Shi Lingfeng looked at the provocative gleam in Lu Xuyin’s eyes. He didn’t even need half a brain to figure out what this guy was thinking. TSK TSK TSK—Young males really hadn’t experienced the harsh beatings of reality! Who told him that the night they formed a bond had to be their wedding night?

Deep down, Shi Lingfeng embraced a petty philosophy: “Since I got drenched in the rain, I’m going to shred everyone else’s umbrellas!”

As Shi Lingfeng withdrew his hand, he pushed up the plain-glass spectacles resting on the bridge of his nose. He turned his head and spoke softly to Gu Weilan. “Female Master, may I accompany you to see the patients? I’ve never seen how you eradicate the parasitic insect clan with your Talent Skill.”

Gu Weilan nodded. “Alright.”

“While we’re at it, I can introduce you to Vice Admiral Wu,” Shi Lingfeng added. “Even though he’s in charge of the medics, he definitely has a lot of connections here on the frontlines.”

Gu Weilan gently reminded him, “I’m just worried that Xuanshuo will cling to us again like a leech! You’ll probably need some extra help navigating the interpersonal relationships at the frontline’s material processing plant so you can handle everything quickly and efficiently.”

Shi Lingfeng gave a soft hum of agreement. He wrapped an arm around Gu Weilan’s waist, lowered his head, and pressed a kiss to the crown of her head. His Female Master was clearly thinking of him, yet she made it sound as if she were only considering her own affairs. His Female Master really loved him so much!

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Lu Xuyin, whose lips were pressed into a tight line. PFFT—A clueless new Beast Husband actually dared to compete with him over who held more weight in their Female Master’s heart! What was he thinking? Who gave him the audacity?

Shi Lingfeng gently took Gu Weilan’s hand, preparing to lead her out of the dormitory.

“Do I need to prepare a suitable gift for Vice Admiral Wu?” she asked.

Watching them leave, Lu Xuyin narrowed his eyes. It seemed that none of his Female Master’s Beast Husbands were pushovers!

While Gu Weilan went to treat the Beastmen infected by the parasitic insect clan, Vice Admiral Wu and Shi Lingfeng discussed the issue regarding Xuanshuo.

“So you’re saying that, under the guise of normal business operations, this guy is insisting on acquiring shares and financing the material processing plant?” Shi Lingfeng’s eyes held no curiosity, only the calm acceptance of something he had long expected.

Vice Admiral Wu nodded. “This guy swore by the Beast God that he has no ill intentions toward the Weilan Female and will absolutely not harm the female Gu Weilan in the slightest. If he does, he’ll be cursed to never have heirs.

“The male Xuanshuo has also submitted all the necessary documents and procedures. It has indeed been ruled as a legitimate business operation.

“Therefore, we can only strictly demand that the Light Brain monitoring agency force Xuanshuo to adhere to Alliance law. Due to the patent law restrictions regarding dissolved match partners, he is forbidden from mentioning the Weilan Female ever again.

“Other than that, there’s nothing more we can forcibly do.”

Regardless, Shi Lingfeng thanked Vice Admiral Wu for doing all of this for his Female Master. They chatted about a few other matters for a while before Shi Lingfeng went to find Gu Weilan.

Gu Weilan was deep in thought regarding the patients she had just treated. When she looked up, she saw Shi Lingfeng standing at the door of the ward with a faint smile, waiting for her. Her eyes involuntarily scanned the Beastmen rushing about their surroundings.

“Looking for Beast Husband Lu Xuyin?” Shi Lingfeng’s lips were still curled upward, but his tone had undeniably cooled by a fraction. He felt one part aggrieved and nine parts jealous.

Gu Weilan nodded, ignoring the suppressed storm brewing in Shi Lingfeng’s eyes. “A few of Lu Xuyin’s captain friends just had the parasitic insect clan extracted from their bodies. They probably really need his comfort right now. Two of those captains learned that they inadvertently led their comrades into the Insect Clan’s encirclement, causing their deaths. They no longer have the will to live.”

Shi Lingfeng fell silent for a moment before saying softly, “Lu Xuyin went to receive the families of those captains.”

Gu Weilan gave a slight nod, then reached her arms out to Shi Lingfeng. “Carry me back. I’m too tired.”

Shi Lingfeng gladly scooped Gu Weilan into his arms and carried her back to her temporary dormitory. “You shouldn’t always push yourself so hard,” he murmured. “You’re still a student at the Central Beastman Academy; there’s absolutely no need for you to exhaust yourself like this. Leave the money-making to Zhan Heng and me.”

Gu Weilan rested her head on his shoulder. Hearing his concern, she replied in a tone that brooked no argument, “What I want is to become stronger on my own.

“I want to build a network where people treat me with respect because of my own abilities. I don’t want them to be courteous to me just because of whose Female Master I am.

“Of course, perhaps some Beastmen initiated contact with me at first—like your grandmother, the Python Clan’s patriarch, Old Mrs. Bai, and Mrs. Rong…

“In the beginning, they undoubtedly approached me because of you all.

“But as long as I possess knowledge, strength, and sufficient value, they will become my own personal assets.”

Although Gu Weilan wasn’t looking at him, she made her stance crystal clear. “I can tell you honestly that I don’t really trust any Beastman other than myself. In fact, sometimes, I don’t even trust myself.”

She would say she wasn’t hungry, only to crave a snack. She would say she didn’t want to watch anything, yet couldn’t resist scrolling through videos for a while.

Back on Blue Star, whenever she saw a woman juggling several men and twisting them around her little finger, she used to think the woman was unfaithful. As she grew older, she realized that as long as a woman was capable—without stealing, robbing, or deceiving—what was wrong with liking a few more men?

Gu Weilan had realized a long time ago that sometimes she couldn’t even empathize with her past self. Therefore, she now only believed in empowering herself. As long as her strength matched her ambitions, she could do whatever she wanted! She could keep living freely and following her heart’s desires!

Shi Lingfeng carried Gu Weilan back into her dormitory and helped strip off her clothes for a bath. He took off his glasses and explained softly, “I don’t want you to be so tired, but I’m not trying to stop you from becoming stronger. I’ll pay more attention to that in the future. I won’t self-righteously try to persuade you like this anymore.

“From now on, I’ll work hard in my own Domain, just like you. But when we come home, I’ll reward you with myself and help relieve your exhaustion. How does that sound?”

Gu Weilan blinked, an eyebrow involuntarily twitching upward at Shi Lingfeng’s words… Her eyes suddenly widened in realization. He was helping her bathe, but it certainly wasn’t out of pure sympathy for her fatigue! He clearly wanted to make her even more tired!

Gu Weilan grabbed his hand. “Stop messing around…”

Shi Lingfeng’s shirt was already soaked through, and his medium-short, blue-black hair was completely wet. Unable to hold back, he completely ignored her protests. He pressed himself against her, murmuring softly, “Female Master, I can’t help it. I haven’t seen you in so long… Didn’t you miss me at all?”

As he spoke, he planted soft kisses on her earlobe. “Touch me, see how much I missed you.” First, he guided her hand to feel his strong, racing heartbeat. Then, he led her hand to explore the place where he missed her even more.

Unable to help herself, Gu Weilan reminded him, “Today is Lu Xuyin’s…”

Shi Lingfeng instantly sealed her lips with his own. He kissed her until she could barely stand, only releasing her when they were both gasping for breath.

His suppressed and restrained voice carried a hint of grievance and a sense of gritted teeth. “Lanlan… are you doing this on purpose?” She knew perfectly well how much he loved her, yet she deliberately brought up another Beast Husband in front of him at a time like this. And she even wanted to remind him that tonight was the first night they formed a bond.

Well, he refused. He absolutely refused to let Lu Xuyin successfully consummate the marriage! Back when he and his Female Master had formed a bond and undergone Engraving, on that very night—and not just that night, but for how many nights after—he hadn’t even been allowed near her! Who still remembered that? Only he remembered!
