Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Precautions

"Leave these Beast Clans to our White Tiger Clan and Vermilion Bird Clan to deal with!" Bai Yanli said.

Zhan Heng looked at the cat cub and couldn’t help but narrow his eyes. It seemed this guy was in the same boat as him!

Lorenzo frowned. "I didn’t even realize that you were a severely injured beastman!"

Samuel gasped, "Have you only just regained your sanity? I remember before..."

Samuel trailed off, but a wicked smile curled on Zhan Heng’s lips. Zhan Heng still remembered when this Silver-spotted Cat and the Bald Chicken had defecated everywhere. Housekeeper Zhan Ci had stepped in it, and Uncle Zhan Ci had looked as if his soul had left his body.

A flash of embarrassment and awkwardness crossed Bai Yanli’s face. He didn’t want to continue this topic; it was simply too humiliating. He quickly changed the subject. "Just leave those Beast Clans to us. However, we would like to trouble the female Gu Weilan to help us contact the White Tiger Clan and the Vermilion Bird Clan using a Light Brain.

"I only have half an hour of lucidity each day right now. There are some matters I must communicate with my family immediately.

"The parasitic insect clan residing within Rong Hua Jin and me can not only inhabit a beastman’s body, but they can also control the beastman’s thoughts.

"I know that feeling all too well. The main issue is that a mature parasitic insect clan member can transfer new parasites into another beastman’s body through physical contact.

"This issue really must be resolved quickly. In fact, resolving it is a matter of absolute urgency!"

Zhan Heng, Lorenzo Snow, Shen Mianzhou, Samuel Riel, and Xie Jing all wore solemn expressions. Although none of them were directly affiliated with the military legion, they were all under its protection. If the higher-ups of the legion were infested by the parasitic insect clan, it would be an absolute catastrophe!

Zhan Heng closed his eyes. He looked at Gu Weilan, his lips moving, but he ultimately remained silent.

Gu Weilan looked at Bai Yanli. "You must have been able to speak a few days ago, right? Since this matter is so important, why are you only speaking up now?"

The Silver-spotted Cat took a deep breath. "Previously, I could only maintain my speech for ten minutes. I still needed you to help me repair my Spiritual Sea.

"Of course, the female Gu Weilan doesn’t need to worry; I will certainly offer a hefty compensation for the soothing.

"Additionally, I needed to observe you all. I had to ensure that you weren’t beastmen from the political factions opposing the White Tiger Clan and the Vermilion Bird Clan, nor the ruthless type of beastmen who would dispose of us just to cover something up.

"Because Huai Jin and I currently have no ability to protect ourselves. I needed to ensure our own safety before making further plans."

Gu Weilan gave a slight nod, considering Bai Yanli’s explanation acceptable.

Shen Mianzhou, however, looked displeased. "To put it bluntly, you just covet my Female Master’s Wood Beast Talent Skill—her ability to repair the Spiritual Sea. Why act as if your hand was forced? Who are you putting on this show for?"

Zhan Heng nodded slightly. A fraction of the respect for this iron-blooded warrior vanished from his phoenix eyes. He lifted his chin slightly, restoring his arrogant demeanor.

Gu Weilan waved her hand dismissively. "It’s fine. I will help you contact the beastmen from your families. For instance, who do you need to reach?

"Personally, I don’t have much faith in those beastmen who gave the interviews. It’s as if their brains have been eaten away. The things they said didn’t sound like what normal beastmen should say in front of a screen."

The Silver-spotted Cat pursed his feline lips. This was exactly why he hadn’t dared to immediately beg Gu Weilan for help making contact after regaining his sanity. He and Rong Hua Jin had pretended to be ignorant while watching the news projected by the housekeeping robot. They learned that the person the fake Bai Yanli and fake Rong Hua Jin had broken their match with was the very Gu Weilan who had saved them.

And as for Gu Weilan’s temperament... she was someone who would hold a grudge and seek revenge for the smallest grievance. If another beastman had this kind of personality, they would simply think the person was in the right. However, if that vindictiveness was directed at the two of them, given their severely injured states, they feared they wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Having watched their families’ spokespersons, they also faintly sensed that something was amiss with the things being said. The White Tiger Clan and Vermilion Bird Clan were top-tier Beast Clans with high combat power. Yet, the higher their status, the better they had been educated by the elders of the Beast Clan from a young age. Treating any beastman as an equal and with respect was a way to avoid bringing unnecessary trouble upon themselves. True nobility was earned through one’s own strength, not by relying on familial protection to casually belittle other beastmen to find a sense of respect and superiority.

This kind of superiority, propped up by insulting others, would sooner or later backfire on the White Tiger and Vermilion Bird Beast Clans. Therefore, Bai Yanli and Rong Hua Jin felt that those beastmen speaking to the public really seemed to have a problem. What they feared now was whether all the beastmen in their families had been compromised.

"Please trouble the female Gu Weilan to contact our great-grandmothers," Bai Yanli requested earnestly.

Gu Weilan was in no mood to discuss compensation or terms with Bai Yanli. She immediately asked for the Light Brain numbers and contacted Bai Yanli’s great-grandmother and Rong Hua Jin’s great-grandmother. Through the Light Brain video call, Bai Yanli connected with his own great-grandmother and his best friend’s great-grandmother. He briefly explained the general situation before ending the call.

Before he even had the time to say another word, the gleam of intelligence faded from his eyes.

Everyone watched as the Silver-spotted Cat suddenly sprang up, trying to reach the juice on the coffee table. Zhan Heng, quick on the draw, yanked the coffee table away. The crowd watched as the Silver-spotted Cat missed the table entirely and dropped straight to the floor, scraping against the table’s edge.

Shen Mianzhou pursed his lips. Lorenzo looked directly at Gu Weilan. "Female Master, you’ve seen their foolish behavior... Will you still take them in as your Beast Husbands? After all, it wasn’t actually them who used their Light Brains to break the match with you."

Gu Weilan closed her eyes briefly, then shot Lorenzo a look that clearly said, "What kind of horror story are you telling me?"

Zhan Heng knew exactly what Lorenzo’s underlying motive was for saying this, but he clearly had no intention of speaking up for him. He felt that Gu Weilan was a bit of a clean freak, and she had personally stepped in the bird droppings that Rong Hua Jin had left behind. She wouldn’t want him! Even if Bai Yanli and Rong Hua Jin had devastatingly handsome looks, so what? It was useless!

Lorenzo pursed his lips, suppressing the smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Samuel Riel, however, held a different view. As a Mermaid, his personality was perhaps a bit too straightforward. "Are you guys secretly rejoicing that the Female Master isn’t taking these two males as her Beast Husbands?"

He looked surprised. "Wouldn’t it be better to let the Female Master take in two Beast Husbands she’s destined not to dote on, rather than having her go to the Beast God Matching Center to find new, even better ones?"

Gu Weilan rolled her eyes at Samuel. "Don’t think about me going to the Beast God Matching Center right now. And don’t put all your hopes on the White Tiger Clan and the Vermilion Bird Clan. I’m not very optimistic about their current states.

"You all should come up with a backup plan, lest the Blue Tiger Clan, Sand Fox Clan, Dolphin Clan, and Porcupine Clan try to trip up our businesses again!"

Gu Weilan liked it when her Beast Husbands’ minds were full of romance for her, but she absolutely could not let her businesses suffer because of it!
