My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered

Chapter 238: The false heirs

Before addressing the frantic holographic feeds floating in the command hub, Vince turned his gaze toward the far horizon of the upper atmosphere. High above the Sanctum, where the starry violet void met the boundary of the lower plane, a jagged, luminous scar lingered in the spatial fabric—the original dimensional rift through which he, Barnaby, Elena, and Vetra had breached the Sovereign Realm.

Vince raised his right hand, his bare fingers spreading wide as he asserted his Inward Absolute Domain over the spatial seam. He didn’t construct a seal or apply a complex locking rune; he simply revoked the rift’s right to exist within his space. The boundary is seamless.

SCHWWWWING—!

The giant cosmic tear snapped shut instantly, its raw edges stitching together so smoothly that the surrounding spatial fabric smoothed out like undisturbed glass. The dimensional breach was gone, permanently closing the pathway to external realms and isolating Vince’s newly conquered territory under his sole, unquestioned authority.

Satisfied, Vince lowered his hand and turned his attention down to the crystalline viewscreen projecting the grand valley beneath the Spire.

Ten thousand miles below the Sanctum, at the jagged base of the central Spire, the air smelled of scorched copper and wet ozone.

The ancient, immortal gold hue that had bathed the lower province for six millennia was gone. In its place, the vast sky had turned a deep, velvet amethyst, speckled with silver nebulae that pulsed with a slow, heavy rhythm. Across the Great Valley of Law, millions of mortals, cultivators, and lower-tier enforcers knelt in the dirt, weeping or staring up at the changed heavens in utter terror. The Obelisk’s ancient stasis arrays had ceased to hum, leaving the environment feeling unnaturally light, raw, and uncontrolled.

Yet, amidst the widespread panic, ambition reared its head.

Surrounding the colossal, dark stone base of the central Spire, three massive war fleets had anchored their floating dreadnoughts in a tense, triangular formation.

To the east hovered the massive, iron-plated sky-galleons of the Iron-Silt Sect, their banners flapping violently in the strange cosmic breeze. To the west floated the sleek, ivory-and-gold skiffs of the High Inquisitor Remnants, their holy armor reflecting the violet light above. And to the south, thousands of rogue beast-riders and mercenary grandmasters of the Crimson League gathered on foot, their heavy armor clanking as they eyed the towering, silent doors of the Spire.

On the main deck of the central Iron-Silt dreadnought, Warlord Kaelen stood with his iron-gauntleted hands resting on the pommel of a massive broadsword. His heavy beard was stained with ash, and his dark eyes burned with manic, unbridled greed as he stared at the Spire’s sealed entrance.

"Look at the sky, General!" Kaelen bellowed, his deep voice carrying across the deck toward the floating ivory skiff fifty yards away. "The ancient array is dark! The Obelisk’s pressure is completely gone! The Six Sovereigns have abandoned the realm or succumbed to a cosmic purge! The celestial throne is vacant!"

On the ivory skiff, Inquisitor General Vane stood tall, his long white coat trimmed with golden silk. His face was pale beneath his silver headpiece, but his eyes were sharp and predatory.

"Watch your tongue, cultivator," Vane shouted back, his voice amplified by divine light arrays. "The Sovereigns do not ’succumb.’ They have likely withdrawn into the higher void to initiate a realm reset. But until their return, the Holy Order holds jurisdiction over the Spire’s core! Step back, or my legions will purge your fleet for heresy!"

"Jurisdiction?!" Kaelen laughed, a booming, harsh sound that echoed across the valley. "Your holy arrays died the moment the sky turned purple! You have no power here, priest! The stasis is broken, and the strong will claim the celestial core! Whoever controls the Spire controls the lower provinces!"

"You dare attempt to claim divine authority with mortal hands?!" Vane drew a radiant, white-gold rapier, pointing it straight at Kaelen’s chest. "My vanguard will breach the Spire’s inner gates before your iron boats can even lower their anchors!"

"Try it, old man!" Kaelen roared, raising his broadsword high into the air. "Iron-Silt Sect, mobilize! Secure the Spire gates! Kill anyone who steps between us and the throne!"

"Inquisitors, eliminate the heretics!" Vane commanded coldly.

Before the two armies could clash, before a single spell was cast or a single arrow loosed, the sky directly above the Spire fractured.

It wasn’t a violent explosion or a crashing thunderclap. It was a complete, instantaneous inversion of atmospheric pressure that forced every floating dreadnought down ten feet in mid-air with a agonizing, creaking groan. The wind died instantly. The clouds froze in place.

High above the valley, the deep amethyst sky parted, revealing a colossal, transparent projection of the Sanctum of the Waypoint floating like a sovereign fortress amidst the stars.

A single figure stepped to the front of the projection.

Vince stood overlooking the valley, his dark coat settling smoothly over his shoulders. His arm was wrapped securely around Elena’s waist, while Vetra stood tall at his other side, her silver scales gleaming and her hand resting on her heavy blade. Floating just behind his left shoulder, Barnaby leaned in close, her golden eyes watching the tiny armies below with an expression of cool, amused detachment.

The sheer weight of Vince’s presence didn’t just press down on the valley—it settled into the very bones of every living soul within a thousand miles.

Warlord Kaelen’s broadsword slipped from his iron gauntlet, crashing loudly onto the wooden deck. His knees buckled under the sudden, absolute pressure, slamming him hard onto the floorboards. Beside him, his veteran commanders collapsed like lead weights, gasping for air as their mana circuits completely locked up.

Across the gap, Inquisitor General Vane fell to both knees on his ivory skiff, his white-gold rapier clattering away as he clutched his chest, staring up at the sky in sheer, paralyzing horror.

"That... that presence..." Vane choked out, his voice a terrified whimper as blood trickled from his nose. "It’s not a Sovereign... It’s... it’s the mortal who ascended..."

"You speak of vacant thrones and divine authority," Vince’s voice echoed—not from the sky, but directly inside the minds and souls of every warlord, cultivator, and inquisitor in the valley. The tone was calm, smooth, and echoing with cold, absolute certainty. "You gather like vultures at the base of my tower, squabbling over scraps of a broken world."

Kaelen forced his head up, his teeth gritted as he tried to channel his internal iron-core mana. "Who... who are you?! The Sovereigns—"

"The Sovereigns were unwritten," Vince cut him off softly. "Their Obelisk is dust. Their laws are erased. The hierarchy you served for six thousand years no longer exists."

A collective, breathless gasp rippled across the millions gathered in the valley. The absolute truth of his words sank deep into their spirits through the ambient pressure—a undeniable reality that no propaganda or religious dogma could deny.

"From this day forward," Vince continued, his dark amethyst eyes locking onto the kneeling figures of Kaelen and Vane, "the lower provinces do not answer to divine decree. They answer to me."

Vince raised his left hand, extending a single finger toward the three massive war fleets anchored around the Spire.

"Absolute Law: Disarmament."

CLINK.

A soft, chime-like sound echoed across the valley.

In a fraction of a second, every siege engine, every elemental cannon, every floating array, and every magical weapon belonging to the Iron-Silt Sect, the Inquisitors, and the Crimson League dissolved into fine, harmless grey dust. The floating dreadnoughts lost their anti-gravity runes, settling gently onto the valley floor with heavy, dusty thuds, their weapons completely neutralized.

The millions of soldiers in the valley stared at their empty hands in stunned, total silence. Thousands of war machines, centuries of military preparations, and high-tier divine relics had been stripped away with a single word.

Vince lowered his hand, his gaze remaining cold and detached as he looked down at the paralyzed leaders.

"Establish your borders," Vince commanded softly. "Maintain your order. If any faction raises a weapon to contest my rule, I will not strip your arms. I will strip your existence."

The giant projection faded, leaving the deep amethyst sky open and clear once more.

Down on the deck of his grounded dreadnought, Warlord Kaelen lay face-down on the wooden planks, trembling violently as he pressed his forehead against the floor. Beside him, General Vane bowed his head into the dust, all pride and holy arrogance completely shattered.

High above in the Sanctum, Vince turned away from the viewscreen.

Elena looked up at him, a radiant, proud smile gracing her lips as she adjusted her tactical interface. "The provincial feeds are green, Vince. The warlords are submitting across all sectors."

Vetra let out a low, fierce laugh, her amber eyes shining as she slapped a hand onto his shoulder. "That was smooth. They didn’t even get a chance to draw a blade."

Barnaby drifted closer, her lips brushing lightly against the shell of Vince’s ear as she whispered with a sultry, knowing purr, "A very impressive demonstration, My Lord... though I do hope enforcing your new order leaves you with enough energy for later."

Vince’s hand tightened around Elena’s waist as a faint, dark smirk touched his lips.

"The order is set," Vince said smoothly. "Now, we build."
