Chapter 491

The next day arrived in the blink of an eye, and with it, Ray woke up as early as possible.

Even before the sun crawled up, the Tribrid was already awake.

Out of habit, he began his daily quest routine—starting with push-ups, then sit-ups. He made sure to complete every single one before leaving his room and heading outside to complete his daily laps.

Afterwards, he returned to his room to freshen up.

There were still a few hours before the ceremony even began, so the Tribrid had all the time he wanted to make himself a personal breakfast in the kitchenette.

Grabbing a pan and breaking some eggs into it, he stirred them with precise control—almost like a seasoned chef.

All while whistling a cheerful tune to himself and moving his waist to the rhythm.

On the side, his tea was brewing.

And some pieces of bread were in the toaster.

With his part-werewolf bloodline, he needed to constantly keep eating, but today, he didn’t want to stuff his face with food.

On such an important day, he wouldn’t want to let one rip accidentally and draw all unwanted attention his way.

Chuckling to himself while nodding along to his own cheerful whistling, Ray was almost done, and at that time, the sun could be seen rising, its rays peeking through his closed window.

Ray paid it no attention as his breakfast was finally ready.

Walking to his bed, he grabbed his phone and scrolled through it for a moment.

He hadn’t had the time to connect with his cohort yet, but now was not the time.

Dropping the phone to the side, Ray grabbed his toasted bread with eggs and began munching on it quietly.

Blowing on his steaming hot tea, he took a sip while letting out a satisfied sigh.

"Man...this is the life."

Chewing, then drinking, Ray reminisced about all the adventures and troubles he had faced in the Aspirant Corps.

The difference was glaring when compared to how he was living right now.

But he knew one thing that remained at the back of his mind—it wouldn’t last long.

Anyway, he shook the thoughts out of his head and enjoyed his quiet breakfast.

When he was done, it was already 10 a.m.

The ceremony was to begin by 12 p.m. on the dot.

Grabbing his dirty dishes, he walked to the sink and began washing them.

Drying his hands afterwards, Ray grabbed his Vanguard uniform and began strapping it on, piece by piece.

Standing before a mirror, he admired himself.

He was really handsome, if he must say—a rival to Kai’s beauty, but still not on Elyon’s level yet.

Smiling at his reflection, Ray straightened his robe before strapping on a pair of normal brown boots.

Sliding his smartphone into his pocket after making sure it was on silent, he looked around the room once to see if he had missed or forgotten anything.

The night before, the location of where the ceremony would be taking place had been sent to them all and, without hesitation, Ray pulled the door open and walked outside.

The moment the door closed behind him, the door across from his was seen opening up with Trisha walking outside—fully dressed in her uniform.

They paused for a moment, grey eyes meeting blue for several seconds.

Then,

"Good morning." Ray greeted with a warm smile.

Trisha looked at him for several moments before nodding.

"Did you sleep well?"

Ray shrugged while rubbing his neck.

"It was better than the nights I had in imprisonment."

Trisha shook her head with a wry smile, and at the same time, some doors could be seen opening up with the others walking out from their rooms.

"Well, well...we all fly." Felix noted with a firm nod of satisfaction.

"Is it me or does this suit feel itchy?" Van uttered as he scratched his backside for a second with an uncomfortable look on his face.

"Maybe one of your spiders is crawling up your arse?" Kai commented with a low chuckle.

"Hahaha....not funny, Kai." Van scoffed with a mocking laugh.

Thinking for a few seconds, Ray’s eyes shone in delight as he suddenly recalled something.

"Guys, guys, I got a new smartphone. I think the Captain realized that I needed one.... I mean, I’m the specia—"

"—I got one too." Trisha cut him off coldly.

Chloe nodded.

"Me too. With some instructions in the box and even a note attached to my uniform."

One by one, the others nodded along.

"I mean, I don’t really need one though, as I can afford it, but it’s still welcome." Caster muttered with a slight shrug.

Slowly, Ray’s excitement began dying down as he turned towards Van, who was trying his best to adjust his uniform.

"Even you?"

Van nodded.

"Yeah. Isn’t it awesome how two boys from Wall Rose can actually use a phone?"

Ray clicked his tongue silently.

"Yeah."

Caster looked around the hallway, seeing as everybody was around and ready.

"Well, it’s already 11 a.m. Shall we get a move on now?"

Chloe nodded while straightening her robe and, at the same time, cleaning her suit of any imaginary dust.

"Yeah. I think we should hurry up."

And with that, the cohort began walking away from the hallway while chatting amongst themselves, excited for what was to come today.

"Guys, what do you think the General will be like?" Kai asked inquisitively as they approached the staircase.

Van’s gaze flickered towards Ray for a moment.

"Hopefully, he doesn’t hit Ray today."

"Sheesh. Too bad we are heading into a hall filled with possible haters and those who would want to execute him." Felix commented with a slight shudder.

Chloe glanced at Ray, who had his hands stuck to his sides.

"Are you okay?"

Ray nodded.

"Mhm."

Only for Bruce to let out a loud laugh in the mindspace.

«Of course he isn’t okay. Bro wanted to boast—»

’SHUT THE FUCK UP, BRUCE!’

And with that, the cohort reached the staircase and began walking downstairs.

Their hearts thumped in excitement as they headed towards the induction ceremony.
