My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 361: Confessing the Situation
Chapter 361: Chapter 361: Confessing the Situation
As the manager spoke, he slammed his fist on the table, his voice filled with rage. "The factory fed and housed that freeloader for over a decade, and in all that time, he never did a lick of work.
"He spent his days getting into trouble, harassing the young women. The factory would pay them a little hush money, and most people just turned a blind eye, writing it off as bad luck and moving on.
"But who could have imagined he’d take it even further? He demanded I let him ’have a turn’ with my wife. After I refused, he had the gall to run up to my wife and daughter wearing nothing but a trench coat and, when they weren’t looking, fling it open.
"My daughter is only four. She doesn’t understand anything, but she was terrified. She came down with a fever that very night."
That shameless bastard, Walter Newton, saw how scared they were and had the nerve to swagger over, thrusting his hips at them and spewing all sorts of filth.
After his wife and child were bullied like that, the manager felt that if he just let it slide, he wouldn’t be a man!
So that night, he called his brother-in-law and lured Walter Newton to an abandoned factory building.
The workshop director used the pig-butchering skills he’d learned at a slaughterhouse, and together, the two of them killed Walter Newton.
Dismemberment. Deboning. Disposal.
Through this entire process, a living, breathing person met his end at the hands of the factory manager and the workshop director.
"So, you’re telling me that everything you did was to protect your wife and daughter?" the older officer asked, raising an eyebrow. His gaze on the manager was filled with suspicion.
But according to their investigation, this man regularly beat his wife at home, always screaming at her for being unable to give him a son.
His attitude toward his daughter was even worse; he’d openly state that she had stolen the spot that should have gone to a son.
The manager also had a whole string of mistresses. It wasn’t just about their looks; more importantly, he felt he needed a son to inherit the family business.
Since his wife couldn’t produce a son, he looked elsewhere.
When she first saw this file, Lynn couldn’t help but mutter to Mills, "How can anyone be this ignorant?"
"He’s clearly well-educated, too!"
And the other accomplice was even more of a joke.
The manager’s wife was the workshop director’s sister, but he never treated her well.
The only reason he ever called her was to ask for money.
Or he’d gotten into some kind of trouble and needed his sister to step in and use her status as the manager’s wife to sort things out.
Were these really the kind of men who would act to protect the manager’s wife and the director’s sister? It just didn’t add up.
Besides, their actions were clean and efficient, without a single wasted motion. They even had the nerve to come in the next day, smiling, to ask about the investigation.
Based on everything the police had uncovered, combined with the duo’s behavior and disposition over the last few days, their confession had very little credibility.
"Of course! I might be a bastard most of the time, but if I was weak in a situation like this, what kind of man would I be?" The manager’s expression hardened as he met the older officer’s suspicious gaze, quickly making his stance clear.
’In any case, he and his brother-in-law had already coordinated their stories. He knew exactly what to say.’
’So what if they had dug into his past? Without hard evidence, they’d still have to rely on his confession, wouldn’t they?’
’Even if the story got out, he’d be seen as a man who killed to protect his family.’
’That would make it impossible for that woman to take his daughter and remarry!’
’He might even stir up some public sympathy. After all, the man he’d killed was an old pervert who harassed young girls.’
’If he played his cards right and got a reduced sentence, that would be even better!’
’It was the fault of all those useless women, none of them able to give him a son. Otherwise, his factory would have an heir!’
At this thought, the manager sighed. ’So, this is it,’ he thought. ’My family line ends with me.’
The older officer stared at the manager’s face, his own expression turning grim.
He knew the man’s story was full of holes, but at the moment, he really didn’t have any other evidence.
Just then, Lynn knocked on the interrogation room door. "Sir, there’s a woman outside claiming to be a relative of the two suspects. She says she has evidence that they murdered someone else.
"That email account from before also sent us another message. It came with an address, saying there’s evidence inside of another murder committed by these two."
The manager’s expression changed the moment he heard Lynn’s voice.
’What does she mean?’
’How could she possibly know about that?’
’I was so careful to cover my tracks!’
The older officer took the file from Lynn. After seeing the address, he said quickly, "Have Mills take a team to check this address.
"You get the other witness settled. I’ll go see her now."
"Understood!"
Under the manager’s murderous glare, the older officer followed his apprentice out of the interrogation room.
The manager wanted to call out and stop them, but doing so would be a clear admission of guilt.
’I can’t do that,’ he thought. ’It would be like walking right into their trap!’
All the manager could do now was pray that the information was fake. Otherwise, no excuse in the world could save him this time.
’Any hope of using public opinion to get a reduced sentence would be a complete fantasy!’
But his prayers went unanswered. About an hour later, the older officer returned, clutching another file. His face was terrifyingly dark.
He stood beside the manager, looming over him, and said through gritted teeth, "You went after a minor? I’m telling you, if I don’t uncover every single thing you’ve done, I’ll be a disgrace to this uniform!"
As if his words weren’t enough of a threat, the older officer threw the file in his hands right at the manager’s face.
With trembling hands, the manager flipped through the documents before him.
He saw the familiar location, and the photos of the bones that had been dug up, piece by piece.
Finally, he broke.
These cops... they had really found everything.
"I didn’t want to! We just wanted to have some fun. I never expected her to be so stubborn. She kept screaming that she was going to call the police, that she’d have us arrested," the manager cried out, clutching his head in his hands.
’They hadn’t intended to kill her. It was all that girl’s fault.’
’She just wouldn’t stop threatening to call the police. He had such a bright future ahead of him; if he got arrested, his life would be over, wouldn’t it?’
’So, weighing the options, they obviously had to sacrifice the girl.’
’They couldn’t let two successful men like themselves get dragged into that kind of scandal, could they?’
"So you killed her!" the older officer roared, slamming his palm on the table.
The manager was already guilt-ridden. Hearing the officer’s roar, he hung his head completely, accepting the judgment of the man before him.
With one of them having confessed everything, it was only a matter of time before the other one broke, no matter how stubborn he tried to be.
He soon confessed to everything he had done.
"That’s everything."
