My Twin Dao Companions Are Reincarnated Empresses
Chapter 32: The Gifts of the Twin Empresses (2)
After sorting through everything related to cultivation, what remained in front of Gu Yuan were two identity tokens and a jade slip containing information about the origins of the two disciples.
Cangming Sect of the Qin Dynasty.
Was this the same sect he had read about, one of the strongest sects on the continent?
Gu Yuan couldn’t determine that with certainty, but there was no doubt that the Cangming Sect was a powerful sect.
Will they come looking for revenge?
He wondered about it for a moment before crushing the two identity tokens. There was nothing he could do about it now. All he could hope for was that they wouldn’t discover that he had been the one who killed the two disciples.
He had killed someone who might have belonged to a sect stronger than his own, so under normal circumstances, Gu Yuan should have been worried.
Yet, he wasn’t particularly concerned.
The elder had been killed by Ji Yan, so if the Cangming Sect came looking for someone, their attention should naturally fall on the twins rather than him.
Besides, they were geniuses.
Something like this wouldn’t faze them.
Gu Yuan nodded to himself, apparently satisfied with his own reasoning, before finally shifting his attention to the two boxes and the bracelet he had received from the twins.
He looked through the box he had received from Ji Yue first.
Inside was, once again, a storage treasure.
It was a ring with an elegant silver-white design, its surface engraved with delicate patterns that gave it a refined and almost otherworldly appearance.
After examining it, Gu Yuan discovered that it was actually a Top Grade Earth Rank treasure. Not only could it be used as a storage treasure, but it also possessed a defensive function.
However, refining its restrictions proved to be far from easy.
Gu Yuan spent an entire week refining them before the ring finally recognized him as its owner.
Only then did he turn his attention toward what was stored inside.
After learning that the ring could even help block an attack from a Spiritual Core Realm cultivator, Gu Yuan already felt a new sense of security enveloping him. Having such a treasure on him meant that even if he encountered an unexpected situation, he wouldn’t necessarily be completely helpless.
Finally, he moved his spiritual sense into the ring.
For a moment, Gu Yuan simply blinked.
Inside was a mountain of cultivation resources.
There were Spirit Stones, pills, treasures, crystal slips containing cultivation techniques and various other techniques, along with countless other resources that Gu Yuan couldn’t immediately identify.
He stared at the enormous collection for several moments before muttering, "Did she rob a sect or something?"
But as he thought about it more carefully, recalling where the twins had been before returning to the sect, his expression gradually changed.
They had been at the Crimson Flame Sect.
And after remembering the state that sect had been left in, a terrible possibility suddenly occurred to him.
"They really did rob a sect."
Gu Yuan looked at the resources inside the ring again, and this time, he hesitated slightly before touching anything.
These weren’t simply resources that Ji Yue had accumulated over countless years.
They were the belongings of an entire sect... and now, they were all in his hands.
The thought made Gu Yuan feel a little uneasy.
Even so, his caution couldn’t stop his curiosity, and Gu Yuan soon began carefully examining everything inside.
Spirit Stones?
He didn’t even bother counting them. There were simply too many, enough for him to spend for a very, very long time.
Instead, he searched for anything that could be useful to him, only to realize that this created another problem.
There were too many things that could be useful to him.
Almost everything inside was of a high rank, and almost everything had some use for his current cultivation or future development. Techniques alone were enough to leave him hesitating. The lowest-ranked ones were Profound Rank, while the highest reached Heaven Rank, leaving Gu Yuan with the pleasant problem of simply choosing which one he liked the most.
Not long ago, he had been troubled by the difficulty of obtaining even a single suitable technique.
Now, he had too many choices and only needed to select one.
Against this kind of trouble, Gu Yuan had no complaints whatsoever. In fact, if possible, he wouldn’t mind facing this kind of trouble many more times in the future.
He spent the next few days sorting through the resources, taking out the items he considered the most important to him and placing them to the side. By the time he was finished, there were already several Earth Rank and Heaven Rank treasures separated from the rest.
Only then did his attention turn to the bracelet he had received from Ji Yan.
He went through the same process as he had with the storage ring from Ji Yue. The bracelet was also an Earth Rank treasure, and refining its restrictions once again took him an entire week before it finally recognized him as its owner.
Gu Yuan was already prepared for what he might find inside.
Yet, when his spiritual sense entered the bracelet, he couldn’t help but receive another shock.
There was an even larger mountain of resources inside.
Gu Yuan took a deep breath and began sorting through them. After some time, he finally took out three Heaven Rank items.
His gaze moved back and forth between the two sets of carefully chosen treasures, a quiet realization settled over him.
These treasures hadn’t been chosen randomly.
They had been specially prepared for him.
The realization left Gu Yuan feeling somewhat complicated.
He had made the decision to become the twins’ Dao companion, but that didn’t mean he was actually happy about everything that had happened. More accurately, he had simply come to terms with the situation and accepted that this was the path he had chosen.
Even now, he still felt some dissatisfaction toward the twins.
Their relationship had progressed too quickly, and many things had been decided before he had truly had the chance to understand them or decide how he felt about them.
But seeing the resources they had prepared for him, and realizing that they had actually taken his needs into consideration when choosing them, Gu Yuan’s feelings inevitably changed a little.
Perhaps he had been too harsh in judging them.
They were domineering, troublesome, and had dragged him into a relationship that had developed far faster than he would have liked.
But at the same time, in their own way, they were treating him well.
That realization didn’t make all of his previous dissatisfaction disappear, nor did it suddenly make him deeply attached to them.
However, his opinion of the twins had undeniably risen.
His hand unconsciously moved toward his neck, where the now hidden small ring-like mark formed from two intertwined colors were.
Through the mark, he could actually sense their location. The twins were already outside the sect; otherwise, if they were still here, Gu Yuan would probably have gone to find them and thanked them again.
After slowly exhaling, Gu Yuan shifted his gaze toward the remaining box, the one the twins had prepared together.
Now, what could possibly be inside?
It had to be something important for the twins to prepare it together, especially after each of them had already given him treasures containing Heaven Rank items. Gu Yuan didn’t feel like he needed anything else at this point, but that didn’t stop his curiosity from growing.
He slowly opened the box.
The instant he lifted the lid, an unprecedented wave of heat enveloped the room.
Gu Yuan’s expression changed, and he immediately closed the box again.
Even though he had only opened it for a brief moment, however, that was already enough for him to determine what was inside.
A Treasured Flame.
The very thing he had once set his sights on, something he had thought he would have to search for himself...
Had found its way to him on its own.
