Chapter 561

The Larsons watching the livestream all shook their heads in exasperation when they saw the shadows rising from the ground.

"Yup. She’s there now," Justin muttered with a click of his tongue.

Julie turned towards her husband, worry evident on her face.

"Wo-won’t this cause a problem? We have always lived in the shadows for as far as I can recall. And now, she’s out there, and we all know how Layla can get when the matter is about Kai."

Lancelot didn’t rush to reply. Instead, he rubbed his chin, deep in thought.

His blue eyes remained fixed on the holographic screen as he considered the situation. After a moment, however, he shook his head and turned towards Julie with a smile.

"Afraid, sweetheart?"

Julie clicked her tongue.

"Of course I’m not. Why should I be afraid? Who can harm me, talk more of my kids? I’m just worried about the state of the world with this."

"Exactly. We don’t know how those so-called world leaders will react now. We had promised to remain in the shadows and not interfere with their business. And now, Layla is o—"

"—She’s out there saving her brother, not causing an issue. Besides, she’s already gone. Whatever happens, genuinely happens." Lancelot interrupted Justin, a sharp look entering his eyes.

Julie could only sigh before turning her gaze back to the screen.

There were still around eighty Aberrants left on the battlefield, and the teenagers were doing everything they could to fight them off. They were pushing themselves to their limits, with little time to pay attention to anything beyond the enemies directly in front of them.

As a result, they hadn’t noticed the new arrival.

Even Captain Raze remained deeply occupied with his own battle.

Although those on the battlefield hadn’t noticed Layla’s appearance, some people watching the livestream certainly had.

....

The head of the Immortal Flame Family felt his brows draw together in shock as he watched Layla rise from the shadows.

’Huh?’

"What is she doing out there? Didn’t they say they won’t—mehn...fuck it. I’m not worried."

He scoffed and leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on the screen.

Across the world, the other leaders watching the livestream reacted similarly when they saw Layla emerge from the ground.

Despite her young age, she had already earned a fearsome reputation in their eyes.

Ruthless.

Unforgiving.

Chaotic.

She was a stark contrast to her twin brother, who was more reserved, calm, and coolheaded.

Layla had always loved destruction.

The world leaders knew this all too well because they were often the ones left cleaning up after her.

They had spent years doing so to prevent the world from discovering the truth about the Larsons—a family that preferred to remain in the shadows and wanted nothing to do with the outside world.

The Larsons simply minded their own business, focusing on what they were determined to accomplish.

They were a stubborn bunch who despised disrespect and would never tolerate anyone laying a hand on their own.

Touch a strand of a Larson’s hair, and you, your present generation, and the generations to come would bite the dust.

And now, the most furious member of that family was standing right on the battlefield.

The entire world remained oblivious to who she truly was.

Only one person on the battlefield knew just how rash she could be.

’Oh boy.’

Kai gulped inwardly as he watched his elder sister standing before the two Aberrants.

Shadowy hands clung to the Aberrants’ legs, holding them firmly in place and preventing them from moving a single inch.

The grip was solid.

Shadows continued rippling outward with such restless force that their movements resembled waves spreading across the surface of water.

Felix, who stood just a few metres away, suddenly found himself immobilized as well.

He glanced down and realized that unfamiliar shadows had extended towards his own, clinging to it and pinning him to the spot.

Turning his head to the side, he caught sight of a beautiful woman standing nearby.

She was slim, with a tiny waist and graceful curves that could turn heads and snap necks.

Her black eyes seemed to twist and dance like living shadows as they remained locked onto the Aberrants.

She wore a full-body suit of beast armour, its surface appearing to pulse in tandem with the shadows surrounding her. Dark tendrils clung to every part of her frame, weaving around the armour as though both were extensions of the same power.

Her midnight-black hair fell down her back in beautiful waves, drawing Felix’s attention even as the pounding footsteps of the approaching Aberrants grew louder.

His gaze naturally drifted towards her chest, and for a moment, his heart nearly leaped out of his chest with joy.

’Beautiful. Proportional. Ah... my type.’

At that exact moment, the clouds began weeping.

Rain poured from the heavens, accompanied by furious gusts of wind. Thunder rumbled overhead before a loud BANG shook the sky.

Within moments, the entire battlefield was drenched. Rain soaked through clothing, plastered hair against faces, and streamed down the ruined structures scattered across Wall Rose.

Even so, Captain Raze continued cutting down Aberrants relentlessly, while the others didn’t pause for even a second.

"Sis, what are you doing here?" Kai whispered, his hands tightening into fists.

Nearby, the Aberrants continued struggling against the shadowy hands holding them captive.

They slashed at the shadows, twisted their bodies, and strained with all their might, their groans of frustration and pain mixing with the roar of the rain. Yet, no matter how violently they struggled, they couldn’t break free.

Layla didn’t answer Kai’s question.

Rain soaked her midnight-black hair as she slowly raised one hand and waved it to the side.

Immediately, the shadows gripping the creatures’ legs expanded, pulling their limbs apart from each other.

The force was merciless.

It was as though an enormous crushing weight had seized their legs and was steadily forcing them in opposite directions.

Cries of pain erupted from the Aberrants as cracking sounds rang out, nearly drowning beneath the relentless downpour.

Layla clenched her fist.

The shadows tightened.

And with that single movement, the Aberrants’ legs exploded in a shower of blood.

Their enormous bodies crashed to the ground with heavy THUDS, blood pouring from their ruined limbs as they writhed in agony.

Felix was so captivated by the spectacle unfolding before him that he failed to notice the Aberrants that had attacked him closing in once more.

Their massive feet swung down towards him.

Without even looking in their direction, Layla swept her hand to the side.

A dozen shadow blades burst forward at lightning speed.

SHING!

The blades tore through the Aberrants’ abdomens, ripping open gaping holes as blood sprayed into the rain-soaked air.

The creatures staggered, taking several unsteady steps away from the werewolf as their bodies struggled to withstand the damage.

Only then did Felix register the danger that had been bearing down on him.

Before the Aberrants could recover, Layla raised one hand into the air.

The shadows around her stirred.

She swung her hand back down.

And before everyone’s eyes, an enormous sword formed from shadows descended at tremendous speed, cleaving through the Aberrants’ heads.
