My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 521: Flurry Furry (2)
Chapter 519
The air crackled and distorted around his hands. It seemed as if the very light of the world was flickering in and out of existence as Ray’s fist shot forward.
His hand streaked toward the King’s face like a bullet.
The lightning around his arm grew more erratic the closer he got until—
"....."
Silence.
It seemed as if the world itself had gone quiet the moment Ray’s fist collided with the King’s face.
Even though the boy had been moving at an incredible speed, the creature wasn’t slow either.
One of the King’s hands had already been moving toward Ray’s face, but it seemed the Tribrid was simply faster.
The world appeared to hold its breath as Ray hung in the air, his fist buried against the creature’s chin.
Lightning continued to crawl up and down his furry yet bulky arm, illuminating the strands of brown fur and silver streaks covering it.
Then—
A heartbeat later, a sonic boom tore through the world.
Windows shattered into countless shards.
The earth beneath them blew open as sparks of lightning shot through the air.
The Ogre’s face lit up for a brief moment and then—
BOOOOM!
A thunderous kinetic discharge of lightning erupted from the boy’s fist, smashing into the creature’s chin like a cannon.
The King’s jaws slammed together with a deafening crack.
Teeth flew through the air as his eyes widened with disbelief.
His massive body was just beginning to lift from the force of the blow when a second attack collided with his abdomen with the force of a freight train.
The King coughed violently, his eyes bulging as his body was launched backward.
Within a blink, his back slammed into a wall.
There was no resistance whatsoever.
The wall simply caved in around him as the King coughed out a mouthful of blood.
Nebula moved like a blur.
She emerged before him in an instant, her talon-like hands streaking toward his face.
She grabbed him by the head and sent his skull ploughing into the sturdy wall beside him.
Again.
And again.
And again.
She hammered his head against the wall like an angry wife whose husband had refused to drop money for the day’s meal.
She snatched his head once more and was about to drive it into the wall again, only for the King to suddenly seize both of her arms and lock them in place.
Without hesitation, the Ogre slammed his head into hers.
Tusks collided with mandibles as the Echo’s head snapped backward. The inertia of the attack sent her flying away as the King finally released her arms.
Peeling himself from the wall, Ray launched a double kick from below.
The King pivoted around just in time, catching one of the boy’s legs out of the air.
Then, with a violent twist of his body, he spun around and drove Ray straight into the ground.
CRAAASH!
Chunks of concrete exploded into the air as specks of blood were violently forced from Ray’s mouth.
The Ogre raised his heavy foot, preparing to slam it down and crush the boy’s head.
Ray wasted no time.
He rolled away before shooting back to his feet, darting toward the creature without a single trace of hesitation in his eyes.
One hand remained behind his back as an orb of light swirled there at rapidly increasing speed.
The moment he emerged before the beast, a punch tore toward his head with brutal speed.
Ray sharply leaned his head to the side, watching as the fist raced harmlessly past him.
Then his own hand shot forward and slammed into the King’s abdomen.
BANG!
The orb detonated in a powerful explosion, sending the King reeling backward.
Tchaaaaak!
The King coughed out blood as he slowly turned his head, only to see Nebula’s bladed hands buried deep within his back.
Even then, he wasn’t about to fall.
Despite the grave injuries he had suffered, the King had no intention of dying here.
If he was going down, he would make sure to take at least one of these bastards with him.
He lifted one hand into the air.
His hammer hurtled toward him.
But it would take a few seconds to reach his grasp.
Nebula didn’t waste those seconds.
She dragged her hands downward, her colossal blades ripping open the King’s flesh as blood sprayed from his back like a fountain.
Simultaneously, the hammer closed the distance.
The moment it reached his grasp, the King seized it and, without delay, rotated his entire body.
The warhammer spun violently toward the Echo’s head.
Alas!
Nebula vaulted backward just in time.
But the Warhammer’s head suddenly blazed with furious flames.
BANG!
A fireball ripped out from the weapon’s head and rammed directly into the Echo’s face.
Her entire head was consumed by flames.
Ray’s eyes widened in horror as he watched his Echo suddenly look like a damn Ghost Rider.
Even though she was burning, her crimson eyes still held a hint of madness as she bolted toward the Ogre once more.
Seeing that his Echo was still willing to fight, Ray lunged forward as well.
Now, the King was faced with a dilemma.
A half-transformed werewolf was approaching from behind.
An Emperor-level Echo was charging straight at him from the front.
Who would he take?
Would he allow one of them to land a hit so he could deal with the other?
On the contrary, the Ogre raised his hammer high above his head.
The weapon’s head glowed and crackled with intense flames.
Then, he hurled it back down.
Ray immediately knew what was about to happen.
"UP!"
The instant the weapon was about to connect with the earth, both Ray and Nebula kicked off the ground.
But to their shock, the hammer never struck the earth.
The King vaulted into the air.
His weapon plunged directly into Nebula’s face with such force that the flames consuming her head were blown out in an instant.
CRACK!
A loud crack echoed through the chamber, followed by Nebula’s body crashing into the earth below with a resounding BANG!
Part of her purple chitinous face had cracked massively, with one of her mandibles breaking loose.
Ray’s heart tightened.
His teeth ground against each other.
*Fuck this.*
*Activate Stealth!*
The King snapped his head toward the spot where Ray had been standing the moment he landed.
He was about to dash toward him when Ray’s form suddenly began disappearing.
One limb at a time.
His arm vanished.
Then his torso.
Then his legs.
And with each part of his body that disappeared, his aura and scent vanished along with it.
The King’s brows drew together as he wondered what the human was planning.
Movement.
His head turned toward where Nebula had fallen.
But she was nowhere to be seen.
*Huh?*
Both the human and the Echo were gone.
A sudden chill crept up the Ogre’s spine as wind swept around him.
The flames surrounding his body burned hotter.
The King tightened his grip around his Warhammer and slowly looked around the chamber.
"Did human run away? Benevolent King didn’t take human as a coward."
He tapped the handle of his weapon.
His crimson eyes gradually shifted to orange.
And then—
Like a broken arrow, the Ogre spun around with such explosive force that the ground shattered beneath his feet.
His hand shot through the air like a snake.
Then—
"Gah...."
CRACK!
Stealth was forcefully cancelled.
Ray appeared in midair, his neck trapped firmly in the King’s grasp, while his dagger was already poised for a silent strike toward the creature’s eye.
The corner of the beast’s lips curved into a wicked smile.
The human was caught.
And this time, there was nowhere left for him to run.
