Chapter 305: Yours Truly
From the comfort of his bed, Ethan stared at the screens hovering quietly before him.
[Balance Left In Transfer Ticket: 75,500 XP]
His eyes lingered for a moment, then softened as his thoughts settled. ’Alright, Rue... let’s see what you’ve got.’
With a mental command, he directed the remaining allocation through the system interface.
[Rue’s Progress Complete: 6500 / 6500 XP to King-Class]
[Rue’s Progress Complete: 9000 / 9000 XP to Legendary-Class]
[Rue’s Progress Complete: 15000 / 15000 XP to Emperor-Class]
[Rue’s Progress Complete: 30000 / 30000 XP to Beast-Class]
[Congrats! The Summon Rue is now a Beast-Class Summon]
[Rue has reached her maximum rating]
[Balance Left In Transfer Ticket: 15,000 XP]
Ethan exhaled. "Alright, show me her profile"
The display expanded
[Name: Rue]
[Title: Scion Of Favorable Odds]
[Classification: Divinity]
[Category: Divine Artifact]
[Summon Class: Beast]
[Potential Rating: Max]
[SKILLS:]
Reading
Partition Of Fortune
[SPECIAL SKILLS:]
Loaded Outcome
Nine Lives
[Special Weapon: The Watching Clowder]
[Notable Limits:
Aside from Reading and Partition Of Fortune, every other skill requires the sacrifice of one of her nine cats.
Sacrificed cats return after a 48-hour cooldown period. Simply dismissing Rue and summoning her again will not restore them.
Rue carries an innate luck field that naturally prevents harm; this is not a skill but an instinctive form of protection.
Fusion with Rue is not advised, as she still carries residual essence of her original creator, which may draw attention toward the user]
[Summon Background: Originally a Divine Artifact create and blessed by the Goddess of Luck and Charm, later entrusted to a high priestess as an amulet meant to protect both her and her child, Rue, during the Age of Champions. But in the war that followed the Great Cataclysm, that protection failed. The amulet’s power had been overused and was still in cooldown when disaster struck. Both the high priestess and her child perished. When its power eventually returned, something abnormal occurred, almost like grief given form. The artifact fractured its own nature, taking on the likeness of the priestess’s daughter and her cat. The artifact, now manifest as Rue, ultimately perished during the Great Cataclysm.]
[Reading — This skill has gained a qualitative change. Rue is able to read the flow of fate in a given environment and determine whether an outcome will end up favorable or unfavorable for the user.]
[Activation Requirement: The user must directly ask Rue about a specific outcome. The question must be phrased in a yes or no format. Any attempt at complexity, elaboration, or multi-layered inquiry will default to a "No" response.]
[Warning: This skill becomes unreliable when too many variables are involved, such as the presence of multiple high-tier individuals or divine entities influencing the outcome.]
⸻
[Partition Of Fortune — Rue is able to assign any one of her cats to a target she takes a liking to. That individual then becomes partially bound to Rue’s special skills, effectively extending her influence onto them.]
⸻
[Loaded Outcome — Upon wishing through one of the cats to activate this skill, a guaranteed hit is enforced on a chosen target. The attack will always connect, bypassing conventional defenses and most forms of preparation.]
⸻
[Nine Lives — This skill allows Rue or any individual currently under her fortune to evade fatal harm. Activation requires a wish made upon one of the cats, specifying the harm to be avoided.]
[Warning: Both "Nine Lives" and "Loaded Outcome" may lose reliability in scenarios involving excessive variables, particularly when multiple high-tier entities or divine-level interference are present.]
Ethan looked at these skills with a level of surprise. Even without passive traits or an ultimate skill set, Rue’s abilities were... undeniably busted.
He had a smile, agreeing inwardly that it was worth the experience points.
He then decided to level Albedo, only to discover that she just needed 700 XP to reach max.
She was already m at the edge of her final threshold, and couldn’t even be pushed beyond Commander rank anymore unless he used culling points. The realization made him click his tongue.
He then mentally commanded the system to assign the remaining XP to Bierzim and Xylo the Demon Taint, which was just about the right numbers to get them both to Emperor Classes.
[Congrats! The Summon Bierzim is now an Emperor-Class summon]
[Bierzim has reached reached its maximum rating]
[Congrats! The Summon Xylo is now an Emperor-Class summon]
[Xylo has reached reached its maximum rating]
[Balance Left In Transfer Ticket: 0]
[The Ticket reward has expired]
So far, all of Ethan’s summons were at their max rating. He nodded satisfactorily and went to take a shower.
——
About an hour later, Ethan was stepping out of the manor in a three-piece suit, preparing to head into his vintage sedan for work.
He had just reached the car when he felt a sudden movement in his pocket.
He paused. "...huh?"
His hand slowly went in, pulling out a ruffled piece of paper.
He stared at it in mild surprise, knowing that certainty this had not been there earlier.
Still frowning, he smoothed it out and read the contents.
"In ten minutes, Four missile will strike at the Grayforte train station, market square, Leon Square, and The Ainzbern family house."
Yours truly
Merlin
Ethan looked at the paper with a puzzled expression, realizing for a brief moment that what he was reading made absolutely no sense.
But then he saw the name.
Merlin.
And in that instant, his eyes widened slightly in realization.
This wasn’t nonsense.
It was a warning from the trickster!
These were locations at the most populous places within Grayforte City itself, right at the heart of the town.
"Shit!" he whispered.
And without another thought, he vanished instantly from the entrance of his house, leaving only flickers of lightning sparks where he once stood.

At Vanburgh’s Main Military Base...
The Prime Minister had just stepped into the chamber, with Lady Audrey and Esmeray following closely behind him.
This was the command deck; an elevated control chamber enclosed by angled glass, overlooking the operational yard below.
At the center, the general immediately turned to attention. "Prime Minister," he said, giving an instant salute.
The Prime Minister gave a nod, already walking forward toward the glass. "At ease."
His gaze lowered to the activity below. "They’re prepared?"
"Yes, sir. All four units are loaded and awaiting authorization," the General replied.
