything he knew about the Storm and Blizzard God had been overheard from the Chief and the Divine Priest, and neither of them had exactly been reliable sources of information.

The new Eidolon priest lowered its head, its mind desperately searching for something useful to say. It had only recently gained intelligence, there was nothing it could give Damien.

It was starting to feel despair, despair at the fact that it was about to die unjustly. It had already surrendered, abandoned any intention of fighting, and offered itself as Damien’s slave. Yet now, despite doing everything it could to survive, it had been asked a question it simply could not answer.

"My king." The new Eidolon priest bowed deeply. "I’m afraid I do not possess the knowledge you seek. Please show mercy and allow me to serve you another way."

Damien’s face was revolted beyond words.

"There’s no need for us to go there."

The Eidolon priest froze slightly, uncertain whether Damien meant there was no need to beg or no need to continue talking.

Damien thought for a moment.

"In hindsight, there is a way I can make use of you."

The new Eidolon priest slowly raised its head.

Damien looked at it for a few seconds, his expression becoming thoughtful as he considered what he had just said. He had initially planned to let the undead Lich eat it along with the Divine Priest, but now that he looked at the Eidolon properly, there was something far more useful he could do with it.

Damien decided to spare the Eidolon priest’s life, not out of the abundant kindness of his heart, but simply because he saw potential in its body.

The decision wasn’t particularly difficult once he thought about it. The priest had gained intelligence recently, meaning its body had already undergone some sort of change, and Damien had something else he wanted to test.

Damien hated thinking about it that way, but he needed a guinea pig to try out the spells from the Tome of Avarice.

His eyes briefly narrowed as he thought about the ancient book. He still couldn’t properly understand everything written inside it, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t experiment with the things he had managed to uncover. The problem was finding something suitable to experiment on.

Fortunately, one had just surrendered itself to him.

Damien glanced away from the new priest and towards the ongoing battle.

The Divine Priest exchanged blows with the undead priest as hundreds of undead scratched at his pristine blue scales. At first, they didn’t do much damage. Their attacks bounced off the Divine Priest’s body or left only shallow marks, and the creature had enough strength to force its way through the surrounding undead.

But as time went on, the number of undead became a problem.

Every time the Divine Priest pushed one away, several more closed in from another direction. Claws scraped across its scales, leaving thin marks that slowly multiplied across its body. Sparks flew whenever their attacks struck against the harder portions of its blue scales, and the beautiful surface gradually became filled with patches where the scales had been damaged, exposing red blood underneath.

The Divine Priest roared angrily and swung its arms, sending several undead flying.

It barely had time to enjoy the space it created before more of them rushed in.

A frost-bat suddenly latched onto its shoulders and dug its claws into its body. The Divine Priest reached up to grab it, but before it could react, the frost-bat released its talons and let it drop.

The Divine Priest fell for a hundred meters before crashing into the ground, the impact sent dust and debris outward, but the creature quickly forced itself back onto its feet.

Its body was covered in scratches and blood, its breathing heavier than before. Then the Divine Priest roared furiously into the darkening sky.

"Come face me, is cowardice your only—"

The ritual staff smacked him across the face, forcefully unscrewing several of its teeth.

The Divine Priest stumbled sideways, one hand immediately clutching its jaw as it stared in horror at the undead priest.

The undead priest didn’t give it time to recover. It rushed forward again, ritual staff raised, while the surrounding undead continued swarming the Divine Priest from every direction.

The Divine Priest’s expression twisted with anger.

Then Damien walked out of the mass of undead surrounding them. His lazy, indifferent expression made the Divine Priest even more furious. After everything that had happened, after all the attacks it had endured, Damien looked as though he had merely stepped outside to inspect something mildly interesting.

The Divine Priest’s grip tightened around its jaw, it really hated him.

Most of all, it hated the fact that no matter how fiercely it fought, the difference between them remained painfully obvious. It was no match for Damien and his army of undead.

"Have you had enough?" Damien asked coldly as the undead priest’s staff came to a halt inches away from the Divine Priest.

The Divine Priest clenched his jaw, staring at the ritual staff hovering dangerously close to his face. His pristine blue scales were damaged from the relentless assault. Pride clearly fought against his instinct to survive, but only when Damien was about to turn away did he finally speak.

"Wait, yes. I surrender, please show mercy."

Damien didn’t bother stopping. With his hands behind his back, he didn’t even bother sparing the Divine Priest a glance.

"Bluei Blue."

The Divine Priest almost cursed out loud, but managed to hold it back as Damien continued.

"Do you know what happened to the humans that died on this battlefield? Where are their bodies, and who took them?".
