My Trash System got a Loophole

Chapter 40: Ch-40: The war begins?!

  • Next Chapter

Several days had passed since the Blood Moon Sect appeared outside the Sword Sect, yet surprisingly, nothing had happened.

Gu Changsheng had originally expected the situation to develop into some kind of earth-shattering battle, with cultivators flying through the sky, mountains being sliced apart...

Elders shouting techniques at each other (do they actually?), and perhaps even some unfortunate disciple getting caught in the middle of everything.

However, reality had once again decided to disappoint his expectations, or perhaps luck showed him her grace this time around.

After the initial lockdown, the elders had eventually relaxed the restrictions placed upon them, allowing Gu Changsheng and the others to return to their quarters as long as they did not wander around the sect unnecessarily.

The Sect’s protection formation remained active, the elders were still nowhere to be seen, and everyone had been instructed to remain vigilant, but apart from those few restrictions, their lives had almost returned to normal.

...

Gu Changsheng was currently sitting cross-legged inside his room, quietly cultivating while the faint spiritual energy surrounding him slowly entered his body.

His breathing remained steady as he circulated the spiritual energy through his meridians, allowing it to gather within his Qi Sea before slowly refining it.

After spending several hours cultivating, Gu Changsheng finally opened his eyes and let out a quiet breath.

He glanced towards the system panel in front of him, checking his current progress before shaking his head slightly.

There wasn’t much improvement.

His cultivation was still at the early stage of Qi Refinement, and although his foundation had become considerably more stable after his recent enlightenment, his cultivation speed remained slow.

Gu Changsheng had already become accustomed to this.

After all, compared to the monsters he had encountered in this world, his cultivation speed was almost embarrassing.

Fortunately, he had long since learned not to compare himself with people who had heaven-defying physiques, bloodlines, and countless opportunities.

Gu Changsheng stretched his arms before getting off the bed and walking towards the door, walked outside and found Dong Mulan sitting under a tree not too far away.

She was currently holding a small plate of snacks in her hands, quietly eating while occasionally looking towards the sky.

Gu Changsheng walked over and sat beside her, Dong Mulan immediately smiled before offering him one of the snacks.

"Want one?"

Gu Changsheng took it without hesitation.

The situation outside was still technically dangerous, yet somehow the two of them had already returned to their usual routine.

It’s not like worrying can change the situation.

And whenever they became bored, they wandered around their quarters and found something to do.

Of course, Gu Changsheng hadn’t completely forgotten about them.

It was impossible to forget when the entire sect still had its protection formation active, spending money like water!

But strangely enough, the Sword Sect had not suffered a single attack.

God knows what the attackers were thinking?

Gu Changsheng found that suspicious, but there wasn’t much he could do about it.

He wasn’t strong enough to investigate the situation himself, and even if he somehow managed to sneak outside, there was a very good chance that when the attackers find him, they will turn him into a mere corpse.

So naturally, Gu Changsheng chose the safest possible approach...

He ignored it.

After all, there was an ancient saying he had heard back on Earth, If you can’t solve a problem, simply pretend it doesn’t exist.

It wasn’t exactly an ancient saying, he had made it up, but the philosophy was still sound.

The days continued like this.

Despite the dangerous situation outside, nothing happened.

The elders remained absent, apparently busy handling matters unknown to them, while Elder Jian had not returned to guide them anymore.

Even An Jian was being occasionally called away to assist with small matters, leaving Gu Changsheng, Dong Mulan, Ning Rongrong, Su Mingyue, and Ye Che mostly on their own.

Ning Rongrong complained about the situation almost every day.

"We came here to experience the Sword Sect, and now we’re just sitting around doing nothing."

She was currently lying across a chair, looking towards the ceiling with an expression of complete despair.

Su Mingyue, who was sitting nearby and quietly polishing her sword, glanced at her.

Su Mingyue, who was sitting nearby and quietly polishing her sword, glanced at her.

"You know what, try cultivating a bit, it’s good for your strength."

Ning Rongrong immediately sat upright, looking at Su Mingyue as if she had just suggested something outrageous.

"Hmphh!"

Su Mingyue couldn’t help but shake her head helplessly, while Gu Changsheng, who was sitting beside Dong Mulan, quietly snickered at their conversation.

Ning Rongrong noticed it immediately and glared at him.

"What are you laughing at?"

"Nothing, i just remembered a black pig."

Gu Changsheng immediately stopped smiling, although the corners of his mouth were still slightly raised.

"You are definitely laughing at me."

Su Mingyue: "pfft!"

Ye Che: "pffft!"

An Jian: "???"

Dong Mulan, who had been quietly eating her snacks throughout the conversation, suddenly nodded in agreement, only that she shouldn’t.

For a moment, nobody said anything.

Su Mingyue covered her mouth, trying desperately not to laugh, while Ye Che turned his head away with a helpless smile.

The peaceful atmosphere around them continued for several more moments, and for a brief time, it almost felt as though they found La peace.

But then, the author couldn’t want that, would he?

**Boooooom**

An enormous explosion suddenly erupted from somewhere outside the Sword Sect.

The ground beneath them violently trembled, causing the chairs and tables around them to shake as countless dust particles fell from the surrounding structures.

The laughter instantly disappeared.

Gu Changsheng’s expression changed as he immediately stood up, while Dong Mulan’s hand stopped halfway towards her mouth.

Another explosion followed almost immediately.

*Boom*

This one was even louder than the first.

The entire Sword Sect seemed to tremble beneath the force of it, and the previous calm surrounding the sect suddenly all became chaos.

"What was that!?"

Ning Rongrong shouted as she jumped to her feet, her expression turning pale.

Su Mingyue immediately grabbed her weapon and stood up, her eyes looking towards the direction of the explosions.

Gu Changsheng’s heart sank, he didn’t need anyone to explain what had happened.

For several days, the Sword Sect had remained completely peaceful despite the unknown entity waiting outside, and now the first thing they heard was an explosion powerful enough to shake the entire Sword sect.

The thing he had been hoping wouldn’t happen had finally happened.

"The invaders, they’re attacking."

Ye Che’s voice came from behind them, his expression serious as he stared at a distance, the others also tensed up respectively.

Before anyone could say anything else, a terrifying roar suddenly echoed throughout the Sword Sect.

"ENEMY ATTACK! ENEMY ATTACK!!"

The voice was filled with spiritual energy, spreading through the entire underground sect and reaching every corner.

Immediately afterward, several more voices began shouting.

"Activate the offensive formation!"

"Elder, Protect the disciples!"

"Disciples, move to the western passage!"

The peaceful atmosphere that had existed for several days vanished in an instant.

Sword Sect disciples rushed out from their quarters, weapons already drawn, while several powerful auras began erupting throughout the sect.

The previously calm spiritual energy became turbulent as the protection formation began operating at full power.

Gu Changsheng looked towards the sky and saw countless strands of light spreading through the darkness, forming another massive formation.

Yet the explosions continued relentlessly.

*Boom**Boom**Boom*

Each explosion caused the ground to shake violently.

Dong Mulan instinctively moved closer to Gu Changsheng, her expression becoming nervous.

"Stay close to me! Be ready to run when I say so, understood?"

Gu Changsheng told her and she nodded immediately.

Ning Rongrong had already grabbed Su Mingyue’s arm.

Another explosion shook the entire area.

This time, a powerful shockwave swept through the surroundimg, causing several weaker disciples to stumble.

Gu Changsheng immediately stabilized his footing, his expression becominhg increasingly solemn.

Inwardly he was complaining why didn’t the sect arrange evacuation for the weak disciples, not knowing those stubborn foggies foolish righteousness.

"Everyone, move towards the designated defensive area!"

A Sword Sect disciple shouted while rushing past them.

The disciples immediately began moving according to the instructions they received, and Gu Changsheng’s group also followed the flow.

The moment the attack began, more and more formations activated, barriers appeared across important passages, and Sword Sect disciples moved into their designated positions.

Even so, the sheer intensity of the battle outside was frightening.

Gu Changsheng could hear powerful explosions in the distance, each clash of powerful beings sending ripples through the surrounding area.

He had never experienced anything like this before. Back on Earth, the loudest thing he had experienced was probably a car accident.

Even his experience of the secret realm wasn’t this intense. No... That didn’t even come close to what was happening currently.

Suddenly, a loud voice echoed through the entire sect.

"YOU OLD B*STARD, YOU WILL NOT BE GRANTED A QUICK DEATH!!!"

That was... Jian Yulan’s scream, her rage off the charts for the first time in a while.
